If your looking for guitar driven hard rock these boys are it! New vocalist with the ideal range, plenty of gravel in his vocals to do the hard riffing music justist.

From: XLNT Date: September 24, 2003 at 8:57
Xlnt record in the classic hard rock style from these Swiss rockers. The album flows very well and the production is great. Musically they remind me of Hardline under the influence of German hard rock groups like Scorpions and Bonfire. No real fillers on Rising and the ballad “I will be there” is just beautiful.

From: anamal Date: October 21, 2003 at 20:45
this band doesnt throw any punches..if you buy 1 shakra cd you know what to expect on the rest..these guys are a in your face kick ass hard rock band with killer guitar hooks...

From: ACE Date: November 5, 2003 at 12:51
If anyone out there likes RISING they should check out POWERIDE, IT'S K I L L E R. Strange it isn't listed here!

From: Artie Date: November 21, 2003 at 23:38
anamal, I think you mean the band doesn't "pull" any punches.

From: motley Date: December 18, 2003 at 9:36
I have the three prior to this one...how is this release compared to the others??? Ive seen them live twice...

From: AOR freaky Date: December 18, 2003 at 10:04
Motley, if you like their previous ones, you will love this too ! It's at least on par, if not better (great production) than the other ones. Check it out ! Great hardrock, something for you, I think !

From: monk Date: December 24, 2003 at 10:58

ALBUM OF 2003

From: Chad Date: May 23, 2004 at 0:26
Very Very good album. Any fan of the 80's genre of music will love this album. Great guitars and vocals. You can't go wrong picking this one up.

From: Hrudet Date: May 23, 2004 at 17:32
Straight hard rock (occasionally melodic)influenced by bands such as Judas Priest and Scorpions. Guitar work is nice and vocals are quite good. This is the band's 4th full length album and their best in my opinion.

From: Geoff Date: September 5, 2004 at 21:13
The funny thing about this one is there is a new vocalist, but to be honest it's pretty hard to tell. Without losing a beat, they guys are back with another awesome hard rock release. I probably still prefer the previous release, but this is a great album either way. The ballad is great and a nice touch for Shakra. Elsewhere the album kicks buttocks as usual. Great CD and band.

From: Chad Date: September 5, 2004 at 22:13
Wow. Until Geoff noted that they had changed lead singers, I hadn't noticed. I own Poweride and this album. I can't really tell the change in vocals. I do differ from Geoff in that I prefer this release over Poweride. Both great albums though. Very good rock.

From: Mia Date: September 23, 2004 at 12:18
This is just another GREAT album from these Heavy Rockers! Hope they never change their style. Got all of their albums and just bought their new DVD + Live CD " My Life- My World" and they really kick some asses there, BUY IT!!!!

From: Maiden1979 Date: November 30, 2004 at 12:27
I can't believe how good is this album! All songs are absolute great, but expecially the last track "Trapped" blew me away! A "Buy or Die" release!!!

From: MJ Date: January 13, 2005 at 11:06
one of the BEST hardrock albums ever!

From: z4roxx Date: January 13, 2005 at 19:31
I think it so!!Great release from this Gotthard pure clone! But this cd is awesome!!Much more better than the other releases.10/10!

From: Maiden1979 Date: January 23, 2005 at 14:50
Gotthard pure clone? Sorry, but Gotthard are Krokus's pure clones! Shakra are 100 times better and more talented than Gotthard! There is NO comparison between them! Shakra beat them easily!

From: z4roxx Date: January 23, 2005 at 18:36
If you hear"dial hard"or"G"of Gotthard you can understand what I mean(ok,is right the comparrison with Krokus, too). But"rising"is awesome,by far their best release and little different as the others...Now Gotthard changed sounds and style and they are now an awesome band, too. But Shakra/rising is a masterpiece, very surprised to hear this one!

From: Maiden1979 Date: January 29, 2005 at 17:24
I have "Dial Hard" and I find it much more similar to Krokus or to Whitesnake than to the sound of Shakra. Ok, their first same-titled album is close to 70s rock and you can say it is like Gotthard (because they have same roots), but from the second album and after Shakra have the 80s Scorpions and Bonfire sound!Nevermind,we both agree that "Rising" is masterpiece!Check their DVD "My life - My world".It's awesome too!

From: z4roxx Date: January 30, 2005 at 18:43
Try to listen Gotthard/G please...regards!

From: JF Date: July 19, 2005 at 20:55

From: JF Date: July 19, 2005 at 20:57
Hey Sergio que fue, tenias razón fuerza con melodia. Más vale tarde que nunca.

From: ninjapeter Date: October 14, 2005 at 1:37
This is a great album. I rate this at 9/10. I just got the new album called "Fall" and it is an excellent one also. Buy both of these albums, you won't be disappointed if you like to rock.

From: z4roxx Date: December 29, 2006 at 13:35
One of the best cd since a long time in the genre, here’s what Gotthard missed in the old releases. This could be the greatest band in activity if Steve Lee sing with them IMO.10/10 all killer songs!P.S.Minchia Emi rovistavo nei vecchi vinili e quell 7 pollici dei Catacomb mi sa che l ho perso cazzo!!Valeva una cifra sicuro,in compenso mi è saltato fuori l’lp dei Loudblast che mi ero scordato di ridare alla mia amica 10 anni fà ahahah!!

From: 7Sinner Date: December 30, 2006 at 13:20
The best hard rock band in existence today...period....

From: shoemaker Date: August 18, 2007 at 5:43
Bonfireclones,ok but nothin special.

From: overkillrulz Date: December 31, 2008 at 16:56
Bonfire sucks and dont even compare with Shakra. These guys rock. 7Sinner got it right...best rock band in existence today. All their cds (except first one) are 10/10. Get them now!!!

From: metalmaniac777 Date: June 16, 2011 at 11:30
The ballad on here ("I Will Be There") is so shockingly good that my wife & I used it as the song for our wedding. Elsewhere, the band continues to unleash the same heavy-hitting hard rock sound they have become synonymous with, meaning anyone who gets excited by big guitars and super-sized riffs will definitely feel a twitch or two in their pants.

From: 123charpenay Date: April 24, 2012 at 13:49
after the extraordinary "power ride", i imagine it was difficult for shakra with a new singer to follow the path of their previous record.how stay at the same level?the answer is "rising".these guys are talented.super records ,irresistibles choruses, big big riffs, fantastics solos from mr blunier.and the ice on the cake a very strong and very clear production.ok on songs 3.8.11 there is some little modern touches.no problem for me they are little.i am not ok with metalmaniac.i don t like the voice of the new singer on the ballad track 4 ( it s only my humble feeling).track 10 "anything" is marvellous a real hit !!!!! hit!!!!!!!!!
