A FRENCH JEWEL OF MELODIC POWER ROCK IN THE LEVEL OF TRUST OR WARNING. FRONTED BY FEMALE VOCALIST FABIENNE SHINE.ROSS THE BOSS WAS A MENBER TOO OF THIS GOOD DESPEARED BAND.LYRICS IN ENGLISH......VERY HARD TO FIND IN CD FORMAT

This album simply rocks!! Trashy hard rock from long before that became even remotely fashionable

Great early 80's melodic hard rock from France. PERSONNEL : Fabienne Shine (lead vocals), Eric Lewy (guitars), Ross The Boss (guitars), Mike Winter (bass), Jean Lou Kalinowski (drums). PRODUCER : sandy Pearlman (of Blue Oyster Cult fame)

Bonjour à vous tous et encore merci pour ces merveilleux moments passés à vous écouter.

They opened up for the infamous "Black and Blue" tour in 1980 (Black Sabbath w/Dio & Blue Oyster Cult)in Buffalo. I always remember them because I had just bought the album and loved it. I think me and my buddies were the only ones in the 18,000 stoners who knew who they were. PS - I also have their self titled debut LP.

One of the best albums of the 80's. Melodic metal, with few peers. Really impressive female wolf yelps, and Ross The Boss the guitar god. He fired notes off a Les Paul, like an M-16 spits copper-coated death. A couple years after the release, I found the LP, for $1 each. Lucky me...

From: AOR freaky Date: March 25, 2004 at 5:37
Indeed, the best french hardrock CD ever. Really powerfull and good stuff !

From: Rockhead Date: March 25, 2004 at 7:40
A good album for sure but hardly essential. Fabienne had a good voice but only the title track on here is great-the rest is ok not awful but not legendary. For me the best French export is definately Trust. Had they had a different singer (he in my opinion stopped them becoming legendary)they would have been huge. L'elite for the guitar work and Repression for the songs-Trust a great French band.

From: andreasb Date: April 4, 2004 at 19:48
I love this ... one of my absolute favs of the early 80ies. It's a jewel, go for a copy! Vive la france! ;-)

Solid As A Rock - an absolutely must have rock n roll power anthem - Side 1 of the Shakin' Street LP stands with anything ever made - I still thrash it regularly after all these years. Call it hard rock, call it rock'n'roll, call it the best.

A Blast from the past this one - finally re-issued on the Bad Reputation label with the 'Live & Raw' album as bonus tracks. Forgot how good this one was, from the crunching riff of 'I Want To Box You' to mega commercial tracks like 'Susie Wong' and 'So Fine'. Regarded by many as one of the best French hard rock cd's of all time - maybe , but i think Trust - 'Repression' would give this a good run for it's money!!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: July 26, 2004 at 13:46
This is indeed very, very good and powerfull stuff ! I like it to have on CD ! Where did you get it, Jez ? ! Hope you'll answer ! Thanks ! And Jez, this is head and shoulders above anything Trust ever did, only my opinion !

Thanks, Jez ! I appreciate it ! I'll go for it !

From: Rockhead Date: July 27, 2004 at 4:34
Trust's debut album Elite is a fantastic slice of Van Halen inspired rock. The guitar work is amazing!! Repression has also stood the test of time well. Shakin Street were IMO a one hit wonder with only the track "Solid As A Rock" hitting the highs. I doubt this band would even have been signed had it not been for Pearlman's influence. Average at the very best. Reminds me of countless NWOBHM acts who were prevelant at the time.

Enjoyable album with that edgy Rock sound tipically of the late 70's or early 80's mostly European.."No Compromise" is excellent,a rock tune with guts!,"Solid As A Rock" is "solid" with a nice catchy chorus but if we are talking about catchy tunes then "No Time To Lose" got the prize,"Soul Dealer" is also excellent and another highlight is "Susie Wong"..then the best tracks 4 me are "Generation X" and the top notch of the album is the last one "I Want To Box You"...a female fronted band for the likes of Pat Benatar and so on...85/100..a french jewell like Japosville wrote back in 2002!
