In my opinion this is Autograph's best album. Steve Lynch's guitar prowess is amazing. The title track says it all. Autograph says it "Loud And Clear"!

I agree. This album really rocked. Too bad it was basically a swan song for this band. They were finally starting to come into their own with this disc. I really liked the title track, She Never Looked that good for me, and She's a tease. I believe STeve Plunkett produces bands now.

Great cd, but Personally I still like Sign In Please better. This cd is much better than Thats The Stuff. I still wish they were around. I remember rockin' out to Turn Up The Radio on the school bus in 5th grade. I was the Bus Rockstar. Autograph brings back a lot of childhood memories. Bring back your childhood and Pass this along to your kids too. Get this cd and show America's youth what REAL music sounds like. There's more to the music world than Shit Bizkits and Vegetables (KORN)

I agree this is their best album and it didn't get as much attention as the others. Sad but true! I can't find this one in cd and it pisses me off. What's wrong with the record companies. It seems like there's alot of us still out here triing to find certain albums still. They have all of the rest of Autogragh cd's out why not this one.

Nice melodies, but not enough rocking. Way too many keyboards. She's a Tease is fun though. You can see the band performing a song in the film "Like Father, Like Son."

Autograph were one of the few bands out of the eighties who actually used keyboards tastefully and even better than Night Ranger, in my opinion. This is keyboard rock at its finest--not that cheesy shit you were bombarded with from bullshitters like Winger (though I do give Reb Beach my respect). Autograph should have made it so much further but, sadly, never did. It's a shame

This one is very good. Wish they were still around. Loud and Clear is my 2nd favorite Autograph album. If anyone wants to see them play live rent the movie Like Father Like Son (Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore). This movie came out in 88' and features them playing live at a concert that Kirk's character goes to. It's only for about one minute but fun to watch. They sing my favorite Autograph song "She never looked that good for me".

Has anyone noticed that with 'Loud and Clear', it looked like the band had finally established themselves and even got their own new logo? It may have not be the most unique logo you have ever seen but it is very cool. And after this what happened? The finest quality keyboard rock in the world and still yet to be challenged had already gone by the mid-80s. What was stopping them? It wasn't grunge, is all I know.
|
From: Desslar |
Date: June 27, 2002 at 17:44 |
I think what stopped them was: 1. Their albums weren't selling 2. Keyboard-heavy metal was losing favor by the late 80s 3. The lead guitarist wanted to quit the band
|
From: dokken6008 |

That's too bad. I guess you really can't blame Steve for wanting to leave--I mean, that guy should have been a star with his 8-finger tapping and incredible soloing. It went way past "Hammerhead"--that was just the tip of the iceberg as far as his playing went. But I see what you mean with your three reasons.

Hey, I'm 23 years old and I think Autograph are very talented. If they ever reformed and played a club somewhere around here, I would be first in line for tickets. "She Never Looked That Good For Me" should have been a number one single, what the hell happened? Oh well.

Autograph is my favorite band but I think this could have been a much more rocking album if they had just approached the mixing differently. The bass is too overbearing and the guitar distortion is stuck in the background. Oh well the songs are still great Loud And Clear, Dance All Night, She Never Looked That Good For Me, Bad Boy, Just Got Back From Heaven.

Yes, this album would be better without all the keyboards, but even with them present, this is still a pretty good melodic hard rock release and by far the best of AUTOGRAPH's studio releases. I think if they had put out another album circa. 1989/90, it would have been killer, as evidenced by the tracks on "Missing Pieces," which showcased the harder-edged sound the band was aiming for. Regardless, "Loud and Clear" is a signature piece in any 80s hard rock collection.

Ooooh boy, didn't this board light up with responses in the months I've been gone. Maybe more albums could be as good as Autograph's 'Loud and Clear' and more rock bands could innovate and create less-cliched music if everyone and their grandmother's weren't out there pretending they knew how to play the electric guitar. If more people knew how to actually play their instruments and maybe more people could master the art of playing the keyboard, music wouldn't be so freakin' boring. Yeah.

Obviously this CD rock's and will always be one of my favorites and that's all I have to say for this band. It would be amazing if all record stores could have ties to every record label (i'd imagine that computer's are there for a reason) so why not have every album ever made in this world be available so that when we purchase a CD in a record store we can make up our own CD'S with whatever music or cover we wish from any album? I'm sure alot of people have thought of that idea before.

Stop complaining about the keyboards! hey this is pop metal from the 80's. What do you expect? Sure, Autograph might have used keyboards more than other bands, but they did it with style. Not like Quiet Riot or such bands who totally ruined their songs. Autograph actually did have some talent, and should have made it. By the way, did I mention this album rocks?

Memories... I was 16 and a frequent customer in a record store in my hometown. The owner knew I was into hard rock so everytime I went there, he started playing some hard rock records for me, hoping I would buy some of them. I rarely got really interested in anything he played, but one day he put this one in his stereo, and I was totally stunned since the first bars of the title song. I listened to a couple next songs and was convinced & hooked. I had to buy it, and it still is one of my fav´s!!

Along with "That's the Stuff", I liked this one better than "Sign In Please" as well. I remember being home sick from school one day, and calling in & voting for the "Loud and Clear" video like 40 times on Dial MTV...it was video #10 that day,and to my knowledge, never made the countdown again. "She Never Looked That Good For Me" is a favorite as well.

This CD rocks because of the producer. Andy Johns was a long time friend of the band back in the day but couldn't produce the earlier stuff due to a busy schedule or something. I agree that this was their best effort. SIP was a little uneven, TTS was rushed but has great melodies. LAC was just too late with not enough support from RCA. They were a little silly (Plunk's hair was ! But he had one amazing rock voice) but definitely ahead of the party rock that came into play after they disbanded.

'She never looked that good for me' is my favourite Autograph song ever - a killer melodic gem. 'Everytime I dream' is an awesome melodic gem too, as is 'Just got back from heaven' and the excellent 'More than a million times'. I play those 4 a lot and rate them very high as melodic gems. Not too much of the rest, but a good solid album anyway.

After the 'treading water' that was the 'That's The Stuff' album, Autograph hit back big time with this album. While not quite as good as 'Sign In..' it runs it pretty close, and does feature 2 of the best tracks the band ever wrote in 'She Never Looked That Good' and the terrific 'More Than A Million Times'. The rest is pretty darned good aswell, but just falls short of the debut in the consistency of a couple of tracks.

Andy Johns stepped in to save his friends careers but it didn't work. Solid but unspectacular, and the record company cut them loose. Dance All Night and She Never Looked That Good To Me are probably my favorites here. Recommended for the price. And for die-hard Autograph fans, check out the Youngblood soundtrack for the song Winning Is Everything. It's pretty good.

Powerfull sound but always melodic with the keyboards. 80ies Heaven She's a Tease is a good rocker, Just got back from Heaven is another melodic rock gem, Down and Dirty another ok rocker, More then a million times a very nice mid pased song and the album closes in style with a very melodic typical Autograph rock song When the Sun goes Down. 90/100

This album is still freakin awesome all these years later. Plunkett has that David Lee Roth macho quality in his voacl delivery & even squelches somewhat like him in places. I believe they toured with Van Halen in '84. Anyway, the keyboards are played & placed well within the song structures & not overblown, which is no small feat, especially for a record that came out in '87. Overall, still a very tasty record.
