I picked up TOXIC WASTELAND after reading about it in GUITAR9!! I was blown away! I thought it was a brand new release, I can't believe that this thing was recorded 10 years ago? WOW!!

From: ProgArtMusic Date: August 6, 2001 at 21:58
I visit this site regularly! Just saw the DOFKA "Toxic Wasteland" CD sell on ebay for $18.00 !! But here the ebay monitor says the artist is TOXIC WASTELAND instead of DOFKA? Wazzzzup?

From: Metalhead Date: August 10, 2001 at 13:17
Yeah, the ebay monitor on the DOFKA CD is not working on this site? There's another copy for bid on ebay! Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1454406132

Nice vocal work from Miller and Edgell. Miller really stands out-mucho talent. Dofka's music is good, but tends to fall into the same "humdrum drone" of every other speed whiz kid guitarist. No question of his talent, but at the same time nothing memorable or distinctive in this recording.

From: Don Norman Date: August 25, 2001 at 17:13
I bought this CD. It's decent, but not a whole lot of emotion in the guitar work. Good speed and arrangements, but overall I agree with the previous posting--nothing really memorable.

From: Billy Miller Date: September 1, 2001 at 12:54
I have this Cd and I think it's good. Dofka is not Chastain, but the guy can play great. It's worth a listen, but I've seen Dofka play live and heard other stuff he's done and this one is weak compared to his other material.

From: Tage Date: September 3, 2001 at 21:59
Traditional metal at it's best! Blazing guitarz, laced with high soaring vocal harmonies! Thumbs up! The new track THE ANSWER is shere genious! Let's hope we get a whole album in the vein of THE ANSWER!

From: Darren Date: September 5, 2001 at 15:04
Skip this one and get something else.

From: LISA Date: September 6, 2001 at 21:36
Haha, you people? The 3 bonus tracks on the re-issue are fantastic! I hear DOFKA are working on a new release, and if the bonus tracks on the TOXIC WASTELAND re-issue are a sign of what's to come, It will be a great release. However, I agree with some of the previous posts. But I heard this release 10 years ago before anyone was playing all this orchestral guitar stuff, so I guess I have a soft spot for this release. I think the re-issue is worth purchasing just for the 3 amazing bonus tracks!

From: Robert Mallory Date: September 12, 2001 at 17:39
It's good but not great. If you get it you will enjoy it--good guitar work but it does sounds like every other guitar player of the same style of music.

From: marilyn Date: September 20, 2001 at 12:04
very nice songs and jim dokfa is cool and i like him on guitar and i think shoud be more music like this

From: Jim French Date: June 15, 2002 at 17:37
Good guitar work but nothing to write home about. It sounds like Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Chastain, and The Great KAT cloned themselves and had a kid or something. Skip it.

From: MetalMeiser Date: April 24, 2003 at 8:19
I see the DOFKA Demo prior to TOXIC WASTELAND selling on EBAY for $27.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dllViewItem&item=2524919053&category=1574 Does anyone have this on CD?

From: love Date: August 27, 2003 at 23:22
you people need to remember when this album was done, and how old the guitarist was when he recorded it! He (Jim Dofka) has grown and matured as a player (awesome work with tim aymar (control denied) in the band psycho scream). And Scot has grown and matured as a singer (awesome work w/ mushroomhead!) A new album will be coming out soon, so be prepared. My take on the album........ a classic among underground music enthusiast's. Keep the peace!

From: love Date: August 27, 2003 at 23:29
and by the way, thank god jim dofka isn't david chastain! and if you liked the re-issue with the extra songs especially The Answer, you will like then new stuff! remember this was prog metal, before there was prog metal!

From: TIM Date: August 28, 2003 at 1:36
Wrong. Rush and others were way ahead of them.

From: love Date: August 31, 2003 at 21:59
i said prog metal, not rock Tim!

From: Tim Date: April 16, 2004 at 11:28
Jim Dofka has talent but this cd sounds generic. Reminds me of Chastain but still lacks something. Good vocals though.

From: sharatan Date: December 28, 2008 at 3:57
either dofka, either brick mistress, either screamer, jimmy dofka rules supreme! i don't have though this cd version listed here. i have toxic wasteland on vinyl(black dragon recs), the demotape and the cd version on black dragon recs(with the bonus trax from the demo)!

I will comment just once, no offense(ŋ?) of course, there are many people who is ironic here, donīt care about U. Anyway, to the point: This album is just Good/Ok Melodic Metal with a Neo-Classical touch and speedy moments as well, thin/average production and good double-bass drum work. "Speed Mental" "Guitar Opera" and "Pick Monsters" are Instrumental tracks. "Where the Monsters Live" and "Taken All We Had" are my favorite tracks. 8/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 14, 2010 at 23:18
