Fanbloodytastic, maybe better than the debut(more time will tell). This is going to be a hard one to beat years end for sure & one that will get the pulses racing for the majority of people who frequent this site. The Slamer/Greer partnership is smoking on a set of songs that are generally stronger & more consistent than on the debut,(maybe due to the debut having a couple of Power era Kansas cast offs). Highlights - Very difficult ,Try 'The Sun Will Rise' and just keep going. A BIG 10

From: ROB GARCIA Date: February 29, 2004 at 4:44
billy greer & mike slammer are back with a bang!.loved the first album and this is just as good.totally recommended!!.oh by the way... how about another streets album guys?...erm...well i guess there's nothing wrong with dreaming!.

From: Rockhead Date: March 4, 2004 at 7:52
Very solid release. Superb production, good songs and great vocals. I have lived with this for a few days and am still finding new things on the disc. Fans of Streets, Steelhouse Lane and Power era Kansas.

From: AOR freaky Date: March 5, 2004 at 7:20
Second brilliant album from Greer and Slamer ! Class melodic hardrock/AOR ! Fantastic songs, great singing, class musianship and a superb production. What could a melodic hardrock/AOR fan want more ? !After the new Dakota best release of the year so far ! A MUST !!!!!

From: GlenRavine Date: March 5, 2004 at 7:29
Simply put it - brilliant - I can't see anything better than this being released in 2004. If there is - it will be a tough sell. This disc from start to finish has you humming. 'An Ocean Away' what a killer track. Kudos to the boys. Brillliant piece of work.

From: zino il tino Date: March 17, 2004 at 6:58
here's another tipical "new sensation" from frontiers label. absolutely cliched sound and poor artwork. save your money for the original streets album.

From: AOR freaky Date: March 18, 2004 at 4:47
Don't really believe 'zero Il zero ' This is BRILLIANT !!!! and Frontiers is since two years the top label on this planet (before it was Escape Music !). I don't know what the motives of zino (I call him zero !) are : trying to destroy Frontiers ? Is the man/woman fired there ? Has he had problems with Frontiers ? No matter what :he/she is no longer objective against Frontiers. ALL releases on that label are in his eyes crap, while other melodic, far inferior releases on other labels are great !

From: Rockhead Date: March 18, 2004 at 5:41
Zino are you deaf? Hardley new sensations when the 1st cd was released 3 years ago. This Cd is better than Streets 1st and whilst not quite as good as Crimes is still miles away from most releases over the last 2 years. Artwork is fine featuring photo and lyrics etc. Streets will never reform-this is as near as it gets. 99.9% of buyers will kove this CD Zino is the 0.1%. Maybe you should look beyond personal issues and praise when praise is due-Great CD BUY it!!

From: Rockhead Date: March 18, 2004 at 5:49
Zino-there is somthing I do not understand-how can this be cliched and bland and yet you advise the readers to buy earlier product by the same musicians? Are the song structures so radically different in structure? Is the production significantly worse? Has Slamer changed his guitar sound and style-NO on all 3 counts. I think your personal issues are clouding rational judgement on this release and you should not base a review on anything other than the music/ production etc.

From: Erik Date: March 19, 2004 at 10:00
What a brilliant follow up to the first release. Damn you gotta love this. Not a filler to be found. Highlight ? Sin City ? Ocean away ? Nope its the entire album. The guitar playing, the vocals. The depth of the songs. Yep its all there. Do what you must , whatever it takes, but get a hold of this album. Stunning !!

From: bdrums1971 Date: May 15, 2004 at 10:21
Now this is more like it!!! I search for new music with the classic hard rock sound with a melodic edge and great musicianship. This is the real deal. Many highly rated releases here have not impressed me, but this is AWESOME. Sounds just like the late 80's. Great writing, an awesome voice, and superb playing from Slamer. It's really nice to know there is still good stuff out there amongst all the crap music and melodic rock wannabees. Rock on!!!!!!!

