If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.

The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Mantissa CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from Mantissa are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

This one is a surprise package! An excellent album that really has its own feel and energy. It's what you might call artistic rock, a little bit free-form and nothing to head-bang to but really very likeable. This is one you'll want to listen to a fair bit.

Very unique, not 80's style, not grunge, not "nu", kinda spacy hard rock. If I had to compare it to anything I think I might go with Animal Bag. My favs are Mary Mary and Sanctify. Goes for cheap and worth it IMHO if you'd like somethin' a wee bit different for your collection.

I agree that it's hard to catogorize this one. Quite a different sound but it's not really my style and I couldn't get into it. I'm not saying it's bad, just not my thing. It's easily found for cheap prices. So if your looking for something a little off the beaten path, pick up a copy and give it a spin.

ok debut for MANTISSA back in 92 and as you expect this has a certain 90 s feel with a very likely electric sound and very energetic!the musicianship is excellent ,but the songs aren clear and the choruses weak ,so i guess that s why we didnt hear more of them!"mary mary"and "the seed" are decent songs!

Great album, I liked it at first listen. @Blue Charvel: Funny that you mentioned Animal Bag because they seem to have many connections to Mantissa (not only musically) and this is how I've heard about Mantissa. I was looking at the Animal Bag debut album page at discogs and wanted to check who's responsible for the... art direction on this CD (I just love the cover art on this album ). It turned out it's Michael Bays and I checked briefly other albums that this guy was involved in and I noticed Mantissa's Mossy God album which looked somehow interesting. There was the "Land of The Living" low quality video linked on this album's discogs page and I immediately loved it. I know I wrote detailed description of how I got to know them but I wanted to show how random situations can lead you to new music BTW another Mantissa/Animal Bag connection - Terry Date who produced Mantissa debut album also produced the second Animal Bag album which was dropped just before its planned debut.

These guys and gal could certainly rock. The cover pictured above is of the American version. I prefer the Australian album cover. Land of the Living was a minor hit. I know a lot of people say "they shoulda been bigger" but I am gonna say it again. I still play this album fairly regularly, as well as their earlier EPs they released as "Killing Time". Not sure why they changed their name. If only hard rock went this direction rather than grunge.
