An great release, very simlar to skid row. Wish I could get my hands on there last release - Irrelevent

From: wadelink Date: October 22, 2001 at 17:00

From: Shoemaker Date: January 8, 2002 at 3:58
Doinī the nasty! Hahahah!!! Very boring album, but I like this weak artwork ..

From: David Date: April 10, 2002 at 6:06
Does anyone know what these guys are doin' with themselfs these days because I think this album is nearly up to par with Skid Row's first 2 releases!

From: Desslar Date: April 10, 2002 at 11:35
Relatively mediocre hard rock on the heavy side. The slow songs are the best.

From: Tony Date: April 23, 2002 at 10:17
You know what it is with this cd?? If you took a small element from all your favorite bands and mixed it up you'd think you had a killer combo right?? WRONG!!! These guys just sound like a little bit of EVERYBODY and it sounds like it only averages out to=average!!! You won't hate this but you won't love this and that's the problem. Get the e.p. as it's a ton better.

From: TIM Date: May 31, 2002 at 22:18
I agree with Desslar and Tony. Big Fuckin' Deal was about the only song that interested me. You can only play one song so many times.

From: Andre Tekken Date: July 23, 2002 at 13:33
Nice album!A bit too Skid Row meets Guns meets L.A.Guns sometimes. The musicians at least show some musicianship.Good drums and guitar work. But the spotlights are all on Walsh, whoose vocal range is incredible!Best songs in my opinion:Helluvatime,Midnight Grind,By the fireside.6.5/10.There could be a little more creativity on this one.Nicholas is the one who saves the band.

From: Andre Tekken Date: July 27, 2002 at 8:29
Pleeeese, again and again this webmaster make mistake on ratting the bands in it's proper cathegory! What the hell is this dude listening!Thisss issss a hard rock band!Or maybe he also thinks Cristina Aguilera is Thrash Metal huh!!!!

From: TIM Date: July 27, 2002 at 11:18
Andre, 28 people rated this band- not just one. Personally, I thought "Big Fuckin' Deal" was the only good tune they had and I owned both cd's before I sold them. Your entitled to like what you want, but no two people hear a song the same way. I like some of the same groups you do but disagree in this case. Keep rockin' man.

From: TIM Date: July 27, 2002 at 11:20
I thought 8.64 was generous myself.

From: TIM Date: July 27, 2002 at 11:24
By the way, I submit cd's to this site. Bands I rate high sometimes come back with lower ratings. Sometimes they are higher. It depends on how many people Dan can find that know of the band. He may look on some site to find ratings- I really don't know. Anyways, unless you just see two opinions- several people voted. If it's just 1 it's the one who submitted it. If it's two, It's Dan and the one who submitted it most likely. Hope this helps.

Actually, I do nothing with ratings on entries that people submit. The number you see on this page is an ongoing average of the ratings from people who visit the site. Just because a CD may start out with a "10" rating from the submittor doesn't mean it will stay that way...

From: TIM Date: July 28, 2002 at 11:36
Sorry. I thought you added your own rating too.

From: Andre Tekken Date: July 31, 2002 at 9:11
Sorry mates, but I still think this band is misplaced in this category.I'm holding on to my opinion because,I'm also an entusiast of heavier music, and people I can ensure you THIS IS NOT a melodic metal band!Anyway thanks Tim for the time you spent answering me!Cheers

Maybe DAN got little confused with the "rachel's dead" strong heavy metal influences and put this album into melodic metal category.Anyway, thats not the basic point. The first word that comes on your mind when you listen this album is sleaze glam!Thats right.Songs like Big Fuckin' Deal,Helluvatime,White Lies/Black Truth,Cherry Bomb,Blood Money are excellent pieces of the sleaze/glam genre. So if you are a fan of that style of music you cant go wrong with this album.

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 17, 2003 at 10:40
Turn up your stereo's volume and let your speakers blow!10+ on ArxontaS scale...Absolutely No Alternative...

From: TIM Date: January 17, 2003 at 16:21
I don't think Dan submitted it ARXONTAS. Anyone can add a new cd to the site. I've added many myself. Not trying to brag. Just go to the "Add CDs" on the left column and put in anything appropriate.

From: Danny Date: March 13, 2003 at 20:24
I am not sure why this CD is listed as being METAL. This is not a metal CD. I purchased this CD back in 1992 when it first came out and I found that it sounded completely like glam rock. It sounds so much like Skid Row's first disc, that it is not even fuckin funny. I am a huge fan of heavy metal music, but this CD is really not heavy metal. It is a very standard glam rock CD. If you like heavier music you should take a pass on this one. Thanks for listening people.

Hi all, Check out Nick Walsh's new band...AWESOME! http://www.revolvertv.com/frameset.html

Flojisimo Hard Rock ,una copia de Skid Row ,pero ne llegan a estos ni a la suela de los zapatos

GREAT ROCK AND ROLL BAND too bad they got a bum rap

From: Big Papa K Date: June 15, 2004 at 3:42
Pretty boring by the book hard rock. Came at the end of the hair band era and you can see why it ended when bands like this were being signed. Not the worst album to listen to, just nothing that has not been done and done better a hundred times before. 3/10

From: Geoff Date: September 14, 2004 at 3:11
This is a good hard rock CD. I've always liked it - how can you not with a killer hard rock opener like 'Big fuckin' deal'. 'Crashed' is an awesome hard rocker too, and 'By the fire side' is actually a pretty damn good ballad. It's not the best album ever, but if you like good solid hard rock I dare say you'd enjoy this one. Good stuff.

