This is a must for any fan of AOR, Hard Rock and good music in general. Top production and great tracks. Highly recomendable.

From: Xabofar Date: April 14, 2003 at 13:54
One of the classic scandinavian albums of all time. Very good stuff

From: koogles Date: April 18, 2003 at 12:05
Almost as good as the debut, but more AOR. Check out "Somewhere in France"... total JOURNEY/HUGO style!! Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who likes the Hugo solo stuff will be BLOWN INTO NEXT WEEK by that song. "Hungry For a Game" is the best song about gambling since Saga's "Wind Him Up", even though the two sound nothing alike. Bottom line: a whole different side of Skagarack but every bit as entertaining and likeable as the revered debut.

From: Scandinavia Date: May 29, 2003 at 11:15
This was their breakthrough album...The title track gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Truly amazing! Produced by Tommy Hansen(Helloween, Maids, Victory, Steeler, Tyran pace) It has world-class production. In my opinion not one bad track! Some people may say it lacks balls but the compositions really sweep you away...20 on a scale to 10!

From: motley Date: June 3, 2003 at 19:19
Totally awesome piece of great hardrock/aor, catagorize it as you want....Unbelievable that they never made it bigger....

From: Bill Date: June 9, 2003 at 8:48
I have the single CD of "Hungry For A Game" containing an extra track called "Sweet Dreams", a fantastic instrumental song that can only be found on this single CD (or on the vinyl edition). Does anyone know about other single CD´s about this great AOR band? I heard "Somewhere In France" was released on a 3" mini CD in Japan?

From: Nanteau Date: August 9, 2003 at 17:39
This is my all time favourite! The best AOR-CD for ever! I like the most "Somewhere in France" as koogles does, but is it really like HUGO??? --I don't know HUGO, but this one M U S T be far better!!!

From: Great Dane Date: September 20, 2003 at 5:29
If you can find it, go and get Torben Schmidts solo cd. Its awesome. Just as good as any Skagarack release.

From: RR-Finland Date: September 25, 2003 at 5:42
Always In The Line and Hungry For A Game!! Maybe not best vocals I have heard, but still good.

From: TIM (2) Date: July 12, 2004 at 5:12
Now this is the stuff. Fabulous AOR: big production, tons of keys, great vocals, and absolute killer songs. A pretty light album, soundwise it's a little like FM's "Indiscreet"/Ya Ya, but for me it's just about their best. The truth is you really must buy all their 4 CD's, and Schmidt's killer (although slightly more hard-rocking) solo album. In Scandi AOR terms this album is in the top 3 of all-time. 10/10.

From: Harald Date: August 23, 2004 at 18:46
A killer AOR CD and the one that got me into the scene. I still play this on a regular basis and have done so for the past 10 years. Favorite track.... "Always In A Line" with it´s pompous out of hell keyboards intro before Torben Schmidt starts in true David Coverdale style and the chorus sets your speakers on fire, AWESOME!!! An alltime classic, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, rating 10/10!!!!!

From: Geoff Date: August 23, 2004 at 20:29
This was my first taste of Skagarack. The lyrics were always plain and simple to me, but there was a lot of that going around. The songs, however, are magnificent. 'Boys' is probably my fave, but 'Somewere in France' is a great melodic gem, as is 'Joanna' and the title track. Not a 10/10 for me, but still a very good melodic rock CD. Great stuff, and a good intro to the band.

From: Kip Date: September 10, 2004 at 5:47
Hungry For A Game is one of my all time favorite songs. Skagarack hit their mark there, and followed it up nicely on the rest of the album. Joanna is very catchy and Somewhere In France is pretty, however both songs are embarrasingly cliched. But the track that almost measures up to the opener, is the closer, Facing The Truth. Everything in between is pretty average stuff to me. Still, a decent follow up to their great 1st album - 6.5/10

From: melodiac Date: November 24, 2004 at 11:32
Is the original polydor existed for this? I've never seen original polydor press, I've just seen Elap press only. Please let me know the truth!!

From: TIM (2) Date: November 25, 2004 at 2:31
Hey Melodiac, The Elap version must be a re-issue. I have the original from the time on Polydor (with the big guitar on the front). If it was re-issued then I can think of no album in my collection that's more deserving...

From: Scandinavia Date: November 25, 2004 at 7:56
Without being 100 % sure I'm guessing that the "Elap version" is the one distributed in Scandinavia...

From: Scandinavia Date: December 17, 2004 at 5:04
Listening to this pearl again now...Been a long time since the last listen but this is without a doubt THE BEST SCANDI-AOR/HARD ROCK BAND of all times!!! Truly amazing and breathtaking...