From: Slamer Date: May 17, 2004 at 7:15
"It Should Have Been You" what a fantastic track !

From: thelostdj Date: May 18, 2004 at 18:57
I'll ditto that Slamer....this is really a great album.

From: Jordi Date: May 25, 2004 at 12:21

After further listening....I love it even more. This is what hard rock is all about! A must have for fans of melodic hard rock. I LOVE this cd. Fantastic. Go get it now!!

From: Border Rat Date: June 12, 2004 at 8:09
This is a much stronger album than the debut. The songs have a bit more energy and the singing and guitar work are great. The sun will rise & always from the heart are my 2 favourite tracks. There is a great variety of songs and tempo to please any rock fan.

From: carlos ciges Date: June 19, 2004 at 14:31
joder, cuando te crees q esta todo inventado te aparece esta gente y te deja con la boca abierta, esto es una joya casi q imposible de superar,si alucine con el primero con este me muero de gusto.long live SEVENTH KEY, charlicf@inicia.es

From: Bass God Date: July 27, 2004 at 10:14
Better than the first CD. Totally satisfying every AOR need for the bland new millenium. It is criminal that american radio will never play stuff like this. Here's an old cliche' "If this was released in 1985 they would be one of the biggest bands in the world"

From: koogles Date: July 27, 2004 at 11:36
No, Bass God... many great CDs were released around 1985 that didn't become huge. (Fortune, Aviator, LeMans, Robin George etc.) And Billy Greer is no Bryan Adams in the mirror. This isn't bad, but doesn't quite hit a commercial bullseye. "It Should Have Been Me" and "Always From the Heart" are the "key" tracks here. "Pyramid Princess" has a "Tomb 19" (from Kansas' Power) feel to it. Good solid release but hardly comparable to the "classics".

From: AOR freaky Date: July 27, 2004 at 15:45
I don't agree, Koogles ! This is a great CD, O.K., no Fortune, but better than Robin George (since when is that man's work classic ? !) and as good as Aviator or Le Mans (both great, but also no classics at all !). This is brilliant stuff ! The real greats as Fortune, Survivor, Styx, I-Ten, Signal, Foreigner etc. are out of reach, but the rest ? !

From: TIM (2) Date: July 28, 2004 at 4:30
I actually think this would've fared far worse in 1985, as these days we seem to be labelling as 'classics' albums with only 5 or 6 strong tracks. This is quality stuff, but for me it lacks a few real killer commercial tracks to pitch it anywhere near the Steelhouse Lane albums. It is a grower, but I haven't quite warmed to it as much as others here have, and I had the same problem with the debut. I'd take Aviator, Le Mans etc etc, over this one I'm afraid. 7.5/10.

From: AOR freaky Date: July 28, 2004 at 7:05
Nobody says this is a classic, it's only a very good record, one of the best these days, which are indeed a lot weaker that the golden seventies and eighties. But Aviator and Le Mans were in the eighties not top either, and will never be, although it are good records, not classics !

From: koogles Date: July 28, 2004 at 15:01
I never called Robin George and LeMans classics. Read my post again. Those CDs were merely "great CDs that didn't become huge" despite being released when the climate was right. The "classics" of '85 would include stuff like Shooting Star's "Silent Scream", Prophet's self-titled and Magnum's "On a Storyteller's Night".

From: Fiortoft Date: August 27, 2004 at 6:48
no use to talk about the past, this is a great record in 2004!just listen to "WINDS OF WAR",it's worth the price alone!AOR fans will find a gem in a song like "IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU",and hard rock fans will be pleased by "SIN CITY"(exciting the phrase that ends with "IF YOU WANT BIG MONEY,YOU GOTTA LAY IT DOWN"!!!!)I decided to buy anything Mike is involved with after listening to SLAVES OF A NEW WORLD and this project is a confirmation of his ability!!!Mike and Billy keep on rockin' please

From: Wotty Date: August 29, 2004 at 6:42
Hey Fiortoft, that is a spot on review on one of the best albums of the year....

