Awesome debut form Legs. If you are of a certain age or dig 70's rock then this is for you. THe Zoom reissue was excellent giving this disc a fresh sound. It's Not The Music, Stage Fright and Rat Race are my favourites and the lyrics to Satin Peacock are hilarious (but done well). I love this album, younger listeners may wonder what the fuss is about. The US equivelent to Deep Purple (but IMO with better songs)

Classic debut indeed, and along with 'Out On Bail' & 'Land of The Gun' my favourite release by them. 'Stage Fright' 'Rat Race' ' Satin Peacock' - classics one and all. An album that still stands up well by todays standards, and more importantly a band still going strong if the two new cuts on the new 'Favorites Vol 1' best of are anything to go by.

Naturally "Diamond is a hard rock" is an underground classic. However the debut is my favourite lp too. The stand out cuts for me are the epic "Rat race" and "Can't find love" where Mike Prince comes into his own on the lengthy keyboard intros - stealing a few tricks from Mr Giuffria's song book (yes I know they're NOT a pomp band before anyone says anything!..) Still a good band, though IMHO started to run out of steam from "Town bad girl" onwards.

WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT : THIS IS MY ALL-TIME NUMBER 1 ALBUM ! 8 SONGS AND 8 MASTERPIECES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RECOMMENDED ! BUY AT ANY COST ! THIS IS CLASSIC STUFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: Axe-Machine Date: November 15, 2005 at 15:36
Quite simply one of the most breathtaking debut albums of all time. Granted, eight tracks may not seem like a helluva lot, but when you take the time to appreciate the quality of songs such as It's Not The Music, Rat Race and the unbelievable good Stage Fright, no self respecting AOR fan should be found lacking satisfation. Absolutely essential, along with Out On Bail. Superb and perfectly executed Classic AOR. Essential. 9.5/10.

THanks, Axe-Machine ! It's always nice to hear that I'm not the only one who finds this a MASTERPIECE ! As said earlier : by far my ALL-TIME NUMBER ONE ALBUM !

I get the impression everyone else likes this one alot aswell, going by the comments above. Listening to the new 'Diamond Are Forever' album now & have submitted it aswell, so will post my useless,un-intelligent waffle when it appears on the site.

A great, unique band. I love their early stuff. They combine a purplish groove with american attitude, and add in more synthetic pomposity than they are given credit for. Highly talented, and in a class of their own, really.

Fantastic record, I discoverd this group a couple of weeks ago.... Now I'm looking for their 2nd effort "A diamond is a hard rock" but it's hard to get. Some ideas?

From: underworld king Date: December 13, 2007 at 3:17
Excellent debut from an underrated band. One of my all time favorite bands.
