| Hold your horses, ThunderDan and Toni. Slow down. Sure, Survivor are a great band, but let's take a closer look at 'Too Hot to Sleep', okay? When it's good, it's REALLY good ('Desperate Dreams', 'She's a Star', 'Didn't Know It Was Love', title track & 'Tell Me I'm the One'). BUT, when it's bad, it's horrible. 'Here Comes Desire' is a 6 minute sleeping pill. 'Rhythm of the City' and 'Burning Bridges' are dirge-like at 5 minutes a piece. The highs are high, the lows are low. Navigate accordingly!!

| Koogles, the good songs you mentioned are the ones I like too. I don't mind 'Rhythm..', I think it's a cool tune, the other 2 you mentioned aren't the CD's brightest spots. My navigation took a different turn, you could say.

| Koogles, I actually really dislike Tell Me I'm The One! Burning Bricges and Rhythm Of The City stand up fairly well. Here Comes Desire and Can't Give It Up are, for me, the stinkers. Overall it's a great hard rock album though and She's A Star and Too Hot To Sleep are SERIOUS hard rocking fare. Across The Miles is an amazing ballad too.

| this is surviors hardst sounding cd. as like the rest of them this is great.best singer in the world and frankie sullivan and jim peterick are the 2 songwriters of all time.great band live.

| Typical Survivor from Jimi Jamison era.All songs on this one have this eletric guitar approach,bit different from ancient Survivor`s records,that had a respectable number of acoustic tunes!Pretty much rock`n roll this one.Great guitar grooves.Also some larger-than-life,keyboards oriented,big choruses songs!Also to be mencioned is the technical,dry,solid drums of the session drummer Mickey Curry,who also played with The Cult and Brian Adams !Plus one beautiful cover!80 out of 10!

| You Can't beat the intro to 'She's a Star' and the rhythm and solos in that song just kick maximum ass. That's my favorite song on the album hands down. The other songs didn't do it for me that much.Rock n roll people!!

| URIAH HEEP remade 'Across the Miles' a few years back. It's pretty close to the original. TOO HOT TO SLEEP is a solid album. Jimi Jamison-era Survivor could do no wrong.

| Still one of the personal favourites in my collection. The overall quality is not quite as high as 'Vital Signs' or 'When Seconds Count' due to the mid-album dip (tracks 5 and 6) but I love most of the rest of this. 'Didn't Know it Was Love' is the standout track for me, even though 'Desperate Dreams' was used on the Best of... This is one of the first CD's I ever bought, and is the perfect summer album. Which, in the UK, means I only get about 3 days a year on which I can play it. 8.5/10

| TIM (2), this one is indeed not as good as 'Vital Signs' or 'When Seconds Count' and it is also a lot heavier, I think ! It's a good record, by any means and their hardest rocking one ! Do we agree on that ?

| Agree AORFreaky, it's more like melodic hard-rock than the AOR from previously. But the songwriting quality is still almost the same. Possibly at the time if I'd heard 'Vital Signs' and 'Seconds Count' before this I may have been a touch disappointed, but as this was the first Survivor I ever heard it still sounds almost as good as the others.

| I love 'Didn't know it was love' and definately prefer the beefier delivery of this album to previous releases by Survivor. Still not sold on every single song, but this is a good melodic rock release and very solid stuff. Not a classic in my mind, but a good album regardless. Good comercial hard rock, one might say.

| I think this one sometimes gets a little overrated by the die hard fans. This one is heavier than the last few releases, but there are more weak points in here then the other Jamison era albums. 'Desperate Dreams' is one of my top two or three Survivor songs and 'Didn't Know It Was Love' is also great. 7/10

| The weakest track is here comes desire.The remainder are good to excellent songs.Burning bridges,rhythm of the city,did'nt know it was love,too hot to sleep,desperate dreams & she's a star are great songs.This is SURVIVOR's heaviest album and their best.Next to this cd is when seconds count.

