From: M. Allen | Date: November 3, 2003 at 17:09 |
Unimpressive album by a band that for some strange reason is adored in the melodic rock realm. The one decent CD these guys put out was 'Crack in the Wall' and even that was just OK. The overbearing, pompous keys on this release castrate the guitars, removing their hard edge, meaning AOR fans may like this better than the hard rockers. Not the worst album to come down the pike the last few years, but it's definitely down toward the bottom... |

Like Siskel & Allen, I disagree with Mr Allen. Domain has always been one of my favorite German bands. I am one of those that has an affection for keyboards with good uptempo melodic songs. I am facinated with the 'Collection' which contains a number of extended and alternate versions of some of the band's songs. As for the hard rock stuff quoted by Mr Allen, I know there are those who love it, but, this is the stuff that pulls my chain. Granted, this particular album is not the band's best, but |

This is the second coming of Domain - a whole new sound. Like Pretty Maids and others, they opt for a mix of AOR-type tunes and faster, more metallic tracks. I generally really quite dislike the more metallic tracks, but 'Can't stand what you do to me' is a killer melodic hard rocking anthem, 'Wings of destiny' is a very nice ballad, 'New horizon' is a beautiful melodic rocker and 'When it comes to love' is just a sensational ballad. The rest is quite bad, but they're killer tracks. |

Million Lightyears away from their brilliant first two albums! Bring back Bernie Kolbe, after he left the band their lost way! |
