This is the best Y&T release. This one to me is like AC/DC's Highway To Hell,Van Halens S/T and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon.(A complete album!) So many will disagree but that's what makes music magic. To each his own. If you don't have this one in your collection yet,get off your ass and find it. After all it's Contagious.

From: WADELINK Date: October 19, 2001 at 8:32
THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2002 at 14:02
Not the best Y&T release, Mixaplic... that distinction belongs to 'Down For The Count'. Certainly, not a bad CD and that HUGE Kevin Beamish production can definitely give you Whiplash. My only complaint is the whole package sounds a little too calculated at times, 'Contagious' and 'L.A. Rocks' being prime examples. Great songs, but just slightly over-wrought, as if the production values got in the way of the attitude and writing. Still, an extraordinarily good CD.

From: mindy Date: February 3, 2002 at 9:34
I found this cd in the used bin for only $3.99! I would like to thank whoever traded in this album! CONTAGIOUS is a definite 9. Great cd!

From: Federico Date: April 8, 2002 at 21:12
One of the best cd I ever bought. Great anthems like Contagious and Bodily rock. The sound of the two guitars is amazing. Dave Meniketti(Menichetti)sings his heart out on every song.

From: curt Date: June 17, 2002 at 18:53
Agree with koogles again. Good but not as good as Down For The Count. Rock on!

From: koogles Date: June 26, 2002 at 18:31
Like this? Check out Vice 'Second Excess'.

From: EL COLEBROM Date: July 14, 2002 at 0:46
GREAT ALBUM-ES LO MEJOR AND BIGGGGGGG HAIRSSSSSSS.

From: Tony Date: July 29, 2002 at 21:22
Man I don't know. I really WANT to dig this album but just can't get into it. Probably the only Y&T disc I rarely listen too. The musicianship is incredible but the album is just LOADED with cliches lyrically (L.A. Rocks just makes you embarassed for them) and they try way too hard to be this sleazy party Hollywood Blvd. Crue type band here. 'The Kid Goes Crazy' is simply a Roth-era Van Halen song re-written. Love Y&T but pick up 'Ten' before you check this out, just my lame opinion.

From: SEBSFOX Date: September 5, 2002 at 13:32
There are two great songs on this one - 'Temptation' and 'Fight For Your Life'. But other than that, your better off picking up 'Ten' - A much better album.

From: Steve T Date: September 5, 2002 at 13:38
Listened to this again for the first time in years and loved it. Yeah there are one or two cringy cheesy moments but, hey, that was the climate then. Good album and great playing, as always, from the band. One stinker of an album (DFTC) in your career is pretty good going I say. Good melodic hard rock.....7.5/10 ....and ,yes, Ten is a better album but for sheer quality you can't beat the 1/2/3 of Earthshaker, Black Tiger and Mean Streak.

From: Metal Man Date: October 9, 2002 at 17:08
Y&T at their best. Picked up the cassette back in 1987 and it never left my car player for the whole summer. Lots of good memories from that tape!

From: Scandinavia Date: December 30, 2002 at 12:04
AWESOME MOTHERFUCKING ALBUM!!! In rock we trust sure is a classic but this...WOOOW! Superb production, great melodies, effectous hooklines...This album's got it all...Highlight: Title track! Can't be described in words...must be heard! I litterally started crying when I first heard it! The only album that's ever done that to me! One of my top 3 albums...BUY IT NOW!!! A lot better than 10...Sure it included Stef Burns but the songs lacked structure and melody...Get Contagious instead! ROCK'N'ROLL

From: rob Date: December 31, 2002 at 0:35
This band should have been so much bigger than they were. Excellent band and album.

From: mallard Date: February 1, 2003 at 13:39
oh yeah..if you don't have it,buy it...you can't buy it, steal it...

From: jayglam@hotmal Date: March 4, 2003 at 6:43
My favourite Y&T album just ahead of Down for the count. This album rocks, ten is too mellow but still great. I wish Y&T would have done more albums in this style. Best songs would be armed and dangerous, Contagious, LA Rocks, and fight for your Life. Jay from Australia.

