If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Continuing on from where the megatastic 'Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw' debut finished, 'Asault and Battery' is another great aural battering on the ears. Not quite as good as the debut, but that was always going to be a difficult task to beat. What you get is Ten (12 with the re-issue) solid tracks, Peter Wells fab slide playing and that voice, oh that voice. Now newly re-issued with 2 bonus tracks 'I Had You First' & 'Rock 'n' Roll is King'. Bloody excellent stuff. |

A band that deserved more back then but the AC/DC monicker labeled on them somehow restrained the band's music proposal...this is a good rocking album with some highlights in the shape of tracks #2,4,5,6,8 & 10...enjoyable stuff...80/100 |

On one hand, Assault And Battery isn't as good as the first album because it doesn't have "Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw" or "Nice Boys" on it. But on the other hand, it doesn't have "Stuck On You" either, which you could argue makes it a better, or at least more consistent listen. In the end, call it a draw, and enjoy the many, many highlights, including "Out Of This Place," "Magnum Maid," "Rock 'n' Roll Is King," "Suicide City" and the title track. The frantic, fuzzy riffs, speed-boogie rhythms and thuggish backing vocals are all in abundance, as are Angry Anderson's wake-the-dead yell and colorful storytelling. You gotta be some kinda badass to like this music. |
