Due to the tragic and bizarre circumstances surrounding the release of 'Mother Love Bone's' first full length LP,'Apple', this record review is a lot more complex than passing judgement on an album. Due to the Tragic and useless death of 'MLB's' lead singer/songwriter Andrew Wood, a band with untapped potential will always go down in the history books under 'WHAT IF'? It's a shame that Wood, who'd come so far in his battle with drugs,lost his life over one last shot of smack.

| When you hear a record as great as MOTHER LOVE BONE or APPLE or ARE YOU EXPERIENCED or CHEAP THRILLS, and than realize that there won't be any more. FUCK!!! 19 solid tracks of classic hard rock. I give the highest rating possible, 10!! Virtually flawless Rock 'N' Roll . 'Apple' is also the last effort from 'MLB' you'll get with Wood singing. It's sad to think that no one will ever know what could've been, since Wood died before he ever started fulfilling and challenging his destiny. R.I.P.!

| I can't believe that this band is on this web-site!! Their not a hair band or a rock band. They were one of the first Grunge bands! I have this album and it is a rerelease of their album APPLE, with a few tracks added. I don't think this band belongs here! Did you know that members of this band went on to become PEAL JAM?........... THIS PAGE NEEDS TO GO!!

| I never heard Mother Love Bone but I knew that two members of Pearl Jam were in this band so the grunge connection is very close. No matter what, grunge sucks. The rating for this album simply describes that it's a piece of grungry crap without even a need of hearing it.

| This is a very brave and good decision to put this album on this web-site! Sure everyone automaticlly thinks of grunge because of Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, but you have got to except that Andrew Wood had an unreal Hard Rock/Sleaze Metal Voice and this band are very good song writers with big guitars. This album is certainlly in my Heavy Metal/Hard Rock collection, I really think it's just a mental thing that this band are regarded as a grunge band. R.I.P. Andrew Wood.

| P.S. maybe if he didn't over dose on heroin there wouldn't have been this fucking grunge era and bands like Hardline, Giant, Shotgun Messiah, Slam Saint Joan, Saints And Sinners, Extreme and Lynch Mob just to name a few would have survived for more than just a couple of albums

Take it easy on me Frosty. I was stating the facts. I didn't rip this band, I just think that this isn't the place for them. Remember, I have this album and I never said it was bad. Pearl Jam does blow! It's easy to say 'slap in the teeth' from where you are sitting. BUT go ahead and try it, you f##kin' Buck-Snort!!!

| When I was a kid I heard mind shaker meltdown I thought it ruled to this day whenever I hear it I either want to fight, drink, fuck or break things. who cares if it's grunge or metal there are more worrysome matters to contemplate concerning the state of the music world. They just dont make songs like that anymore. RIP ANDREW

| Don't forget that Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard were both in super-glam band Green River before this (their cd has a pic. of ament in full glam makeup). This cd was, and is, pure hair metal. 'This Is Shangrila' is totally glam. Ditto 'Holy Roller', 'Mindshaker Meltdown', and 'Captain High-Top'. They were the 'transition' band between hair metal and grunge. Kinda like Hanoi Rocks was between punk and glam. Good CD!!!!! (p.s.-Green River sucks)

| Chris, I'm not sure you're on the right web-site, recommending Malfunkshun is a big no no on this web-page. Mother Love Bone were glamy enough for this site but that's where it ends, anything else in the grunge sence is not welcome!

| Mother Love Bone's Apple CD will live on as one of the best rock cd's ever. Probably one of the biggest what if bands ever! I too hate Pearl Jam, and the seattle s**t that killed the greatest rock music from some of the greatest rock bands ever! If Andrew were still around I know that Peal squirts band would have never happen ,and caused millions of us to boycot rock radio for years to come. Mother Love Bone Kicks ASS, nobody can say that this cd sucks or that it is Grunge! Forever MLB!!!

| Don't know this band, so I won't pass judgment on whether or not they should be here. But I WILL say that I absolutely hated, loathed and despised Pearl Jam from the very beginning, even though at first I actually liked Alice in Chains and Soundgarden and even thought, for a VERY brief period, that Nirvana maybe wasn't so bad. (Shit, I was in sixth grade!) As for Nadrew Wood and his 'tragic' death, hey, maybe if he hadn't touched the shit to begin with, he'd still be around.

| This Band rocked. MLB is NOT grunge. Not even close. Yes, they were around in Seattle when the grunge movement began, and yes, they have ties to Green River, Sound Garden and Pearl Jam, but make no mistake, these guys were glam at it's best. Andrew Wood would've been a star...

| I witnessed MLB. saw them twice live. went to Landrew's wake. he was a rockstar. even when nobody knew who he was. the shine e.p. was a turning point in my own musical adven. they were not grunge. malfunkshun was not grunge. Landrew (that's what he went by in malfunkshun) was total glam. don't you here the T.Rex influence. MLB belongs in the glam section and Andrew would be proud. not everyone from seattle were grunge.(Queensryche,Metal Church,War Babies)Seattle was a melting pot of individuals.

