If you notice that a particular Face Dancer CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. From Maryland, these guys have an different approach, fusing hard pop, pomp, and AOR. Not quite sure how they do it, but hey, it's worth a listen. Their redeeming features would be a comparison to Queen, plus the heavy handed drum work from Trainor, and Jeff Adams magic guitar tone.

This is a superb slice of quirky pomp/AOR. Definately the bands best album although Midnite Raid and the recent Live offering come close (About Face their second album was a lot more M.O.R.). I've loved this album for years and the hilarious lyrics to Time Bomb are superb. Red Shoes the opener is a sure fire get up and groove song, and the O.T.T. feel of The Sphinx is great. A must own!!!

Ignore what I said about the Live offering above...I must have been off my face when I wrote that (actually I got mixed up with a bootleg I have of the band!... or had it got chewed up in the tape player about two months after I wrote the above!!).

It's about time this one gets a decent CD release ! Songs like Red Shoes, Can't Stand Still and Time Bomb to name a few are little pomp/AOR jewels ! GREAT STUFF !!!

"Time Bomb" and "Cry Baby" kicks major butt! Great album actually. "About Face" was a far cry from this on. Anyone heard the album "On"? Read the title in someone's want list but have never seen it around!

Whatever happened to the Face Dancer website, is it all gone or has it re-located? Also, I have never been able to track down 'This World' and 'About Face' on CD, are they just as terrible looking as the 'Midnite Raid' CD, if so, what about the sound on the CD's? Shall I stick to my vinyls and stop looking for the CD's? Anybody heard the live album, is it worth tracking down? Thanks in advance for your help...

Quirky Pomp at it's best, with the full fantastic Rock Candy treatment behind it. Really cool to finally have a full proper re-issue of this one and although as Nick says above, this is their best disc by some distance, hopeflly the rest of their catologue will follow aswell.

From: Delbert Date: May 13, 2014 at 12:40
Coming from Washington D.C., this was the band's debut release. It was originally a vinyl only release until Rock Candy gave it a CD reissue. They never fully received the commercial acclaim that their music certainly deserved. Face Dancer still left a legacy with those in the know that still continues to this day. The sound is somewhere in a mix of ILLUSION, THE B'ZZ and RATT with some killer guitar work and some influences of LED ZEPPLIN as well. Truly another in a long line of hidden hard rock classics.....

The guys in Kix have sung Face Dancer's praises, having played the Baltimore/DC/Central PA clubs together back in the day. I believe a reunited configuration of some kind ha actually opened some of Kix's recent shows as well.
