Good concept album, came with a comic book. In order to follow you need his latest and Brutal Planet. Part of a trilogy of albums that is one concept album. Never did get the other two, but found some great tunes and a collaboration with the vocalist from Soundgarden. Not his best, but a very good album none the less.

A wonderful CD that leaves behind the hair metal and returns Alice to the more dramatic, theatrical rock he is known for. A concept album based on Alice's own life & his ultimate return to Christianity. This album boasts more originality & creativity than anything off of "Hey Stoopid" or "Trash." One of the best concept albums since Queensryche's "Operation: Mindcrime." Favorite line from this album: "I paid to see the freaks, some finger-licking, chicken-eating geeks..." from "Freak Show" LOL!

Pretty adventureous for Alice in 94'. If you can get ahold of them try to get the 3-part Neil Gaiman comics that coincided with this album, really good stuff and ahead of it's time. Alice does drop the "hair" sound on this and it's such a "dark" sounding album while still having great melodies and as always with Alice great lyrics. Deserves a second chance as it was kinda forgotten about at the time amidst the "grunge" explosion. A great album with no fillers and a great concept & story!!

this can't be alice .i hope the next one will be better

This album got buried by the Grunge revolution, but it's a pretty adventurous conceptual piece that still holds up today. In light of the school shootings of the late 90s, the song "Lost In America" is frighteningly prophetic, considering it came out in 1994...

This album is great. Alice Cooper should get more recognition by the rock music scene. U got spoofs like Marilyn Manson who never mentions Alice Cooper as an influence in his music. Manson is clearly a modern day version of Alice Cooper.

Some good songs, but a little more laid back than I'd like from Alice. This leaves behind the party tunes of the previous 4 albums, but doesn't pick up the heaviness of the following album. Very listenable but not too exciting.

This album harkens back to his 70's work. Some very strong tracks such as "Lost In America", "You're My Temptation" and the ballad "It's Me". 8/10

too bad, i did not like it at all..............keep on listening the old staff as with most of the bands

From: Geoff Date: March 8, 2005 at 5:28
His blatant stab at big 80's style commercial hard rock came and went quickly, but it didn't really phase me. I was happy with the 2 albums I got out of it, but not too disappointed with this. It's a decent hard rock album, but I have no need to hear anymore.

Not a bad album, but not a great one either. In the crappy era of grunge, Alice gave way his metal tinge, and entered a more modern sound. It's not surprising to see the best two tracks on here were written by Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw : Your'e My Temptation and the great ballad It's Me. Lost In America was the first single and not a bad one at that! Cleansed By Fire was a great song to finish the album, but after these songs, the standard slipped a fair way. Concept was ok, but songs average.7

From: pie75 Date: July 12, 2010 at 10:08
a concept album after all those years it is listenable but no memerable tunes on here shame this got blown away by the grunge shit it came out at the wrong time that's all

This is my favorite Alice Cooper CD. Has a good storyline about resisting evil. Favorite songs are - Nothing's Free, You're My Temptation, and It's Me. Still the whole album is great.

This is actually pretty cool. Lost in America is a fantastic song, with those rebel teen style lyrics that did Twisted Sister so well. My version came with a comic book written by none other than Neil Gaiman. Alice Cooper was the bad guy in the comic and it is a Halloween themed story. It's pretty great to be honest. AC has always had that ability to maintain his marketability across many decades. While not sleazy like the last two albums, thus is prime commercial hard rock. A fine release. 83/100 or 93/100 with the graphic novel combination.