From: swriter Date: December 24, 2004 at 15:08
man!!!! why does the U.S. have to wit so long to hear this band, hands down, one of the top ten of the decade, fantastic voclas, cool guitar and mesmorizing key lines, a must!!!

From: Scandinavia Date: December 25, 2004 at 7:32
Just picked up my 3rd copy of this gem...Hehe - It's almost on sale everywhere here in Denmark...And cheap as hell!

From: Kim HP Date: December 26, 2004 at 15:26
Not fully as good as the debut, but still an excellent melodic hard rock/aor album. "Hungry for a game" is worth the cd alone... totally outstanding track!

From: ashen_light Date: December 31, 2004 at 10:03
Great follow up after the debut. The "opener" itself is worth spending money, however I think that vocals is the weakpoint of this album-there is no power in the voice. This album could be much better with Per Henriksen or Jeff Soto on vocals. 7.5

From: Swriter Date: February 12, 2005 at 23:42
thanks to this site, I found out about this one and have been listening all week, this is a fantastic album, a bit of Journey but for the most part, all original stuff, this album just goes by and time to listen again, I would call this one an extremely catchy melodic rock --aor. A Must have!!!! did the vocalist do any recordings lately??? thanks

From: z4roxx Date: February 12, 2005 at 23:51
Hey Swriter,Skagarack is a top scandi band indeed, maybe their"a slice of heaven"is a little better also than this one,but both are awesome piece of history in this genre.Yes,T.Schmidt has a solo album called"a bit on the side",it should was the forth Skagarack release but the band were problem about label I think.if you like these guys I can recommend you Parber&Kerstein band,cd called"stories from the heart, you can find Slagarack bass player and the style is close to them anyway. It's a must,IMO

From: Swriter Date: February 13, 2005 at 0:10

Skagarack and Great King Rat will rule the Scandi melodic rock world forever.

From: Muddley Date: February 13, 2005 at 16:43
Erik your right here. both bands are superb. The singer from Skagarack mede a superb cd called A Bit on A Side. Its fckin good. great King Rat are top class Scandirock.

From: Erik Date: February 14, 2005 at 4:57
Yeah i have the solo cd of Torben also. And your sooooo rigt Muddley. That cd rocks big time ! Songs like Good day to be living, I gave my soul, It aint the first, Turn on my badland, Cant you feel it and Same old song same old story are all classics. F**king brillant. Man do i miss this type of music.

From: Wotty Date: February 14, 2005 at 14:18
Superb piece of 80's A.O.R.It has not dated in my opinion and still sounds excellent...

From: Erik Date: February 16, 2005 at 2:52
Amen to that Wotty !

From: iacob cristian Date: February 20, 2005 at 15:27
Very good band ! A classic AOR band which i recommend to all aor fans.Skagarack rocks !

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: June 29, 2005 at 22:07
Another good work, claro que si otro buen album, en cortes me quedo con los 3 que menciono Champions, aca estoy con mi amigo Mario otro Gran catador de AOR y Rock Melodico, para nosotros mejor que Da Vinci no es aparte que Da Vinci tiene mejor cantante y cortes mas compactos, sobre Talk Of The Town quiza pero en cantante Skagarack pierde buenos son nuestras opiniones espero no se molesten por eso, saludos Jose.

Again I have to state this one as something you can't praise enough.. as a melodic rock CD It's such fantastic This time I will go the other side round and tell you the weeker songs. I never liked "Boys" & "Outrageous" that much. "Facing...", "She's a liar" are medicre (means by this band 8/10). The rest is AWESOME. Listen to the brilliance, athmospheric "Somewhere in France" or to rockers as "Hungry for a game", "Joanna" or "Take me home..." I such love the singers voice too

Yep - another fantastic release in the long list of Scandie classix ,not one slightly negative comment on this page either, which I think must be the first time I've seen that on any album on HH. No negatives sums this one up really, so no more to add. Scandie heaven to the max.

From: Mediaab Date: January 3, 2006 at 9:06
This second cd by Skagarack was better song-wise than the debut, more memorable hooks and a fantastic Tommy Hansen production. Some of the songs, I must agree, are almost too sugar-sweet (lacks in the power department), but still a great album by a great band. Not as good as Europe or Stage Dolls (the two best Scandi acts ever imo), but a good effort nevertheless.

