| Southern-fried hard-rock from Zanesville, Ohio. Sort of like Nashville Pussy, only they sound like they actually MEAN their jokes. Steve Theado shines throughout, and Keith Pickens is a hell of a drummer. Many of the songs are quite fast, like early NP, but less punk. The Fizz Picks: "Shitkicker," "Can't Trhow Stones" "Dog WIll Hunt" (blazing solo), "Motors Down" and especially "Bullshit/" HILARIOUS country-style song with the obviously drunk band dissolving into cackles at the end.

| Just avoid the two ballads, "Glad It's Over" (I sure was!) and "Can't Stop the Rain" (no, but I can damn well stop this song!), as Michaen Hannon does NOT have the voice to carry them off, and plus, they're both over six minutes, waaaaay too long.

| this is an excellent party rock n roll slab, lots of loud guitars,thundering bass and pounding drums ..and with a sense of humor..shitkicker is a great song..bullshit,goddammit great stuff ..

| I really enjoyed the Salty Dog CD, so I decided to pick up this disc from Hannon's current band.While this disc is definitely packed with good, sleazy, barroom rock-n-roll,the problem I have with it(I have the 1 with 15 songs)is that there just aren't enough memorable, stand-out tunes.I've listened to it several times now, and the only songs that I remotely remember are "Shitkicker","Can't Throw Stones",and "Motors Down"...outta 15 songs that's pretty rough.Decent,but by no means a "must-have".

| GREAT CD!!! And for anyone that cares Michael Hannon is the coolest guy I've never met! Reason: I traded some old Salty demos with him that he had lost and he hooked me up with the cd's, autographed posters, picks, and a cool little message. For music aficianodos/fans like myself it is really a shock to come across musicians who are actually cool to their fans. And I don't mean "Hey, How you doin'" KOOL, I mean sincere. Michael, I wish you continued success in all your endeavors. Fan For Life.

| Definitely a step forward from the debut, more textures among the different songs, and still that same Jackyl-meets-Motorhead, uncouth, rednecky fun. Occasionally, they get too Skynyrdly for their own good, like on "Glad It's Over" (I sure was glad when the song was over). But fo rthe most part, it's high-energy, turbo-charged, kick-ass rock 'n' roll. Best songs: the classic "Shitkicker," "Train," "Swallow My Pride," and "Motors Down." Oh yeah, and the drunken, acoustic afterthought, "Bullshit" is priceless.

| This was my first American Dog disc, except for a promo single for "Barely Half Alive." It's not my favorite album of theirs, just because they would go on to release such gems as Hard, Mean and Neanderthal. But revisiting it now for the first time in quite a long time, I'm reminded how good it still is. Michael himself has admitted that the album contains his weakest vocal performance, and I think that's mostly down to the times when he tries to sing with melody—he just doesn't have that kind of voice, and the band never have attempted two long, southeron-rock ballads. "Can't Stop The Rain" could have been passable if it were shorter, but "Glad It's Over" is just a dreary, tuneless trudge. But! The band is mostly aces on their uptempo material, beginning with their signature song "Shitkicker." From there, we roar through high-octane tracks like "Train," "Dog Will Hunt," "Blame It On The Booze," and others.

| Unlike the tongue-in-cheek trashiness of Nashville Pussy, American Dog always seemed to be singing pretty honestly about their lives of ass-busting, hard drinking and dirty women. That kinda bugs me when I'm not actually listening to the band; it sounds like a fairly shitty life, trapped in blue-collar hell, swilling cheap beer to numb the pain and making mean-spirited fun of women even while trying to pick them up. But with the music cranking, I'm as bad as they are—I just want to drink beer and piss off neighborhood.
