Excellent debut now finally issued on cd. Strong material with only a couple of tracks letting the side down a little later on. Musicianship is great (well it would be with a list like that) and for a debut album, Fiona's vocals are excellent throughout. If your into a slightly Heavier Pat Benetar, then this is the girl for you. |

By far Fionas best release. Just great catchy power pop. I never found this on CD (haven't looked for a while). But if you get the chance check it out. |

Hey Jez-I have 'Squeeze' and LOVE it, and 'Heart Like A Gun' which has its moments, but is WAY too poppy at times. Do you think I should get this one and 'Beyond the Pale'? How would you compare S/T and BTP with 'Squeeze' and HLAG? Let me know what you think. |

Melodicboy - i also have'Squeeze' and 'Heart' and would agree with you. I love the 'Squeeze' cd especially. I would definately invest in the 'S/T' and 'Beyond' without question. Of the 2, The debut just edges it for me. Compared to 'Squeeze' i'd say it was similar in style, but has a rawer, less produced sound. 'Beyond The Pale' is also excellent, more Hi-tech than the debut. See my comments for that one under the cd. Of the 4, Heart Like A Gun is the weakest by far the weakest. Hope that helps |

Thanks Jez, I appreciate the input. I like parts of 'Heart', but some it is pretty weak. I got 'Squeeze' first and it blew me away. If S/T and BTP are closer to 'Squeeze' in quality, I will definitely get them. I love Fiona's voice, and am glad to see these re-released so I don't have to drop 40 bucks on Ebay for them. Again, thanks. We melodic rock/AOR fans need to help each other out. |

Don't think the Fiona releases are that special, ladies and gentlemen ! Sure, it's not that bad, but more AOR by numbers. Good female fronted AOR is rare : I think only Heart was any good ! This is more average stuff ! |

There are really a lot of good female-fronted AOR-Acts. For example Heart, Witness, especially Toronto. Please remember 'Its the Singer not the Song' (sometimes). I prefer the second album. But Fiona has an interesting voice. |

Buen dicso, aunque el segundo es mejor. Pelos de punta: LOVE MAKES YOU BLIND (pero de donde saca la voz esta tia?) |

She tries hard but she can't sing...when i hear her voice, i think 'oh god, is she in pain or smt?' Great musicians in her albums though...the only bad thing is herself. |

Good Debut and Good AOR album, Fiona is one of my favorites AOR singers, El segundo mejor disco de Fiona IMO, ya que el siguiente si que es la consagracion definitiva, excelentes cortes como You're No Angel, Hang Your Heart On Me, Love Makes You Blind, James los 4 cortes que mas sobresalen en el disco, una gran cantante con temas muy marchosos de esos que gustan a los verdaderos amantes del AOR que hace que tu alma y corazon se llenen de vida y energia, eso es el AOR. |

For years all I have owned by Fiona is Heart like a gun and Squeeze, but seeing as a new album is just around the corner, I thought it was finally time to pick up her first two. Firstly while I thought there were some great songs on both those later albums, I always thought that overall Fiona has too many weaker tracks. Reading some of the comments on here I thought the debut would be different, but sadly that is not the case. some songs are pretty decent, but some are dreadful. The song James is bloody laughable in how bad it is. As someone else said on here, she really does struggle with her singing sometimes (I am not as harsh as the other reviewer saying she couldnt sing at all). She is not a natural singer, and it really shows when she tries to push her vocals, and is better sticking to the songs that dont involve power vocals. Overall, not a bad album, but certainly not one I will play more than occasionally. |

fine debut by FIONA with some great musicians on board like the great Bobby Messano!the songs have a certain mid 80 s feel and are catchy enough!the guitar work is outstanding and Fiona s vocs enjoyable!my favs are 'hang your heart on me' ,'talk to me' and 'you re no angel' and this one is great if you dig the female fronted bands! |

nothing extraordinary for this debut album.only 8 tracks for a very average a o r.sometimes fiona sing with her noze.it s boring.i recommand the last fiona album(retrospect records) and the classic 'heart like gun' two excellent records.you can forget the others fiona s disc.fiona is not at the same level than ann wilson (heart)who is a real goddess of a o r. |