From: SCANDI Date: January 10, 2006 at 11:47
Guess that's the most complete album I've ever known of. It starts with a quite good (if not sensational) artwork, goes on with brilliant songs as "Hungry for a game" (The power, the keys, the 'coolness'), "Joanna", "Take me home tonight" (both perfect AOR songs) or the wonderful "Somewhere in france" (WHAT haunting keyline at the end) and ends with a similar as good production. I just give 9,6/10 'cos I think I would end up living if I ever gave a perfect 10 for an album

From: juan carlos Date: March 29, 2006 at 23:26
Vaya disquito! Temas super-pegajosos, teclados mágicos y sobre todo buenos solos, sino escucha "she´s a liar" o "always in line" killers! 9/10

From: Remastered Reason Date: May 3, 2006 at 1:55
Talk about cool music. This is spot on. Songs that keep you playing them over & over. "Joanna" & "Hungry for a Game" are top notch, class act tunes. Pick this up, anytime.

From: lalorock Date: May 30, 2006 at 13:30

From: metalhead4life Date: December 26, 2006 at 13:55
Now this is a good album; good songs on here. Hungry For A Game is a monster of a track and worth the price alone(has the Bon Jovi "Prayer" and Def Leppard "Bringin on the Heartbreak" type chorus and "wo oh's". Tracks 2,3,4,8,9 are also very good. The rest are just ok. Definitely recommended. I would compare this to 80's glam rock and AOR like Bon Jovi and Journey but not quite as good. In my opinion Europe is also better than this band song wise and musicianship wise. This is good though.8/10

From: Clayton77 Date: January 6, 2007 at 15:26
This is definetely the best Scandinavia-release in the AOR-Melodic-genre of 1988!!! Not Europe...SKAGARACK is the HIT!!!

From: Pudelrockarn Date: March 4, 2007 at 10:48
A classic! This is my favourite of their first three albums. Get it if you can.. 10 out of 10.

From: Magnus Date: March 31, 2007 at 21:09
This will be easy.Just go and get it! :-) Fantastic Scandi AOR and IMO their best work!!

From: AORster Date: July 8, 2007 at 15:04
The best AOR album to come out of Scandinavia? Imo absolutely. Europe, Treat etc had their moments but there are not one "filler" on this record. The CD bonus track, Facing The Truth, is amazing! Why wasn't it on the original release? Buy or die!

From: Mustaine_TW Date: November 16, 2007 at 2:57
This one has been re-issued by AOR Heaven with 1 bonus track!

From: shark attack Date: February 17, 2008 at 10:10
Cheap and cheesy AOR/Hard Rock with the standard polite happy chappy sing a long choruses essential to the genre plus some of the cheapest casio keyboard sounds committed to disc this side of fellow scandie wimp merchants DALTON. Completely harmless and just a little dull for these ears but the perfect background muzik for the weekly supermarket shopping visit or ride in the office lift. 63/100

From: newscandi Date: March 22, 2008 at 13:22
DON'T SHOP N HEAR shark attack ..Now for something different: Why do they re-re-release it???? ????

From: Zoner Date: June 14, 2008 at 15:31
Their best effort. Title track, Joanna and Somewhere in France are the highlights on the disc. Get it now!

I liked this one more than their debut as i rated it just only 86/100 and others were giving more than 90/100..anyway a matter of tastes,i guess but talking about this one a good opener "Hungry For A Game" (the title says it all dudes!)then one of the tracks i liked the most "Somewhere In France" along with "Boys","Outrageous"(great chorus!),"Take Me Home Tonight" and "Always In A Line".A round album indeed and surely you'll be hook up!..."Joanna"..somehow i found it dull..as i said,a matter of tastes..88/100

my vocabulary in english is a little limited (i stop school when i was 17)but what can i say?fantastic ,marvellous, extraordinary ect ect.ok you have understand this cd is amasterpiece , a dream for scandi aor lovers.of course only absolutes killer songs.10/10 for alls."this world" track 7 is the top of the top of the top.the first time my wife listen this song she says "why this hit never play on radio?" i answer "cause good music have not her place on frenches radios".i recommand the reissue of 2007 remastered by torben schmidt himself with one beautiful instumental bonus track "sweet dreams".

From: hair metal again Date: January 31, 2014 at 0:46
excellent release by SKAGARACK back in 88 and for me this is one of the best out of the European hard rock scene ever!everything seems perfect from the production, the musicianship, the songwriting till the whole vibe!cant find something missing and Hungry For A Game becomes essential!the problem was that with the hair metal explosion on the other side of the world SKAGARACK had no chance of making it big!

From: 123charpenay Date: September 10, 2015 at 13:13
i confirm my comment of 2012 ,two years after their awesome debut album skagarack realise a real exploit.they offer us a fantastic second effort at the same level than the first.always the same recipe :an incredible and sensational scandi a o r.
