The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Santa Cruz CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from Santa Cruz are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

When Anthems came out, I enjoyed it, but beyond Aimin High, I never quite got addicted to that album. Yeah it was great, but it never clicked 100% with me. Then came the self titled album. I initially ignored it, as the first two singles did not blow me away. Finally though I bought it a few months late and was instantly hooked and blown away to the point it was my album of the year. Even the two singles I initially blew off, clicked with me. So now onto this new one. The obvious thing to say is that it is not as good as the last album, but at the same time it is fucking awesome. There are a couple of songs that dont quite hit the spot with me, but a lot of the songs on here are awesome. Opening track, Young blood rising sounds like it picks up exactly where the last one left off. There is more mellow stuff on this one though. One special note I have to say though is I absolutely love the No Doubt cover on the Japanese version.

I know, I know--I've been pretty hard on these Scandinavian bands trying to relive the Sunset Strip glory(hole?) days. I guess maybe, the older I get and the heavier my tastes get, I just need to be in the right mood for this type of music. So this weekend, I must be in the right mood, because i'm quite enjoying Bad Blood Rising. As always with a band like this, there's some focal/lyrical silliness to get past. But man, these riffs are so good, and heavy! I always describe a band like Santa Cruz or Crazy Lixx as "Sebastian Bach singing Def Leppard songs with a funny accent," but I'm glad to report that these guys lean more to the Skid Row side of things, kinda midway between the debut and Slave To The Grind. They're best when they play at full volume; the ballads are a little boring except for "Get Me Out Of California." To me, Santa Cruz picked up where their countrymen Reckless Love left off when they started getting really stoopid after their first two albums. I dig it!