From: Kip Date: August 29, 2004 at 16:08
Another A+ release for the awesome year 2004. Strong melodies throughout. Always From The Heart takes mixing acoustic and electric riffs with melodic solos and catchy choruses to new heights. Every song here is solid. Anyone who knows Slammer's work wouldn't expect anything less, which is a shame because the bar is so high, but at least you know what you're getting with each of his releases. A keeper and a gem. 9.5/10

From: Wotty Date: August 29, 2004 at 16:14
Anything with Mike Slamer,Need I say more....

From: Geoff Date: August 29, 2004 at 21:44
Yeah, Mike Slamer instantly ensures any release with his name attached will be a wonderous peice of hard rock (except for that messy Chris Thompson, and the Steve Walsh project) and this is no exception. I get the feeling I am not quite as blown away as the majority, but I do like this album a lot, especially the guitar playing. 'Always from the heart' is a personal fave of mine too. Good solid melodic hard rock release.

From: kikoborrico Date: February 17, 2005 at 5:39
Always From The Heart, 10, 10, 10, 10 & another 10.... PUF!!!! GREAT CD!!!!

From: Hellcat Date: March 2, 2005 at 16:22
Great CD ! and not only AOR .. there you' ll find also melodic hard rock sometimes !! A killer release !!

From: Stu Date: March 10, 2005 at 14:02
Being from East Tennessee, we all know about Billy Greer mainly because he is from here & he played bass for Kansas. He was the 1st super star from our area until Kenny Chesney made it in Country Music. But, Billy is an amazing talent on bass & vocals. This cd will amaze you. The musicianship on this cd is unbelievable & you will be singing The Sun Will Rise & Always From The Heart over & over in your head. Mike Slammer plays guitar & he tears it up on this cd. His melodies & structures make thi

From: Stu Date: March 10, 2005 at 14:04
to finish my sentance from above that was cut off: make this cd memorable.

From: Nick C Date: May 5, 2005 at 14:37
How can you decide between the two Seventh Key albums??? It's like trying to choose between Cheescake and Black Forest Gateau!!! Bah get 'em both!!! This boasts the same unbelieveable performances as the debut...maybe stretched even further. Brilliant! Winds of War and It Should've Been You are instant standouts and Mike Slamer kicks throughout this CD. No bad tracks at all here. Tip top toppity top release!

From: ChrisHolmes Date: June 9, 2005 at 15:39
A very nice record... U will like it! Nice and sweet AOR u can hear it here Metal Radio on http://radiohomepage.no.sapo.pt

From: Erik Date: August 14, 2005 at 4:37
Awesome release. One of my personal favorite "newer" bands. Massive sound. Great songwriting. Killer vocals and guitar playing. Its top melodic hardrock but yet with always this cathy feel to it. Higly recommanded. For me easily 9/10

From: Erik Date: August 14, 2005 at 4:40
Oh yeah and the guitar riffs and the "pounding drive" on Sin City. WHAT A SONG !! Hope the Seventh Key fire will rage on forever

From: Lovedrive Date: January 6, 2006 at 7:23
Muy bueno y bastante mejor que el primero. Si os gusta nos perdais el "Slaves of the New world" de Steelhouse Lane, mi disco favorito de la década (de momento :P)

From: Carlos A. Date: June 28, 2006 at 13:41

From: swriter Date: July 17, 2006 at 17:37
ok, simply, one of the best of the decade!!!!!! nothing more to say except, why is Terry only doing backgrounds???? hmmmm hahah

From: Vikki Roxx Date: August 28, 2006 at 4:02
Well this is one of the highlights of the year. At first I didn't know it's Kansas guys doing that, but good for them!

From: Lennie Date: September 7, 2006 at 16:16
To swriter....Terry isnt doing backing anymore. New Slamer out VERY soon and its gonna be awesome - perhaps the best of 06! cheers

From: z4roxx Date: November 7, 2006 at 13:02
As the debut this is another good one but not awesome. They alternate great songs with some horrible and forgettable filler,BTW if you find them for a low price take it.

