If you notice that a particular Black Stone Cherry CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. I've been up and down with this band throughout their career - underwhelmled by their first few albums, and then really loving Magic Mountain and Family Tree. So when BSC announced they were moving away from the more rock 'n' roll feel of those two favorites, and back to what they consider to be heavier territory, I was not encouraged. Upon first listen, though, this is still fairly inline with the most recent few releases in terms of the overall feel. Maybe put it alongside the Kentucky album from 2016. My initial impression, however, is that the songs themselves are just kinda boring, with a lot of similar-sounding, singsong melodies that cause the songs to run together. This band has always had a lot of potential, but so often, they end up just sounding so bland and average. I do like "Ride," "DOn't Bring Me Down," "Keep On Keepin' On" and maybe a couple other songs, but aside from that, nothing stood out for me.

I kinda agree with "Doghouse" above, but I would say I like this better than him. I think it's worth a spin. I rated it an "84."

Oops, meant to say an "86."
