Great release by this band that was part of the more melodic NWOBHM movement. Nice to listen to all this demo tracks. Great stuff. |

Not a bad album once you get to the Snake songs. 1-4 is with some gravel voiced singer that couldn't hold Snake's jock. Production is weak but the tunes are pretty solid. If you want to experience Tobruk, start with Wild on the Run and then their Pleasure and Pain. If you like 80's rock sometimes heavy on the synth. Tobruk is your band. Thin of a heavier and better Europe. |

These are demo songs or unreleased tracks by Tobruk..as you can notice they were more into a kind of raw Hard Rock with a vintage sound ala nwobhm but not being metal at all...got the point?...anyway, including Snake's voice sounded very plain at times and obviously he got better through the years of Tobruk's short but "wild" career!!!..."Rock My Way To You","In Paradise" and "Children" the 3 of them rock!,"Looking At Love" is a highlight,"Wild On The Run" is a slow version that really doesn't have the effect of the "fast and catchy" one they put on the record,"Motel Love" is a pretty cool track and "Rage Of Angels" is another goodie one...for curiosity or fans of the band (like myself) this is a must but for persons who are getting to know the band,is better to buy their "Wild On The Run" and "Pleasure & Pain" anthems..by the way, shamely, the vocalist Snake died years ago ...the album?.85/100 |
