I had this also when I was younger. I'm still hunting for a cd version of it. I have the songs downloaded, but would like an original cd. Very catchy songs on this cd. Great guitars and vocals as well. I wonder why it never was that big. It's very close to Vital Signs and the other early Survivor cd's

Survivor's darkest album and the final chapter in the band's first "era", if you will. "Caught in the Game" has my favorite Survivor guitar riff of all-time. "Santa Ana Winds" is a haunting masterpiece, right up there with Axe's "Silent Soldiers". "I Never Stopped Loving You" sounds like an early draft of "The Search is Over". All in all, this is a solid work and a very underrated album in their catalog.

Certainly my favorite of the Bickler years. This album rocks like hell! As heavy as many of the songs are, my fave is actually 'Jackie Don't Go'. Great tune. 'Caught in the Game' is a close second fave. 'Half-Life' is my least fave song.

Hey why did John Bickler leave the band? does anybody know why?

Dave Bickler had to leave Survivor due to problems with his vocal chords. That's at least what the papers said 19 years ago (oh folks, think I'm gettin' old, haha). He re-joined the band in the late 80's for a Greatest Hits album where he was singing 2 new songs, only released there. Btw, had the chance to see Survivor live with Dave and later with Jimi Jamison - i like both lead vocalists. Today's my day - just have won an auction for the Japanese Version of "Caught in the Game" on eBay for unb

A band that has its place in history, concerning AOR. And this is a little gem, fantastic AOR, the way we hear it no longer these days ! The follow ups to this one are at least as good, so you can imagine what a great band this is. Hope to hear finally new stuff from these guys. BUY !!!

Great to see 'em back in the top 25 !! But who knows what's happening now with these AOR heroes ? Are they still in the business ? A new CD in the pipeline ? Hope so !

Survivor are still together, but a new album seems a long way off at the moment. Jamison is the singer, and Frankie Sullivan is back in the band. A whole album was recorded back in 93/4 when Bickler was back in the band, the album was called 'Fire makes steel'. Although the album has never been officially released, it is widely available (or at least was) through certain file sharing programmes on the internet. It is well worth tracking down.

Thanks for the information, Chris and indeed we should email to each other because our taste of music is very common indeed ! You can mail me on freddydekeyzer@hotmail.com ! Till soon ! Other people also welcome, even if they 'hate'me. No hard feelings against someone, only (sometimes) big differences about musical taste, but hey, it's nice to discuss that !

The Frankie Sullivan production on the album was weak. Put that CD on next to Vital Signs (produced by Ron Nevision, whose resume included Heart, Ozzy, Kiss, Jefferson Starship, etc.) and you'll hear the limitations. Songs are good, but there is no "hit single" like their previous album.

They really almost blew their career with this one. After the success of "Eye Of The Tiger" they put out this very average, non-hit sounding album like MetsDude said. The title track is great, but little else besides "Santa Ana Winds" sticks out. Half-Life is especially bad. 5/10

Disagree with BPK on this one. This was at the time an excellent album of slightly heavier sounding songs and a rawer production than those albums that followed. The title track, Jackie Dont Go and Half Life are my favourites but thisis a very strong album in it's entirety.

I agree with Rockhead and disagree with Big Papa K : this is a magnificent and 'heavy' record, another milestone in the history of Survivor ! Great record !

Totally disagree with BPK on this one. Absolutely love this disc. Esp. "Jackie Don't Go" and the title track. Was one of my favorite albums growing up and still sounds great to this day. Superb AOR. 9/10

I love all Survivor and don't make me pick my fav singer, but if I had to, it would be Dave and Eye of the Tiger is a great one and always within arm's reach. This is a very underrated cd in my opinion, not as strong songs as Eye, but very good from start to finish. What a great song Jackie is as well as Caught in the game, Santa Anna!!!!! wow, what a great song and guitar work!!! a bit heavier and less cathcy then Eye, but a good one!!!

This one is probably the BEST Survivor-Album they ever made. After their brilliant "Eye of the Tiger"-release...this album tops them all!! "Jacky don`t go" keeps you in AOR-Heaven and "Santa Ana Winds" is one of the best melodic-songs ever!!A MUST BUY!!!!!

Strong release with only one weak track which was "What do you really think". The rest of the album is very good & among my favourites are "Jackie don't go", "Santa Ana winds" & "Slander".

The album wasn't as succesful as Eye of the tiger, but is much more solid, with better song compositions. Santa Ana winds might just be the best Survivor song ever, and the album is full of great tracks. To be (re)discovered!
