A poor man's Helix. Ironically, you can't be much of a poor man to afford this CD, as its $92 eBay average selling price will quickly point out.

From: Ronnie Date: January 24, 2002 at 16:35
Man, this CD rocks. Recommeded. Not sure about paying 90.00 bucks for it, but Its a great one to have. Lots of energy.

From: Jóse Carlos Date: February 25, 2002 at 12:56
Buen disco aunque no es su mejor obra. Por cierto a mi me costo 350 pesetas (2€)(1,5$).

From: bloodbreath Date: March 8, 2002 at 21:40

It's only been in the last few months that this has finally been reissued. Prior to that, this was one of the most saught-after CDs out there.

From: Tony Date: April 12, 2002 at 6:25
Oh man for those of you not old enough to remember the video for "Keep The Spirit Alive" I weep for you!!! Just one of the greatest videos ever made and should be played still DAILY to remind us that perfection can be attained. Kicking dwarfs around in wooden boxes is just such a lost art form now. As for the re-release as far as I know there is no fully sanctioned release out there. It's been delayed for months now. Re-release that video for cripes sakes!!!!

From: TIM Date: May 2, 2002 at 21:43
These guys aren't my favorite, but they do have some great tunes.

From: nitrodoll Date: August 27, 2002 at 10:10
i agree with tim but they should have been more succesfull because some songs are really good.. this is maybe my favorite killer dwarfs album although i haven't heard em all... nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

A friend had this album and it rocked. Surprised to see it's worth so much. Keep the Spirit Alive just plain rocks for late 80's.

From: steve Date: February 5, 2003 at 0:30
Killer dwarfes are one of the most under-rated bands out there. This album rocks like only they can.

From: RichieRocker Date: March 27, 2003 at 15:25
Why is it that this album has such a huge price on Ebay, and the others dont't? Is there something special about this album that isn't in the other albums??

From: TIM Date: March 27, 2003 at 15:39
Someone liked it a whole lot and overhyped it. I don't know if you notice now everyone is saying their cd sounds like Foxx, Jillson, Heartless, Sweet Teaze, Rock Boulevard, etc.. They want big money so they exaggerate.

From: RichieRocker Date: March 27, 2003 at 16:06
TIM what is your opinion on the term "sellout" Everybody says Metallica is a sellout. Did the record company have anything to do with there releases from 1996 to present? Did they make Metallica cut there hair and change there image, or was it Meatllica doing it on there own? On =another subject I see what your saying when people hype up a band and says it sounds like certain bands when it really doesnt, It's a shame. Keep Rockin!!

From: TIM Date: March 27, 2003 at 17:09
Hey RichieRocker, send me your email addy and I'll let you know. I'm sure Dan doesn't want me to fill up the Killer Dwarf threads talking about Metallica. Mine is rio1harris@aol.com.

Richierocker77@yahoo.com TIM my computer is at school Ill be able to check your response on Monday. Im using the computer at home right now! Thanks , Keep Rockin!

"Why is it that this album has such a huge price on Ebay, and the others don't?" One word: scarcity. I've been fairly adept (and lucky) scrounging for CDs here in the midwest. In 8 years I've only ever found one copy on CD. All of the others I've found multiples and multiples of, including the S/T, which as of 2-3 years ago was still in print in Canada. Stand Tall is just a tough find. It's a toss up to me as to which is KD best album, this one or "Big Deal". Also, I may have been incorrect on my earlier comment about this being reissued. I know there was a reissue planned, but it may not have actually happened.

From: Hot Rod Date: April 20, 2003 at 2:13
Why pay anything for this.I just downloaded the whole album off of Kazaa for zilch! And I've got to say, it isn't that good. Musically it's not too bad, but the lyrics and vocals are lame. If you pay more than $10 for this.....YOU ARE NUTS!!!! (4.5 Rating)

From: Connaisseur Date: April 20, 2003 at 9:37
Bullseye Records of Canada (under license from Sony),have rereleased the CD. It is available at http://www.bullseyecanada.com/ for $15 CDN / $12 US.

From: ED Date: August 27, 2003 at 10:58
Not my favorite of all time, but this album rocks! Some of my favorite songs from this band can be found here, in this album. STAND TALL and KEEP THE SPIRIT ALIVE are some of the greatest from this band!

