I dunno about the dosage, but the production values have certainly been upped, compared with From Hell To Texas. This is the band's biggest, loudest sound yet. I saw an inteerview where Ruyter Suys said Up The Dosage is "more serious" than previous releases, and I wish the interviewer would have asked her to elaborate, because to me, this is pretty typical hell-raisingNashville Pussy, sex-crazed and drug-addled. The two biggest surprises are also the two best songs, the honky-tonk singalong of "Before The Drugs Wear Off," complete with organ, piano and female harmonies, and the pure, mandolin-laced country of "hooray For Cocaine." Among the rockers, the disc gets off to a surprisingly mi-paced start with "Everybody's Fault But Mine," but then "Rub It To Death" and "Spent" remind of the meth-punk of the first album.

Aside from the two curveballs (which sound like something Blaine's old band Nine Pound Hammer would have done), highlights are "Till The Meat Falls Off The Bone," "The South's Too Fat To Rise Again," "White And Loud," and "Pillbilly Blues." Overall, not an instant like Get Some or High As Hell were, but a worthy addition to the catalog nonetheless.

Of the two bonus tracks, "Beggin' For A Taste" is good enough to have been on the album proper. The alternate version of "Before The Drugs Wear Off" isn't that different, maybe fiifteen seconds longer, with louder bass and less piano and organ.
