Competent follow-up to "Stick It To Ya". "Reach For The Sky", "The Wild Life", and both versions of "Days Gone By" highlight this disc. I would recommend it because it can be bought cheap on eBay.

"Real love" - the best song I've ever heard!!

Of course 'The Wild Life' sure as hell doesn't amount up to Slaughter's first record but it is--as best put by Rycheage--a "COMPETENT follow-up". There is enough here to keep the listener interested. And yes, you can buy 'TWL' DIRT-cheap no matter where you go. My old man got me mine for three bucks.

Sorry man but I can't think of this album without thinking of the video for "Real Love" which just might be the WORST hair band video of all time and the fact someone didn't serve jail time for foisting that thing on the American public is a injustice that can never be fixed. That being said this album is extremely mediocore and hey I dig these guys.

It's not their best, but it's worth getting for a few songs like Rycheage said.

I really liked this album. Its rockin striaght-forward rock music, with a little filler but overall a solid album from these guys. These guys are animals, you can tell from just listening to this album.

A more balanced follow-up. This is not so impressive as "Stick It To Ya" but quite satisfied me also. A very nice intro by "Reach For The Sky" and other songs rock well enough. There are also good power ballads here as in the first. So although not being a "Stick It To Ya" I liked this album because it's just a Slaughter thing.

One word - versatility! So many different kinds of songs on this album. Hard rockers like Reach for the Sky, the title track & Shake This Place. Party tracks like Dance for me Baby & Move to the Music. Medium-pace songs like Days Gone By, Streets of Broken Hearts & Real Love (yes, that is such a great song!). And Old Man - well, that´s just fun! I love this album for all the diversity it offers!

Overall this is a great follow-up to "Stick It To Ya". Good consistent hard rock. Mark Slaughter has a great voice and Tim Kelly's guitar work continues to be killer. Real Love, Days Gone By, and The Wild Life are stand-out tracks. Like everyone else has said, you can find this cheap on Ebay or a used music store. You can't go wrong with this one. A great investment if you're into melodic hard rock!

This is one of their best albums along with "Fear no Evil". much better than their first album for mine. Good songs and no filler insight which unfortuately became standard on their albums after this. Snaffle a copy.

I like this one more than "Stick It To Ya". The band adds some, dare I say it, Queen influences, especially on the ballads like "Days Gone By". Like the first album, there is some filler toward the end, but an enjoyable first half salvages the album. 6/10

Not as good as the debut, IMO, but a very good CD anyway.'Days gone by' is a beautiful ballad, 'Times They Change' is a killer rocker, 'Real Love' is a melodic gem, 'Streets of Broken Hearts' is an awesome pop rocker, 'Hold On' is cool hard rock too, and my fave 'Do Ya Know' is great too. Actually, when I look at it like that it's nowhere NEAR as good as the debut, but still a very good album. A few fillers though...

Y Reach for the sky, un trallazo!

Some really good songs on this one, but also some not so good. Mark Slaughter's voice is rather annoying, a clear minus, but solid drumming and cool riffs are on the plus side. Sometimes the endings of the songs are way too long (irritating), not consistent enough song quality wise. Production is much better on the debut, not so good on this one. Quite disappointing release overall I'm sorry to say.

RECOMENDADO!!!

Listening to this album was like standing in a lift and hearing the guy (or girl) standing next to you fart - needless and unpleasant for anybody that has to hear it. And it's too long as well. All this is showing off, who needs 14 songs that all sound the same with the same guitar solo in each of them. Silly men. 30/100

This album somehow defined what Slaughter was gonna be...a band for the masses(especially teens)...catchy rocking songs and an eternal loving ballad in "Real Love" but with a chessy video that for me is at the end is a big shot(my fave song of them undoubtebly)...about the rest of the tracks we have goodies such as "Reach For The Sky","The Wild Life","Days Gone By"(nice),"Dance For Me Baby","Move To The Music"(great groovin' sound),"Shake This Place","Streets Of Broken Hearts"(AORish mid tempo)& "Perfect World"(nice B/T)...recommended if you like the "poppy side of rock"...i quite dig it...90/100

There were times in the first half of 1992 when you could close your eyes and pretend it was still 1990. Slaughter's second album is one of those times, as the band goes back to the well for another batch of party-hearty songs made for summertime cruising. The trouble with Slaughter has always been that their songwriting just isn't consistent, and so we get another mixed bag of the good, the bad and the truly awful. The sound is a little drier, as the drums don't have that electronic, Def Lep-like BOOM as on the debut, and Dana Strum has backed off some of the sound effects. The disc opens just like the last one did, with a building intro into a heavy, lumbering track in "Reach For The Sky." The title track was the first single, and when I first saw the video in April, I thought, "Yep - all's right with the world!" "Shake This Place" and "Dance For Me Baby" keep the party rolling all night. "Real Love" was a bad choice for a follow-up single - a shrieky, hookless ballad that stiffed.

Another ballad, "Days Gone By," has that whole Desmond Child "big power chords fading down to just piano and vocals for the verse, then building back for the chorus" thing going on, but it's no "Angel." I actually liked "Times They Change" quite a bit, even if it is a bit too long. "Streets Of Broken Dreams" is another good mid-tempo semi-ballad i the style of "You Are The One" off the last album. But, like the debut, there are just too damn many songs here, and the fun runs out before the disc does, closing finally(!) with the plodding 'Do Ya Know" and then they try to get all bluesy and do their own "Hangman Jury" on "Old Man." Again, these guys are not Aerosmith, even the sober version.
