The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Compilations CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. EPs and CD-singles from Compilations are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

The track list says it all: New Thing; 10,000 Lovers; Down Boys; Turn Up the Radio... This CD is a great jumping off point for anyone interested in 80's hair metal. However, most fans of the genre probably own most of these classic cuts already. I myself bought this CD just to check out some bands I didn't know much about (Enuff Z'Nuff in particular) and I can honestly say there isn't a bad song on here.

Of the four Youth Gone Wild CD's, this one has theleast number of obvious choices. But really ... Metal Church? Don't get me wrong, I like the band and thesong, but I'm not sure if it belongs on this CD. A better pick would've been something from, say, Sleez Beez or maybe Hardline.

Actually Fizz, although I see what you're saying about the type of music not fitting w/the rest of the tracks here, "Badlands" was what swayed me to get this one. I loved the song but didn't care too much for the rest of the album so when I saw it here with the other great songs it was a no brainer. Kudos to whoever put this compilation together.

Hey Fiz- i see what you're saying but if you're going by that argument -what about Heathen,Pretty Maids, and Leatherwolf? I think it's kinda cool because some people think of 80's metal as just Crue, Poison, Warrant, etc. This comp kind of shows there was more going on than just commercial metal. A good comp except for I'm not a Slaughter fan at all but besides that one, I own every one of the other discs.

Yeah, Blue Tequila, "Badlands," "Fake Healer" and "Of Unsound Mind" are the only songs off that Metal Church album that I really like. I prefer their first two records, even with the awful screeching of David Wayne.

The last entry in the Youth Gone Wild series is also the least consistent. By sticking to one song per band, they have run dry of hits, save for the Warrant, Autograph and Salughter songs. The rest of the disc consists of some good minor hits (TNT, Pretty Maids, Shotgun Messiah) with some crap (D'Molls and Every Mothers Nightmare). I will agree with the others, Metal Church does not really fit well on this album, despite "Badlands" being a good track. 8/10

Pretty cool compilation of lesser known bands this one is one of the better Heavy Metal Hits Of The '80s Compilations you go from bands like Shotgun Messiah and Every Mother's Nightmare to Leatherwolf and Metal Church i'll listen to this one quite often.

In 1996 Rhino released 3 excellent compilations of the 80s metal scene titled "Youth Gone Wild". Bizarrely, none featured that Skid Row song though. Then, out of the blue, 2 years later they released Volume 4. This is probably my favourite of the series as it included more Tier B and C groups like D'Molls, Shotgun Messiah, and Junkyard alongside big-hitters like Slaughter, Stryper and Warrant. The Heathen track is the only thing I have from that band.

I used to see this compilation series advertised on late-night cable a lot back in the late '90's. It made me happy that music even acknowledged again, after several years of being nearly extinct in the wild (pun intended).
