If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.

The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Kansas CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from Kansas are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

My favorite Kansas album and a record that's as deep musically as it is lyrically. Kerry Livgren is an absolute genius. Probably the best American progressive rock album ever recorded. ESSENTIAL!!!

Progresivo pero con melodís, como ha de ser. Nada de jams encubriendo a malos compositores, tipo DT

This was the first Kansas record I heard and I think it's also the best. A rock'n roll version of Christopher Columbus.

Kansas is a great band, and indeed, dear Koogles, this is one of their best, but the best ? That's very difficult to say ! I also like the more AOR-ish Drastic Measures, Power is also wonderful etc. In fact, practically all Kansas records are essential. Great musicians, great songs ! This can't go wrong !

This is the album that got me hooked on Kansas. The cover grabbed me by the eyes, and the music grabbed me everywhere. IMHO 'Portrait' and 'Closet Chronicles' are the songs that best showcase the unique nature of the Kansas sound. 'Dust..' is obviously the most famous Kansas song, however it is so beautifully commercial that it is, in the end, a little bit misleading! Anyway, this album coupled with it's immediate predecessor form one of the most enticing packages in recent musical history.

I read a funny story in a guitar magazine. Apparently Kerry Livgren was sitting int he dentists office (somewhat recently, like 1996) and "Dust In The Wind" came on the muzak. He started laughing and someone asked him what was so funny. He just said "oh, nothing". What was he going to say, "I wrote that song"? Anyway, I just thought that was a cute little rock trivia story.

Prog rock!? Don't get me started. This little gem kicked major ass at the time and pleased many.

DUST IN THE WIND was of course one of the biggest number 1 hits back in the late 70s. All around the world it was a number 1 hit and even our parents know this song. I love it but this is not my fave KANSAS album. I think that their 1980 AUDIOVISIONS is better, but this one because the DUST...hit is the most famous KANSAS album.

Nearly half of this album is as great as their masterpiece: "Leftoverture". The other half is still good maintaining the bands high standards. Worth a spin often.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 1, 2017 at 11:27
Kansas' "Dust In The Wind" song is one of the most subtle and beautiful ones ever in the history of music ...the rest of the album contains great Prog Rock cuts in the shape of 1,2,3 & 6...enjoyable stuff...85/100
