Typical 80ies! The song 'Balls to the Wall' is an all-time classic! The nutcracker still makes me shiver every time I listen to the song!!!

Thier best album. All songs have good riffs and/or melodies well composed little if any formage!Excellent production. Wolf Hoffman's guitar tone is just crushing! The only filler here is the ballad.Must have!

Not as good as Restless And Wild, but still a good release. Maybe a bit overproduced.

Even if you can't carry a tune, you can sing most of the songs here because they are just so MELODIC.

I agree with Kim. Nowhere near as good as R&W. The title track is a classic but the rest is below par...for me anyway.

I agree 100% w/ my buddy Art ( his comments above ) This is a classic melody metal group. ( Even their new stuff, and Udo's new solo stuff still is great.) They are one of my alltime favorite bands. And this is probably their best album ( I've never heard a bad Accept album, though! )I don't think there is a bad song on this one!

Siguiendo la estela del Restless, aunque en este el sonido es mucho mejor,Autentico Heavy Metal ochentero, donde destaca uno de los himnos por antonomasia del Heavy Metal Balls To Wall.MUY BUENO.

Good CD from a great German band. I think MTV hurt these guys more than it helped them. The singer looks like a mini-Rob Halford without the leather, and if I only heard the music, I could not possibly imagine him looking like that.

I would buy this just for the barbershop quartet harmonies alone. But when you throw in the soft keyboards and gentle saxophone solos throughout, this becomes a MUST HAVE for any AOR collection. A little like Journey meets Air Supply, with just a touch of B-52's thrown in. I am LOVING it like a naked man after a body wax!

This was the album that broke Accept lose in America. The title track became their calling card. To this day when you mention Accept you'll get the reply, 'Didn't they record 'Balls to the Wall?' Not much to say on this album except that it is one of the all time classics of heavy metal. Udo strut his stuff all over this one. My wife still cringes every time she hears those balls being squeezed in the title track.

Balls to the wall is one the best heavy metal albums ever. It's well produced has good songs. Very heavy yet melodic. You can sing along to it so well that your vocal chords will be doing overtime. It first because of some lyrics I thought they were gay but it appears that some woman called Deaffy wrote the lyrics. OOOF!!! slight panic there.

Please go back to your psych.hospital and take medication for what ever you are dealing with. This is bloody metal and not any tower of power get2gether....!!!!!!

Just popped in a CD of Accept tunes I made a ways back. This album just kicks ass. I agree, not quite as good as Restless, but I actually prefer the production on Balls. Also thought this was their peak before they tried to get a little too melodic for their abilities...ala Metal Heart.

The only Accept disc I ever owned(even if for only a short time).Udo's voice makes me think of nails on a chalkboard for some reason. I think this one was probably a little more popular than it should have been just due to the fact that it had the 'naughty' song 'Balls to the Wall' on it.'London Leatherboys' & 'Turn Me On' were passable as well, but overall, not a disc that I held onto.

Whiplash 1972................Hmmm what can I say. If you dont like Accept with a name like yours. UDO's voice might be annoying, but the music.............Uhh its phenomenal, and if you can live with the UDO growls, you will have one hell of a cocktail. I have many of their cd's, and theyre one of the few bands I will listen to in 2020.................:-)

LOVE this album. The title track, 'London Leatherboys,' 'Losing More Than You've Ever Had,' 'Love Child,' and 'Losers & Winners' are my faves; I just skip 'Winterdreams' (CD's are SO much better than albums!) I always thought this was their HEAVIEST...that is until I heard 'Death Row'! But this is probably my fave, but I LOVE the song 'Restless & Wild'

AT FIRST STING' (SCORPIONS); 'CRUSADER' (SAXON); 'STAY HUNGRY' (TWISTED SISTER); 'WASP' (WASP)....ETC..10/10.

Me parece simplemente insolito que a alguien no le guste Balls to the wall.

accept kicks ass, they do music like it should be done, the new crap they play today, so called rock music, ha! kicks ass, old school metal is what the new bands should learn. songs like losers and winners and restless and wild, ahead of the pack and balls, just plain rock, like old metallica, and old van halen... and thats the bottom line....