Why this disc didn't put Y&T over the top and into the spotlight like your Crue/Dokken/Cinderellas is beyond me. This disc absolutely ROCKS. 'Contagious', 'Armed & Dangerous', 'Temptation', and 'Eyes of a Stranger' are AWESOME! 'Eyes of a Stranger' is an excellent tune to grind your lady too as well!!!

From: RR-Finland Date: September 15, 2003 at 3:20
This is maybe best release (or it is MeanStreak) from these guys! Awesome keyboards and backround vox! Has been one of my favourites over the years. Contagious, LA Rocks, Temptation, Bodily Harm etc.

From: cruise Date: September 15, 2003 at 16:29
A great album that is probably their most AOR release. Trying to be a bit more commercial than previous this was a slight departure. Brilliant, accessible hard rock with the band sounding very fresh. Superb songs and melodies. 9/10

From: Scandinavia Date: September 18, 2003 at 12:43
I get your point Cruise...Fabulous album but calling this one AOR is way off...This is a great mixture of typical 80s metal & hardrock....Please tell me where you hear the AOR parts?? Maybe you mean the polished production?? ROCK ' N ' ROLL!!!

From: King James Date: September 23, 2003 at 5:07
Y & T = heavy metal. Nuff' said!

From: Rocker76 Date: October 15, 2003 at 16:19
Totally agree with King James. Y&T are a killer band. Saw them at a club in Springfield, Virginia. Blew the lid off the place! Not bad for a band that used to headline with Van Halen & Motley Crue opening for THEM! Used to tour with Queen, AC/DC and Ozzy. Performed at Monsters of Rock (1984?). Been there and done that....they were so much better than the 80s then and still are. Truly good rock band through and through! 'Contagious' is one of their best.

From: Ghost Rider Date: November 1, 2003 at 4:43
Scandinavia, Hey this isnt aor oriented to you? You know the guy who porduced this Kevin Beamish did some great work in the melodic rock/aor circle and those influnces shine on this album big time. You want more aor proof? check the guy who mixed this album named Kevin Elson!! Yeah we all know his resume. So dont you Scandinavia, hear the guitars, backrground vocals, production, and all around aor commercialness of this record? Esp that these 2 guys were involed it was a masterpiece indeed

From: Scandinavia Date: November 1, 2003 at 8:52
Ghost Rider...Does the fact that they used Kevin Beamish make this an AOR album just because he did some AOR work with other artists??? Hmmm, listen to the music instead dude. Then all albums produced by Tommy Hansen will have to be labelled Speed Metal just because he did some speedmetal work?? Is every Bob Rock produced album similar to Metallica??? You're way off...It's all a matter of opinion but it ain't AOR. It's polished, yes, but Hardrock is as far as I'll stretch it...

From: Blaster Date: November 6, 2003 at 3:29
i hate this album, I'm definitely going to sell it now that i know what its worth!

From: Metal Pete Date: February 5, 2004 at 19:40
I love Y&T but this one kinda misfires for me. I like the title cut, 'Armed and Dangerous'..and that's about it. 'Temptation' and others are all right. But, I am holding them up to the standards of their fantastic prior releases. 'La Rocks' would have been better left to a lesser band like Poison.

From: K.K. Poland Date: February 15, 2004 at 7:43
I'LL CRY FOR YOU !!!!!!!!!! WHAT A SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MASTERPIECE !!!!!!!!

From: Impaler Date: February 22, 2004 at 0:38
Not quite a Y&T album. If you can get over the slick production and change in their sound this is a good album. It just did not have a track that stood out enough to compete with Poison, Dokken, Warrant, Winger, Stryper, Crue, etc.... Too bad because I really think they were a better band then those listed. Had to be frustrating to sell out to pussy metal and still not hit it big!

From: Impaler Date: February 22, 2004 at 0:40
The album just didn't live up to the title!

From: holyroller Date: February 29, 2004 at 11:37
Still surprised that 'Contagious' wasn't a big single in '87, it had everything going for it. Strange production on this one too. Jimmy DeGrasso is a fine drummer but Y&T misses something without the incredible right foot of Leonard Haze.

From: aTomiK Date: April 16, 2004 at 7:02
What amazing album this is!! Every song rocks big time! Perfect!