From: Rene. Date: October 19, 2003 at 8:55
Yes, this album is finaly reissued finaly. Also they just released their first live album and DVD. If you go to the KILLER DWARFS home page, you have all the information. I love this album(that i have on vinyl) and for me the best KILLER DWARFS record ever. They are not a poor HELIX version only because they are from Canada too.

From: lance1 Date: December 14, 2003 at 1:44
killer dwarfs rock hard and deliver the goods on stand tall.keep the spirit alive is the best song on here to me.good videos too.saw them host headbangers ball with rob halford.great cd to have in your metal collection.

From: Dean Date: December 21, 2003 at 14:04
I def. don't agree with the Helix comparision on this one. The vocals sound nothing alike. If anything this reminds me of a less glam Vain even though the Dwarfs were around much sooner. I remember when the Keep the Spirit Alive vid was on MTV and it kicked ass. Same with Stand Tall. The vids showed a sense of humor to the band that somehow made the lyrics seem cooler. Awesome cd.

From: stef the french Date: July 20, 2004 at 17:16
ONE OF THE MAJOR CANADIAN BAND ! THIS ALBUM IS AN VERY GOOD ONE AND PREPARE THE NEXT ONE WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY THE BEST OF THE DWARVES. AN ORIGINAL & FANTASTIC VOICE , AN EXCELLENT MELODIC HARD ROCK !!! (7,5/10)

From: Johnny Date: August 20, 2004 at 18:56
i thought they kinda sounded like rush

From: Johnny Date: August 20, 2004 at 19:18

From: JSpillman Date: November 22, 2005 at 12:33
My favorite album by one of my favorite artists. I like all of these tracks. This is also a great live band that puts on a helluva show. Very under-rated group that deserves much more success.

From: Nick C Date: January 4, 2006 at 22:31
Aw!!!!! Noooooooooo!!!! Don't tell me this, I had the Grudge version, I picked it up in Manchester at a shop called Yanks in the sale for about £3!!! It hung around the house for years as I never really got into it (although I liked the 1st release somewhat) it got relegated to my "sell on" stuff but I eventually threw it out about 2 years ago while moving house figuring it was worth zilch!!!!! ARRRRGGRGRGRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

From: Fat Freddy Date: August 8, 2007 at 17:03
These guys sound like Dokken with Geddy Lee of Rush on lead vocals. Their minor hit single "Keep The Spirit Alive" is a decent track, the rest is somewhat forgettable. Not a bad disc if you can find it, but don't go nuts looking for it (or pay ridiculous ebay prices) either.

From: hair metal again Date: December 29, 2012 at 9:32
excellent release by KILLER DWARFS ,somewhere between DOKKEN and RATT i d say!big ,polished production ,awesome guitar work and many good songs always with a commercial edge!"keep the spirit alive","out in the streets","do or die" are the highlights of their 2nd step that took their sound and career in a much higher level than their debut!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: January 23, 2013 at 15:25
A good album...a pre warning to the band's next effort "Big Deal" that was kinda of a "Big Deal" indeed ..."Stand Tall","Human Survival"(AORish here and there),"Borderline"(thumbs up!),"Through Animal Eyes"(catchy),"Keep The Spirit Alive"(catchy) & "Bite The Hands That Feed"(rocks good!)are my faves...84/100

From: Buitre Date: June 14, 2013 at 6:13
Just for the general knowledge -as it seems so important to everybody- I've got it on LP for 7€. I just can compare it to Dirty Weapons and, ok, the lyrics might be a little bit childish but "A poor man's Helix???" No way, I wouldn't even compare them. But hey, my music must kick my own butt, and this one kicks me really good! 80/100

From: dany69 Date: February 24, 2017 at 16:16

From: Metal T Date: April 4, 2022 at 21:48
Great band and record! Definitely deserves another reissue.'Rock Candy' im sure would do great job w/ their catalog...even 'Bad Reputation' etc. would suffice.I've always thought Russ Graham and Mike Hall were one-helluva-underrated writing team.Long overdue for a studio record too IMO.

From: dany69 Date: April 5, 2022 at 0:01
