Heavy Harmonies Review
From: Dan Date: March 16, 2003 at 23:52
Talk about a blast from the past! I thought this band was long gone, but evidently not. If the music on the disc is any indication, the band is alive and kickin'! How to classify the disc... hmm... howsabout "rough and raw bar rock"? It's heavier-edged hard rock, with just a slight sleaze element to it (maybe a comparison to The Screaming Jets is in order). It maintains its roots solidly in the '80s (no alternagrunge going on here).

The performances are solid and the band seems quite tight. Most of the numbers are mid-tempo rockers, with the occasional ballad thrown in. While I don't normally gravitate towards rawer material, in this case the rough edges aren't a detraction; if anything they add credibility and authenticity to the stories the band is telling. Unashamed raw hard rock, as gritty as it comes. Get some today!

I have heard a couple of songs off this one, straight-forward rock. Kerosene is a great song. Highly recommended for fans of the first two albums.

Every Mother's Nightmare's Back Traxx is their best album apart from Wake Up Screaming, with better song writing than anything they've done before. The only thing that let the Back Traxx album down is the production, it might not concern some people but I'm usually very fussy with production, none the less it's a very good cd. I are yet to hear their Back Traxx 2 album but I'm looking forward to it very much.

David - I agree with you. Back Traxx is my favorite aside from Wake Up Screaming. I just picked up their new live disc and that is pretty impressive as well. The only thing is that there are no songs from WUS. The only disc I now need is SDV. I have not heard about Back Traxx 2. Should be killer as well. Great band!!

It's not that this album isn't full of solid hard crunching rock n roll, it's quite good music - but this is not what the average fan is going to expect or likely want from a band that have traditionally delivered in the past and are known for having their own sound. The music is tough, aggressive and biased towards the alternative attitude. If you are a fan of darker melodic metal, or albums with a modern rock tone, then this might appeal, as some of the tracks have real bite.

Very good come back album!! The song Smokin' Voodoo Delta kicks arse!!

From: Geoff Date: March 1, 2005 at 5:41
There are some great songs here and this is good hard rock, but it just doesn't feel like EMN to me. Only the lead vocalist remains and this is decent, but for me noting more than that.

i totally agree with the heavyharmonies.com owner on this one.. good solid release

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: January 6, 2009 at 16:48
Well, this isn't quite the same, uptempo, party-rock band we first met back in 1990. The music hear reminds me more of Tesla (circa Bust A Nut) or Brother Cane (Seeds) than their old Ratt-on-speed sound. Still plenty of good songs, though, but definitely slower, and with more mellower passages. My favorites would be the rockers "Push" and "Kerosene," the almost countryish "#3" (I think that's a number-sign, not a 4), and the laid-back "Somehow."