| The heaviest album of the band to date... Very good melodies and strong guitars along with fantastic vocals. This is not Survivor's best album but sure is a very good melodic rock album. Let's hope that Survivor will release a new album soon!!!

| Once again these guys deliver in standard classy fashion. 'Desperate Dreams,' 'Too Hot to Sleep,' and 'Burning Bridges' were my highlights, with the only filler tune being 'Across The Miles' (that one fell kind of flat for me.) But like Foreigner or Journey, these guys were always consistent with their music, and never fail to satisfy. Can't go wrong with this one.

| Pretty much agree with everything that has been said about this one, but must admit that it is still one of fav albums and has stood the test of time. Was interesting to read Jim Peterik's comments about 'Across the Miles' in the notes on the 'Pride of Lions' cd booklet. 'Too Hot to Sleep' and 'Desperate Dreams' are my top tunes here. Quality hard melodic rock from a quality band.

| this is my fav Jimi Survivor disk, much harder then the prvious two with Jimi. Desperate Dreams, Too Hot to sleep, and my two favs Didn't know it was love and the fantastic aor/rock tune Rhythm of the City. This is a strong one and along with Eye of the Tiger, my 2 fav Survivor disks, although they r all great!!!

| Totally agree with koogles' comments on what songs are good and what's bad. Also like to add that 'Across the Miles' was good too. The production is great, making this album sound borderline Hard Rock at times. Album is worth getting for the good songs, because they are really great.

As said before; Not bad but doesn't live up to VS & WSC. But and it's a big one! It has imho maybe the best AOR song ever, Didn't know it was love, on it.... just jumping up and down whenever I hear it.  8,5/10

| This is a fantastic album. I agree that some of the tracks may be a little over long but in essence it's pur AOR heaven and it remains better than a lot of the dross that is palmed onto us as AOR or melodic rock. The vocals are excellent, the playing is superb (as you would expect) and the production is crisp and clear. Well worth anyone's cash. 97/100.

| Can anyone explain why my CD says "Didn't Know It Was Love" on the cover instead of "Too Hot To Sleep"? It's an original Scotti Bros/CBS pressing dated 1988, regular 10-track "Too Hot To Sleep" tracklist, numbered Intercord INT 847.330. Everything is as it should be, including the artwork and lyrics, but the cover says a different album name underneath the logo. Any ideas what this might be??? Any input is appreciated.

| It's not as strong as the previous two albums but certainly good, and different. 'She's a Star', 'Desperate Dreams', 'Didn't Know It Was Love', 'Tell Me I'm the One' are the highlights.

| a clear masterpiece for SURVIVOR with a perfect balanced commercial hard rock sound as most of the releases at the time !Frank Filipetti did an excellent job as he managed to bring less but better quality Jim Peterik and more on the front Frankie s exceptional guitar skills!wow what an album

| This one is a hit and miss-album, with some forgettable songs, but also some great tracks (the heavy melodics of She's a star, Too hot to sleep and Burning bridges, the trademark aor songs Desperate dreams and Didn't know it was love, and the beautiful ballad Across the miles). Jimi jamison is in great shape throughout the whole album.

| My favorite songs on this album (in no particular order) are: Too Hot To Sleep, Burning Bridges, Desperate Dreams, Can't Give It Up, Didn't Know It Was Love, She's A Star and Across The Miles. All are done very well in my opinion.

| It's a shame that Scotti Bros. and CBS (their distributors) were at war with each other. Because of that, albums sales of every group signed by Scotti Bros. lost out on sales, and unfortunately that included Survivor. This album, if properly pushed, could have and should have been a huge hit. They could have had several hits on this album and sold millions. IMO, this is one of, if not THE best album they ever made.

| Totally agree with you survivor4ever. It is also my favourite Survivor album. They embraced a commercial hard rock sound for this beasty and it was outstanding. To anyone who avoided it cause it was Survivor and you thought they were a bit too AOR i recommend you pick up the Rock Candy remaster and if you are a fan of that mid-80s hard rock you will really enjoy this album. Grade A.
