Despite living in the "Bongiovi" shadow, this lady had a super voice, plenty of talent, dynamic stage presence, and hot looks as well. I had the pleasure of being in a band that opened for her group in 1989. She and the band were first rate musicians and all-around great people. It's a shame she and the guys didn't go places with all that talent. Some really good music on this one-get it if you can find it! johnnyrocker@hotmail.com

Great tunes on this one! "Jealousy" and "Flower Can't Grow", plus her version of "Somebody To Love" are the best cuts on this one. She should have gone further; she and the band had SERIOUS TALENT. Thanks Johnny for the info!

I have this cassette and have enjoyed it for many years now. I live in Ireland but was visiting friends in the US in 1989 and saw Jodi Bongiovi when my friend Johnny's band opened for her. I met her and she and the fellows were so kind. They had a very energetic and quite colourful stage show and to be frank, rocked like hell. Very good music. Thanks for Email Johnny!

Great to see Jodi on this website! She was underrated for sure and should have been as big as her cousin Jon. Some really great hard rockin' songs with melody on this one. Jodi may not have headlined arenas but she's tops with me. Thanks for info Amy.

From: Aaron Date: April 24, 2001 at 15:33
Saw her live in '89 and she was great. Samantha Fox with balls maybe? Ah hell..she was better looking than Fox and could sing a lot better too. Another great underrated record, I'd recommed it.

WOW! Jodi after all these years....I wondered what happend to Jodi and never seen her on the web before. I love this tape..it's one of my all time faves.

I seen her and her band and they rocked! Is this out on CD now? I'd love to have it on CD. It's a real good one with great songs.

Who's Jodi Bongiovi?

From: MELODICROCKKING Date: September 18, 2001 at 6:15
Just a quick note to say that a few members of the band on this CD are ex members of the excellent AOR band Bystander - who Mitch Malloy was also in. Great CD with a few Bon Jovi style tunes.

From: Marty Date: March 1, 2002 at 12:55
This is by far one of my favorite albums of all time. It would be hard to narrow it down to my favorite song. I guess I would have to say "Two sides of Love" and "Keep the Light Burnin" I would have loved for her to make a second album.

From: jb Date: April 14, 2002 at 23:01
it was a great under rated album

From: robert Date: February 25, 2003 at 15:35
Me parece q es la prima. La relacion musicalmente hablando viene de antiguo, pues el tio d jon trabajaba en los power station studios...

Two songs Emergency and Freeze This Moment were written by NY finest unsigned band at the time French Lick. I would have loved to see Jodi and the band live in 1989 but failed to. If someone has got a live tape or CD for trade or sale please email me. Would like to know of Jodi's whereabouts too... camcross2000@yahoo.fr

The talent must run in the family

From: andy Date: February 22, 2004 at 10:38

From: Dave Date: June 28, 2004 at 1:55
I have to ask the bleeding obvious , is she related to you know who???

From: T-Bone Date: June 28, 2004 at 16:32
Well, if you had read the previous reviews, you'd find the answer. They are cousins

sounds and looks like a kid trying to be grown up.the music is ok.but the voice is poor imo.worth picking up if you are a die hard bj fan.that bon jovi.lol

From: Dave Date: September 24, 2004 at 18:11
Well you would have to be worse than a die hard fan to pick up anything released now or up to 10 years ago by any album with the Bongiovi name associated to it !!!! Oh , and that goes for movies aswell.

sem dúvida isso é um "must" para os amantes da música AOR... Maryanne é ganchuda e gruda na cabeça... somente uma cirurgia pode tirar isso de lá!! lol = no doubt it's a must for the AOR music lovers... Maryanne's catchy and glue in your mind... only a surgery can take it from there!! lol

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: January 21, 2007 at 20:29

Hi, can somebody help me? I've downloaded the album but I need the covers(front and back). hermeswr@bol.com.br

This sounds like Tiffany trying to sing hard rock. I'm a huge fan of female fronted hard rock/metal, but this one was just average to me. The music was alright but I didn't care for the kiddy sounding vocals. Her version of 'Somebody to Love' doesn't compare to Grace Slick IMO. If you have every other female fronted act out there and you want something new, pick this one up (cheap). Otherwise, move on to item on your want list.

Ok guys for me it was a decent album with some vintage sound in certain songs (sounds sometimes like a more melodic version of The Runnaways' old material)anyway the ones that i liked the most were "Two Sides Of Love","A Flower Can't Grow In A Shadow" and "Freeze This Moment" then we have some nice moments like the ballads (#4 and 9)and the cover "Somebody To Love" is acceptable too...her voice is raw like Cindy Lauper (sounds almost the same in the last track "Fantasy").83/100

From: parasiteladyxo Date: January 20, 2012 at 16:27
I did not get into this at all. It's been a few years since I heard this one but from what I remember, it was just not worth my time. I got rid of it after I heard it. It's not the WORST thing in the world but it's just not something I got into at all. I thought it was a joke the first time I heard it, though her cover of "Somebody to Love" was passable. Clearly doesn't do the original justice, but it was alright. I don't think talent ran through the whole Bongiovi clan.

From: hair metal again Date: July 4, 2016 at 5:27
pretty fine debut for JODI BONGIOVI back in 89 that could be much better with a better production and better artwork on the front!commercial hard rock music with female vocals with some good songs like "two sides of love","a flower can t grow in a shadow" and "dangerous" .useful addition in every collection