From: ehyder Date: April 4, 2007 at 10:47
This record is awesome. While the first was more a collection of (great) shelved songs put together with some new tracks (equally great), this one puts together 10 monster songs with a slight progressive and epic feel at times (especially towards the end of the cd). "It Should Have Been You" however is the best ballad Foreigner never recorded and "Run" is totally Def Leppard. Buy if you are into Streets, House of Lords and Kansas ("Power" era).

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 5, 2007 at 23:27

From: z4roxx Date: April 7, 2007 at 13:25
Are you sure Rafo about this one?You have often good and right tastes here,so I want to hear again this cd,not so impresed after the first listening,I did remember a 5 times better debut but....??!?

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 7, 2007 at 14:32
listening listening & listening again and i think you are right they alternate great songs with some decent ones as 5,8,9 & 10 regards Andrea

From: george_the_jack Date: September 6, 2007 at 7:54
everybody must have this definetely!!!!

From: DanDare Date: September 2, 2008 at 18:01
Magnificent and mighty. Every tracks a winner, although 'The Sun Will Rise' and 'Always From The Heart' are among my favourite songs of all time. Having said that, all the songs combine excellent musicianship, melody, hooks and the sort of full sounding production that I love. Dynamite. 97/100.

From: Photochromic Steve Date: December 9, 2008 at 17:17
Mike Slamer operates around the limits of what I like before it gets too much like hard rock for me. Steelhouse Lane and Slamer (most - not all) are just within my tastes - Seventh Key is mostly just that bit too much hard rock - "too loud" if you like - for me. I do know that this is just what lots of people on HH want to listen to! The best songs here are "The sun will rise", "Always from the heart" and "Should have been you".

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 12, 2009 at 15:25
AOR meets Prog or vice verse, whatever you want to call it,we have one hell of an incredible album here!!!.The album starts with a great AOR song "The Sun Will Rise" followed by another masterpiece "Always From The Heart" then the Prog flourishes in "An Ocean Away"...another killer songs are "Sin City"(catchy) and the beautiful ballad "It Should Have Been You".I personally think this album is more consistent than their debut...anyway with such luminaires what can go wrong?.95/100

From: tomdwa Date: August 9, 2009 at 7:14
I agree with most of the comments above, absolutely brilliant release, big time-production, sounds like a powerful version of Kansas. Stand out-tracks for me : It Should Have Been You (of course), title-track The Raging Fire, and the epics Winds Of War and You Cross The Line !

From: george_the_jack Date: November 29, 2009 at 15:29
'You cross the line' is simply one of the best melodic rock tunes of the decade! EPIC!

From: DonDefo Date: November 10, 2010 at 5:03
Just heard some of their soings, I've been a fan of melodic rock/AOR from longer time so I'm exploring new good(I hope) bands e.g with the help of last.fm. Fantasic music. I love it!

From: 123charpenay Date: January 20, 2012 at 10:07
super class hard fm record.this album reminds me house of lords.like hol this project have a superior class than others bands.only killers no fillers.clear and strong production, super singer mr billy greer, fantastic guitarist mr mike slamer.a must have!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: rocksoul Date: February 7, 2012 at 14:05
Fantastic cd from the two great musicians IMO, in melodic rock. Slamer and Greer are a great couple, great taste in music and songwriting. Long life togheter. This year will come out with a new realese, I'm waiting for!!!! My favs: it should have been you, always from the heart, run, title track. Well done!!!!!!

From: maulars Date: May 7, 2014 at 14:17
top-notch release. My fave track "You cross the line".

From: 123charpenay Date: May 11, 2014 at 16:58
i can add to my comment of 2012 (i confirm it) that the japan import is a priority cause cause the bonus track is an excellent song at the same level than the rest!!!!!