From: Edward Date: May 26, 2004 at 11:33
This is a perfect album! CONTAGIOUS, FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE are great. ARMED AND DANGEROUS isn't left behind. And TEMPTATION is one of the best in this album. Which such cool songs and still they didn't have the chance to be legends. But they already are for me!

From: Big Papa K Date: June 12, 2004 at 19:57
Y&T sure tried to go for Bon Jovi/Poison vibe on this album and it simply does not work. Armed and Dangerous, Fight For Your Life and Temptation are decent, but this album is nothing like their early 80's releases. The Kid Goes Crazy is a terrible Hot For Teacher ripoff. 4/10

From: Uusiolli Date: August 5, 2004 at 17:42
Sounds like they had to do this album. Songs are quite poor and production too poppy. Someone in their recordcompany probably thought that they coul break into the major league with softer sound. How wrong they were.

From: VICTOR - CRETE Date: August 6, 2004 at 8:50
Y&T IS A CLASSIC 80'S HARD ROCK BAND.GREAT TIMES IN ALL OF THEIR ALBUMS. THIS [DIRTY GIRL} IS SURELY [ARMED&DANGEROUS].MY FRIENDS TELLING ME DO NOT LOOK THE [EYES OF A STRANGER]. BUT THIS [TEMPTATION] WAS SO SWEET.I TOLD TO HER [I BELIEVE IN YOU-BELIEVE IN YOU BABY] AND SHE ANSWERED [FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE]. NOW I AM A [SENTIMENTAL FOOL],AND SOMETIMES [I 'LL CRY FOR YOU]BABY.

From: Geoff Date: August 31, 2004 at 9:38
I actually really like this CD. I know it was not traditional Y & T, but it suited me fine. 'Contagious' is great commercial hard rock, 'Temptation' is a killer, very atmospheric ballad, 'Fight For Your Life','Armed and Dangerous,'Bodily Harm'and 'Eyes of a Stranger' are all great slabs of commercial hard rock, and simply put - 'Ill cry for you' is my favourite instrumental ever. This was my first taste of Y & T and still my favourite. Good solid CD.

From: Scott... Date: November 13, 2004 at 4:46
this one and 10, there best albums ever..I can't believe no one has mentioned (in my opinion) the BEST song they ever did. RHYTHM OR NOT!!what is everyone else listening to. that song has everything in it and lots more. It's heavy, cool middle guitar parts, catchy singing, the middle guitar section is a masterpiece, you think the song is over while its builing during the guitar solo, then it starts over and then builds up some more. VERY Creative and POWERFUL.I love this era of Y&T's career.

From: Dave Date: November 13, 2004 at 17:18
Sorry Scotty, yes, these are good albums but 'Earthshaker' is still steets ahead of anything else they have done and actually streets ahead of most albums anyone has done. You class 'Earthshaker' with Rainbow Rising and UFO's Wild Willing And The Innocent. These albums are not just classics , they are the elite.

From: VinceK81 Date: September 6, 2005 at 15:57
Contagious will forever be in my Top Ten albums of all time. I know that they're most known for their classic early 80's sound, but when you pump out 'Contagious' and 'Ten' on a new lable with almost no recognition, that a CRIME! This album in particular is so f.cking strong from front to back that I can't choose my favorite! Very similar to Highway to Hell or Shout at the Devil in that sense. Meniketti RIPS IT UP on vox and guitar.....what a melodic STUD! HUH!

From: Leykis101 Date: November 14, 2005 at 6:34
You would have thought David Cole produced this by listening to it, production way polished, layered vocals, production.PRODUCTION not sound, is alot like the production on Blue Tears s\t, or Firehouse s\t which ive always found very similar, anybody know any other albums with that kind of layered production in the vocals?

From: Nelson Date: November 22, 2005 at 13:12
Dave Meniketti's guitar just SCREAMS in this release! If there is a Master Class for Hard Rock/Heavy Metal guitarists, he should be invited to teach. Along with Gary Moore, he's one of the very few guitarists who makes a statement w/ their solos and not just doing safe repeated patterns. Most axemen have strayed too far from the blues that they already forgot to 'SAY' something (aside from, hey I'm fast) with their solos.

