This is very novice sounding metal. Messiah Prophet later blossomed musically and certainly the production got a whole lot better. Some of the tunes are good, even memorable at times. "Rock The Flock" has a real jagged edge on it's sound however and much of the potential for anything "melodic" is spoiled by the poor production quality. I'd like to see them actually "re-record" this release instead of just re-issue it. Still not bad, just don't pay too much for it obviously.

I love this CD !!! got it in 2001 or so, and havent listened to it so much, but certainly theres a lot of quality metal here, reminds me a mixture between Deep Pruple and Black Sabbath, or, 70s metal. production sucks, but the songs are all great. a underrated classic for sure !!!

They may have been rocking for God Himself, but the production is anything but heavenly. Re-record these songs with today's production capabilities, or at least give them a proper remastering, and I predict fans of '80s white-metal would gobble this up like a hungry fox in a flock of crippled geese. Production woes aside, there really are some good, hooky, hard rocking tunes on here. The band's sophomore release, "Master of the Metal," gets far more attention, but this debut features some of their strongest songs, such as "Rock the Flock," "Why Must You Run," and "To the Rock." Of course, just like "Master of the Metal," this also contains its fair share of filler material, making listening to this CD a hit-n-miss affair. Chalk this one up as a flawed but solid effort from a fledging band at the beginning of the '80s Christian metal movement.
