Hard AOR americano,totalmente influenciados por el primer disco de Bon Jovi,hasta hay un tema de ese disco como es Shot Through The Heart,que compuso el mismo Jon con Jack Ponti que luego seria principal compositor de Baton Rouge,en lo que al disco respecta,decir que son temas comerciales y con ritmo,vamos como el 1º de Bon ,aunque para mi no tan bueno como aquel.BUEN DISCO.

I agree with my pal HardGuy. In hell it's an AOR album. Classic Hard Rock stuff! (By the way, the best of 80's stuff!) If it's AOR, so Bon Jovi is... strange concepts we see here...

I fully agree with Hard Guy and Hardeza. Its the best group from the 80's. I totaly enjoyed every track. But i have a quesion who are the names of the men in the picture and which one are they?????????? If anyone could tell me i would grately appreciate any help. I can't find the answer on my cd.... I realy would love to know any information on this group. They are awsome......

Some good moments on this, but not the monster aor album that it was hailed as when it first came out. Oh this is an aor album by the way, as is the first Jovi album, and if you were around at that time you would know this. This is only a 6/10 though.

Hi there Grudador. Classic hard rock to me is the likes of Whitesnake, Scorpions etc..These were never metal acts, that was left to the likes of Sabbath, Motorhead etc. When this Surgin album came out originally i was an avid fan of AOR, and i bought it as it was reviewed in the Kerrang AOR collum at the time (a collum called Wimpwire) anyone remember that? This album sits alongside the likes of Prophet, Aldo Nova, and early Bon Jovi (imo) and they (imo) are/ were AOR bands/ Artists. Regards.

Maybe another section on this fantastic site would be appropriate at times. A heading such as 'Melodic hard rock' and then maybe the likes of Surgin etc could fit into that bracket? Who knows?

'Surgiao'..Everyone has their own definition of what AOR and hard rock is...They are not the same thing..Hard rock in the early 80's to me is the likes of Scorpions, Whitesnake etc, who are pretty much always classed as metal, which they most definately aint. I class Surgin in the same mould as the bands i stated earlier, and those bands to me are Aor bands, and have always been classed as that. Jack Ponti is a renowned AOR/Melodic rock songwriter, and always has been. Surgin were Aor to me..

Many people have a old fashioned concept that classic Hard Rock is only the music played by the bands born in the 70s... for these people, everything that started in the 80s must be called AOR, once this style has its beggining in the 80s as well... I agree that Scorpions and Whitesnake play classic Hard Rock, but so does Surgin'! Conclusion: many bands that started in the 80s perform classic Hard Rock just like many other are AOR oriented.

Pretty much the same as the first, demo quality melodic rock. not bad songs similar in style but the poor sound stops it being awesome. If you liked the first you will probably like the second.

Album Promedio no para considerarlo clasico ni nada asi, esperaba mas de este album, tienes sus buenos temas el caso de Shot Through the Heart o Heartbeat Away los mejores cortes, muy en onda Le Mans, Treat o Bon Jovi(de esos años, pero sin llegar al nivel de estos), un album aprobado con lo justo.

What a great album! Fantastic keys, crazy vocals and good production & remaster. Now what i´d like to here is the Baton Rouge cd "Shake Your Soul" which i don´t have. (Ponti says that he considers it the "missing" second Surgin` album)

Un gran disco de hard AOR, en la onda del primero de BON JOVI, pero un poco mas hard si cabe decir... a mi, particularmente, me encanta el disco, y miren que no esperaba mucho de SURGIN en su momento, pero si me llegaron a sorprender gratamente gracias a temazos como "When Midnight Comes" y la melódica e intensa "Not Done Lovin' You"... CLARO QUE SI... MUY BUEN HARD/AOR

Hell yeah, one of the best records of the era, laden with megahits from A to Z. Hats off to Jack Ponti for creating such a masterpiece. Btw you can love or hate Russell Arcara's voice but I certainly dig it.

If you like Fate "A Matter Of Attiude",just got for it.So far from Bon Jovi's debut in my opinion as they are more European in sound.

Very good debut album by Surgin...one of the curiosities of this album is that a lad named Jon Bongiovi or may i say Jon Bon Jovi did some backing vocals on the record ...in fact is kinda funny reading the comments above about the comparisson of this release with Bon Jovi's debut but nobody said that the man himself did some backing vocals here...anyway my faves tracks are "When Midnight Comes","Shot Through The Heart"(some nice AOR feel in it),"Not Done Lovin' You"(nice ballad),"In The Heat Of It All"(great!) & "Desiree"....AOR,Hard AOR,Hard Rock,Melodic Hard Rock or whatever u wanna call it but what's important is that this album surely is a good one...'nuff said...88/100

a marvellous record.absoluty essential.what a bomb.jack ponti is a genius.on this album it s very simple 10 tracks 10 hits.only hits.imagine a mix of bon jovi ,blue tears and baton rouge.ok with vinfer it s a real masterpiece.

SURGIN s debut is a classic mid 80 s release and sums up what was happening in the East Coast hard rock scene at the moment with that intense sound based on strong keys and howling guitars along with passionate vocals and lyrics only for the love game!brilliant from start to finish