From: aMetalhead1966 Date: January 24, 2006 at 16:55
Good release, not their best, but very solid thru and thru...8/10.

From: DIKTATER66 Date: February 26, 2006 at 0:41
What a great cd. Didn't get into them until the video in 90 or so. But picked this up and was very pleased. Great voice and guitar work here. Would recommend it.

From: Figge Date: March 25, 2006 at 18:39
Not my favourite Y&T album. Still I LOVE it! Sure, it's commercial and 'by the book' in order to sell and break the band. Now that didn't happen...and that's just as incredible as a huge shame. Songs like Contagious, Temptation, Armed & Dangerous, Bodily Harm are just awesome. How someone can rate DFTC higher than this is beyond me. Great stuff!

From: Heavy.AOR Date: July 10, 2006 at 6:59
BRILLIANT 10/10

From: Heavy.AOR Date: July 15, 2006 at 13:58
Im back.Who love Giuffria love Y and T simple and genial music mixed AOR and Melodic Hard Rock. NO LIKE A AC/DC or all commercial Hard Rock.

From: metalhead4life Date: August 22, 2006 at 19:39
Good hard rockin' CD!! Has more than a few good tunes on it and worth buying. L.A. Rocks sucks though. 8/10

From: Darkstorm Date: March 3, 2007 at 23:51
It's a shame this album didn't do better as it's loaded with great rockers like the title track Rhythm Or Not, Fight For Your Life and Eyes Of A Stranger, I am also quite fond of Temptation as it's differnet sounding from most other ballads in this era

From: Scandinavia Date: October 20, 2007 at 8:07
EXCELLENT!!! Saw them the other night and they played 'Contagious' - I tell you, the audience went absolutely FU*K*NG CRAZY!!

From: lemas156 Date: November 1, 2008 at 18:11
I've loved this cd from the first time I heard it in '87. This has some of their best writing, as far as I'm concerned. Dave's vocals are fantastic and the guitar work is crazy good. The only song I could do without is 'The Kid Goes Crazy'. That said, tracks like 'Armed & Dangerous', 'Temptation', 'Fight For Your Life' are absolute classics!

From: Remastered Reason Date: January 20, 2009 at 15:19
Saw the video for "Contagious" the other day which brings me to comment on this album. The band had gotten away from the heavier production of the early 80's. Namely "Earthshaker", which was by far their best sounding album, not to mention they wrote great rock songs to go with it. But, the party gloss muffle they chose here undermined all of these songs & sank the album into the tank of every cut-out bin in America. Very unfortunate choice for Y&T, though it seemed to have worked for many other bands at the time.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 19, 2011 at 21:55
More into the real "american way" came this album of Y&T...catchy hooks, great backing chorures with the typical "oh oh oh oh oohhhh" in it and of course, lovely radio friendly songs...tasty???...somehow,yes!!!..."Contagious" is a killer opener,"L.A.Rocks","The Kid Goes Crazy"(rocks great!),"Fight For Your Life"(catchy) & "Armed And Dangerous" are my faves...89/100

From: hair metal again Date: September 9, 2012 at 9:26
hard rock masterpiece and i believe that this is Y&Ts finest moment!87 was a fantastic year for hard rock music and Contagious is one of the best!all the songs are great commercial hard rock anthems and of course i must give credit to the monsterous sound of Kevin Beamish!100/100

From: 123charpenay Date: September 10, 2012 at 13:36
ok with many comments above.for me it s their best studio record.this cd is too short cause the songs are so good!!!!all choruses are real anthem.irresistible.they enter in your brain and never good out.unfortunately no bonus tracks on the japan import.

From: 123charpenay Date: September 10, 2012 at 13:37
"go out" sorry

From: bighooks Date: March 26, 2015 at 17:27
Another amazing album by Y&T. Fantastic!!!

From: Doug Date: March 27, 2015 at 14:54
My favorite "Y & T" album.

From: 123charpenay Date: April 29, 2016 at 16:46
i can add to be very honest that tracks 4 and 10 are some fillers.but the rest is top class american hard rock with exceptional choruses .you ll sing these super choruses under your shower.

From: Doug Date: April 29, 2016 at 18:23
For me, their best album.
