Randy Jackson attempting to do Pop Metal! Good CD, but not great! Try All ZEBRA CD's instead!

Really weak album here - just plain bad songwriting with few hooks to speak of. The only impressive song here is Light of My Love, which has a great chorus, but considering the calibre of personell on offer here, the album should be able to boast more than one decent song. Nice front cover though... I miss long-legged chicks on the cover of my metal albums.

Personally I thought this album kicked ass. Good guitar playing, good fat choruses, Tichy is a good drummer (I saw him playing for Foreigner in '99 and Ozzy in 2000). If you dig Baton Rouge at all I think you'll like RJ's China Rain. Good ballads, good rockers, etc. Nothing groundbreaking - just good by-the-numbers hair metal that rocks!

Hey Squeezer, I believe this is the guy from Zebra but I'm not 100ure. If you have't heard Bed of Nails and you're into 80s metal at all, I think you'll approve though

Yes, this is the SAME Randy Jackson on American Idol, played with Journey and Aldo Nova, along with several other bands...EXCELLENT bass player!!!!!

Hey Ksymrtn, I believe you're mistaken...I have this CD and there are no big black dudes in the band. The Randy Jackson on American Idol did play with Journey in the mid 80s but it is not the same guy in Bed of Nails.

I meant to say that I have that CD and it has pictures of the band members w/ the lyrics....no American Idol judge to be found!

The Randy Jackson listed here is from the band Zebra http://www.thedoor.com/discography.html It's not my buddy from American Idol.

Well, Kim IS right that RJ the bassist (and AI judge) played w/Journey & Aldo Nova. But this RJ is the guitarist & singer from Zebra...

thanks for all people who respond my comment, i have bought this album. unfortunately, unlike rocker76 CD, there aren't the pciture and lyrics. i think this is good album, but that's all. very standard rock album. 7/10.

Good solid hard rock, but I'd be lying if I called it any better than that. It's not bad by any means, it is very well played, but the majority of songs are just pretty good hard rockers. Few real gems, but I like 'I loved you lied' and there are a few on here. Pretty good hard rock CD here.

A friend of mine and I went & saw Randy in a tiny bar in Alexandria Louisiana close to when this CD/Album was released. Only Randy was all alone, doing his whole set by himself...there was about 8-10 people in the bar at the time. Randy has always been a cool guy, his stuff with Zebra is OUTSTANDING! He did mostly Zebra covers in the club in Alex with a few of these songs...& as always he was cool enough to hang with us for several drinks in between sets. We were the only guys there Randy knew

Pretty average straight ahead hard rock. Nothing extraordinary here but it's not bad either. 'I Loved You Lied' and the title track are the standouts here. The rest are pretty much average hard rock.

There are some hooks on here bigger than the Great Wall of China, served up on a platter of big ol' guitars. The melodies rain down on your ears with their catchy, pop-metal approach, and if there is nothing here that makes you exclaim, "Oh my God, that was awesome!" neither is there anything here that will make you groan, "Holy shit, that was terrible." It's kind of like the plain-faced girl next door with the OK body...you wouldn't kick her out of your bed if she wanted a romp, but she's not exactly marriage material. Same goes for this CD...it's good for the occasional fun listen, but nothing you'll want to reach for on a regular basis.

Randy Jackson had a little bit of a name from his previous band Zebra. But I reckon they should have just called the band China Rain, without making it about him. This cd is by no means bad, but neither is it a classic of the genre. For me, the title track is the best track. I do play it every now and then. It is basically straight ahead 80s hard rock. That ain't a bad thing. Rated B-