From: MissHell Date: November 15, 2004 at 11:43
Well Nick is definately back with a vengence!!! His new band "Revolver" is due to release a full length album in February 2005. You can order an advanced copy from thier website at www.revolvertv.com. Have a listen....same melodic sound as Slik but much heavier, raw and edgy. A definite favorite on my playlist.

From: Krash Addict Date: December 7, 2004 at 15:33
Great band...if ya like Skid Row...then you'd like...Slik Toxik had that similar streetwise image and music style as well. Yes, Nick is in the the band REVOLVER along with members of Crash Kelly. Great band I'll admit.

From: Andii Vamp Date: December 18, 2004 at 1:41
Bloody great album. Irrelevant was good also but a little too heavy in parts for my tastes, however i really dug this CD! It kind of reminds me of SKid Row and SouthGang locked in a shed for a week pissed up on plenty of booze... and that aint a bad thing in my book

From: Chad Date: December 19, 2004 at 0:41
Andii- Don't drag Southgang down to this level. While I don't mind this album, the only standout tracks are: Big F'n deal and Helluvatime. The rest is filler. Southgang on the other had put out two quality albums that any fan of hard rock and metal needs to find. Canada has a few bands it can be proud of: April Wine,Helix,Headpins and Triumph to name a few. Would I buty this album? Hell yes! Two songs worth the price for this one. Though, Southgang caliber it is not...

From: David Date: December 19, 2004 at 1:32
What a stupid thing to say Chad!!!

From: Andii Vamp Date: December 21, 2004 at 3:35
Chad, i wasn't trying to drag SouthGang down to any level at all mate. I loved that band also, and can only honestly say what i felt whilst listening to this album. And that is exactly how i felt. TO each their own i guess, but this album is a good 'un in my opinion.

From: Andii Vamp Date: December 21, 2004 at 3:38
Oh one more thing... it IS like a cross between SOuthGang and Skid Row Chad. I don;t care what you say lol! That isn;t a bad thing either. Both bands were amazing.

From: Andii Vamp Date: December 21, 2004 at 3:39
Scuse my typing also... too much beer:P

From: Chad Date: December 22, 2004 at 20:26
No problem Andii! I do like this album but feel that Southgang is a better band. I would agree with the Skid Row comparison, in music only. Nicholas has a killer voice it is just I don't think the songs are that great. Given a few more albums I feel that they might have grown to something, but Grunge hit and we will never know.....

From: Andii Vamp Date: December 24, 2004 at 0:42
I do agree with you there Chad.. i too think SouthGang were a better band, but i honestly do love this CD.

From: Rocker76 Date: January 7, 2005 at 6:40
Not a bad album but it didn't blow me away either. "Sweet Asylum" and "The Midnight Grind" were cool tunes, with the remaining songs being fairly consistent. Their style reminded me of Skid Row's early 90s stuff. By no means essential but worth it if you find a cheap used copy in good shape.

From: mattboy71 Date: January 19, 2005 at 11:13
Hi all, Nick's new band Revolver is awesome. Slik Toxik fans will enjoy. It's a little different but worth it! www.revolvertv.com

From: metalmastermusic Date: July 28, 2008 at 15:48
Excellent glam metal album....this has some great songs on it and has some rowdy guitar work. The vocals can grind after a while but hey its metal music. This is the album of theirs to have and the album after ...well...it really is Irrelavant. Buy this one and you will not be disappointed if you like glam/hard rock. I was shocked to see such a poor rating from the users here but hey everyone has their opinion. My fave tracks 2,5,7,13. 86/100

From: rockhardrock Date: May 12, 2009 at 17:26
when i heard the first 4 tracks on this album i thought wau this is awsome album. but the songs that followed disapointed me. i just couldn't get into these tracks. i think some songs should not have been put here (like tracks 6,7,10 for example) what i like here are the vocals-Nicholas sure is a great singer. my favs: Big Fuckin' Deal, Helluvatime, Sweet Asylum, White Lies/Black Truth and By the Fireside

From: shoemaker Date: May 13, 2009 at 2:38
I like some SKID ROW tracks, but this album isnīt near them, it just sucks!

From: rallen399 Date: December 28, 2009 at 11:12
This album is fan-fucking-tastic I just got it because of all the negative feedback.I don't know what you nay sayers where listening to.From start to finish it rocks hard, every bit as good as Skid Rows first 2.The 4 tracks mentioned above kickass but so do Crashed,Cherry Bomb,Marionette,Midnite Grind and Its Not Easy is pretty good too.Their ep has great songs on it as well Rachels Breathing is awesome rocker. The guitarists are excellent and the singer is every bit as good as Sebation Bach they should have been huge.

From: MetaLWhore Date: January 26, 2014 at 22:55
Nice album. Big Fuckin' Deal is a good hard rock song and White Lies/Black Truth is a good ballad. Similarity have with Guns N' Roses.