This one is a bit of a mystery. They come out with an essential Metal Song in Balls to the Wall and then top it off with one that would rival it with London Leatherboys. Then the album sort of disappears. It tries to reel you in with Head Over Heals but falls short. If you want to hear the two killer tracks mentioned earlier, save your dough and buy the hits album. Do not give up on this band though if it your first introduction to them with this album. They have much better in their repetoire.

Very good 80's style metal ! Love 'balls to the Walls' Udo's voice was not a duplicate of what was out there already.Good axework, strong backing vocals and melodies makes this one a keeper for sure.A little lighter than some of their previous stuff, but still a keeper.

I got to see Udo open for Saxon a couple of years ago in Nashville at the Outer Limit. He did alot of the classic Accept stuff and ended the show with an ass kicking version of Balls to the Wall. Was a hell of a show. Balls to the Wall is a classic metal album and has earned its place in metal history.

A good Accept album - but I dunno momentum seems to have been lost following on from the steamroller duo of Breaker and R & W. The opening title track (with the eye watering crunch mid song) and London Leather Boys are great as is Love Child and Losers and Winners. The other songs are good but it seems like the band are cruising a little. Still piddles on most of what was around at the time - though I was a little disappointed when I got this baby home. Good but not essential.

This is the album that made em' famous, but is clearly not their best. While 'Balls To The Wall' is an all time metal anthem and always will be, the rest of the disc has enough weaker moments to qualify it as a hit and miss affair I'm sorry to say. Don't get me wrong, the songs that hit the mark like the title track and a few others really hit the mark, but the ones that don't are almost skipable at times. This is still a good disc and will satisfy any Accept fan fully.

A very catchy, memorable early 80s heavy metal album. The title track, which is the band's most famous song, is the highlight. Songs such as 'London Leatherboys', 'Turn Me On', 'Losers and Winners' and 'Love Child' are also very good. Definitely one to pick up if you don't have it yet.

They have always been deeply influenced by Judas Priest and this record is the clearest sign of thay Just listen to FIGHT IT BACK - sounds like a younger and uglier sister of SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE Generally all tracks are judaslike."Balls" would never have been recorded if records like BRITISH STEEL and SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE weren't recorded earlier. The german answer to Judas.

excellent release by ACCEPT once again and probably a step forward in terms of production and sound!the basics are present and of course a big song like "balls to the wall"!the rest of the songs are remarkable too and overall this one delivers easily!

From: Doghouse Reilly |

If somebody asked me, "In one song, what does heavy metal sound like?" Not "thrash metal" or "death metal" or "hair metal" or any of these other subgenres, but just pure, undiluted "heavy metal." I think I would respond by playing the title track from Balls To The Wall by Accept. That's pretty much it right there in five minutes and forty-two seconds. That opening riff has THE nastiest, most snarling guitar tone ever; the rhythm section is absolutely pounding; the gang vocals are just massive, like an entire infantry division
|
From: Doghouse Reilly |
Date: April 5, 2021 at 16:32 |
And then Udo is ... well, he's Udo. Not a silky crooner by any means, or a helium-gulping power-metal yelper. In fact, when he tries to actually sing, like on "Winterdreams," it bombs. But maybe it's that super-serious German approach, but in some ways, Accept are even more "metal" than Judas Priest. Starting with songs like "Take On The World," Priest developed this light-hearted, life-affirming approach. Not to say that Accept weren't positive in their own way; they just came at it with more steely-eyed, grim determination than Priest's happier soccer-chants. So we've established the title track as an evergreen metal classic, and "London veatherboys" is great as well. The next couple are a bit less crucial, but then we hit a really strong run of songs through the middle of the album, including the rough sex of "Turn Me On" and the sneering "Losing More Than You Ever Had." In '84, just before thrash took off, this record must have sounded utterly crushing.
|
From: Dx7 |
Date: October 26, 2021 at 12:39 |
Thematically, Balls To The Walls takes Accept to another level: more dramatic, more streetwise, more sexual, more libertarian. Accept and Gaby Hoffman manage to produce one of the many masterpieces of 1984 metal year.
