LOL... no comments on this one yet? How odd. Well, my thoughts are that this is a good solid melodic hard rock disc. They showed here that they were a good band, even before Desmond came along. 'Shot through the heart' is still one of my fave BJ tracks, 'She don't know me' is great pop rock, 'Roulette' is another all-time fave - killer hard rocker, and 'Runaway' is pretty cool. But this is very consistent, very good melodic rock.

Still to this day the best and most consistent BJ disc - only 'Slippery ' gets near it for me. Love all the tracks on this, especially 'Breakout' with it's great keys (by Aldo Nova I believe)'Runaway', 'She Don't Know Me' 'Shot Through The Heart' - the list goes on. A great great debut album.

Don't think so pal - Check the album sleeve - 'Runaway' was recorded by the 'All Star Review' in 1982 featuring to quote the album sleeve:- Tim Pierce -Guitar, Roy Bittan - Keyboards, Frankie La Rocka -Drums, Huey McDonald - Bass. Aldo Nova also helped out with some of the album sessions,a favour in which BJ repayed Aldo on the 'Blood On The Bricks' album. Also you will notice Doug Katsaros & Chuck Burgi (Both from the excellent Balance) helped out aswell.

I belive all the comments on the BJ albumes have recently been deleted for some reason, anyway I really like this cd, acturly I think it was the first really really good Melodic rock cd that came out, the first 4 songs are absolute top class, then it gets a little slow love lies, but then breakout comes along and the rest of the albume is realy something, worth checking out for all rock fans!

This is a great CD, I rank right behind 7800F. I remember the local radio station playing Runaway and Breakout and I was hooked. I also like every other song except Come Back and Get Ready. Excellent CD!

Through the Heart, Burning for Love...

Refering to the best of 'Crossroad' I never really completely listened to I became attentive of this one due to the song 'Runaway'. It's such great, stylewise comparable to HIROSHIMA or even a bit RAW SILK. I like that cool keyboard driven sound of these bands resp. this song!!

I can't believe this isnt more of a classic. This album takes more shots in on line reviews than Kobe takes in an entire season. Theres quite a few outstanding tracks showing BJ coming into his own lyrically and musically, although not vocally. Runaway is a perfect AOR style opener resembling Toto at their best. She Dont Know Me and Burning For Love are both well above average tracks, Shot thru The Heart is just outstanding but the best track here is Love Lies! What a song! Awesome Debut. 8.4/10

This is my favorite bon jovi simply because? no hit's, and theirs no trace of slippery when wet, it's darker, gloomy, and I liked the feel of the whole album, they were all going thru bad times and it reflects on the album.

It is my personal favorite. Love Lies is they're best ballad in my opinion. Roulette, She Dont know me and Runaway should make all of your essential melodic rock compilation cd's. If you appreciate what the core of this site is all about, I am surprised this cd isnt in your top 10. I dont care if it carries the Bon Jovi name, I think of it as a great rock album. I hear the band like Def Leppard dont like they're earlier material when I feel its they're strongest and easiest to listen to.

BANG!!! Right out of the chamber this band was red hot and this debut is on fire! This stuff is 'Burning For Love' and it's got mine. Another stellar piece of AOR without a piece of filler in sight. Sure some tracks are better than others, but just try to find a bad one. 'She Don't Know Me', 'Love Lies', and 'Get Ready' are just a few of the gems that never got airplay and they are some of the best on the disc. Need I really say more besides buy it?

I'll finally have to get around to commenting on the Bon Jovi releases. This whole CD kicks ass! Least favorite is track 3 (She don't know me) but its not that bad. Other than that, all songs are great. This one, Slippery When Wet, and New Jersey are the bands best and 3 of the genres best - arguably of all time. 9/10. As far as 80's rock bands go, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard shared the airwaves as kings.

The first album for that fraud Jon Bon Jovi. He sucks major ass. Saying that this album and 7800 Degrees Fahenheit are at least true albums. Everything after these was copied from better bands like Def Leppard. Jon wasn't even that famous until he decided to copy Pyromania.

Runaway, a fantastic song but we need to give credit where it is rightfully due. Tim Pierce=Guitars Keyboards=Roy Bittan Drums=Frankie La Rocka Bass=Huey McDonald. This is a must have for all melodic rock fans.

Of all the Bon Jovi albums I own, and I have everything up through Keep The Faith, the first two are the ones I listen to, more than the others combined. It's not really saying much, since I don't really listen to Bon Jovi that much in general anymore, but the first two albums are a treasure trove of overlooked gems. The debut shows the band in their infancy, more raw than they would become, but still with hooks galore. Jon sings in a more nasal voice than he would later, and his falsetto is pretty ridiculous, but the overall sense of melody and catchiness is undeniable. Favorites would be the non-singles "Roulette," "Shot Through The Heart," "Burning For Love," and "Coe Back," as well as possibly the hardest song here, "Get Ready."

This is their best work, consistent from start to finish, a great album in 1984 and a great album too in 2012, plenty of good songs and performing from a rising star, a shame that they never returned to this sound.