| MLB rocks and this album is pretty much everything available. putting them in a group with P.J. and all that, your really missing out if your a hard rock, glam fan. they were unique. check out their Argent cover of Hold Your Head Up. MLB was a natural switch when I was listening to all that 80's rock. they just did it with out the poofy hair. early Alice in Chains would of fit in this category too. think Motley Crue, P. Boy Floyd. But they did it with poofy hair and makeup. Greg Gilmore rocks.

| It's hard to say what would have happened. MLB could of been shot down with the rest of the glam scene, then again they could've helped it evolve into something else. I know Andrew was fired up and wouldn't of went down with out a fight, music and creativity wise. but he did go down and so did MLB. Sorry for going on and on but I hold them close to heart and being someone into this style of music, they belong here. thanks for including them.

| Mother Love Bone is just great to me, it has been years I bought their cd and still I enjoy listening this band like it was the first time...timeless musical poetry. Don't care wether you it grunge, glam, slurp or whatever you want...don't care at all when it comes to argue about 'music styles'...do all band really need to be classified ? It is glam if you want to hear it that way, grunge if you will...fantastic music over all. And if you don't like it, it is no big deal, just don't listen...RIP

| Awesome cd-there is no way in hell this album could be classified as grunge-Andrew's voice was better that any of those 'oh woe is me' grunge singers. The songs on the first ep were def. killer hard rock- esp. 'Thru Fade Away.' People bitching about this band being on this site prove that they really don't have anything better to do with their time. Alot of bands on this site had members that went on to be in bands that have nothing to do with melodic hard rock/metal. Roxy Blue, Keel, Tuff,.....

| Just forget about the fact that Ament & Gossard later formed Pearl Jam. MLB's music has nothing in common with Grunge. They were from Seattle, but then so were Queensryche, Fifth Angel, and TKO. None of those bands played grunge music. Hell, MLB were even covered in Metal Edge magazine right alongside the likes of Def Leppard & Poison. It don't get more Glam than that! Just listen to the music and judge for yourself.

| Good album and not even slightly grunge. I totally despise Pearl Jam & was recomended this album but refused to buy it until someone lent me a tape of it! If it had been even remotley Pearl Jam like,I would not have bought it! Also Malfunkshun is glam as well! When I first saw Landrew I thought it was Marq Torien!

| Yeah, this is a classic in my book, I have this and the EP separately though. This looks like both releases combined. Andrew Wood has nice tone. My favs are 1,2,3,6,17 but quite honestly melikes 'em all!

| A GREAT album. Some members went on to grunge, but at this moment they were straight-up rockin'. I love 'Stargazer' off this one, but every track is worthy. The musisianship on this one is near-flawless. One of my most prized cd's. A 10.

| I'm sick of this grunge vs. hair metal argument....like who gives a flying fuck! Yes, two of the members went on to form the dreadful Pearl Jam but so what!!! This is a stunner of a record, brilliant songs, great glammy lyrics with loads of references to Marc Bolan, Jimi Hendrix etc. and a fabulous, flamboyant front man who looked as though he could be found in any sleazy glam band on Sunset Strip. Just listen to this c.d. and cut the crap.....cos it rocks big time!

| Well, i just listened this Mother Love Bone album for the first time. this is not grunge, thank god, but i dont give this album a rate bigger than 7. Too big. Maybe less songs and during time. About 5 or 6 songs can be out of the album without missing. I dont know why, but remember me a bit of Guns and Hanoi Rocks. Maybe this is their influence, or sumthin like that. About 4 songs could be Top 10 on the release year. Anything from Malfunkshun or green river was released officially?

| Hey Edu, the Malfunkshun "Return to Olympus" is out of print but can still be found, and you can find Green River cd's on Ebay or any used cd store, probably even Amazon. To be honest I really liked this band a lot. Andy's lyrics were out there and the band was not grunge at all. Actually in the Love Bone Earth Affair video Wood described it as "love rock" whatever that is. His death was a tragedy and although I liked Pearl Jam's first cd, M.L.B. in my opinion was a way better band.

| This album is not grunge. It's sad about Andrew Wood, if not for his drug addiction, they could have been big, and maybe no one ever would have gave a flying fuck about Kurt Cobain and Nirvana or any of that other crap. This is a good rock album.

| Of course it's not grunge! This is typical good glam/sleaze. I bought this album years ago, 'cos I thought it would be grunge, but... it was not. This was glam. Some people should play something before they will start to type their keyboards and spam.

| Now that enough time has passed, perhaps people will revisit this excellent band and find a cd that has far more in common with the Sunset Strip than it did with the Seattle grunge scene. Andrew Wood really had something. I wonder what this band could have become had he lived longer. Essential Track: Capricorn Sister.
