This cd is the absolute best whitecross cd ever. Rex carroll makes steve vai sound like crud. He is also a strong christian.

what a top song, in the kingdom. Im no christain metal fan, but this song is tops.

There was a 'white phase' in the late '80's: Great White, Whitesnake, White Lion ... hey, why not WHITECROSS?! ( Yet another blow against Christian rock's creativity.) WC is ah-ight, nothing special. They're polished, but so-so. 'In the Kingdom' rocks hard as does 'No 2nd Chances'. Credit where it's due. WC has been around longer than a lot of other bands. So, props, guys! But, there's just too much schlock to wade through on this CD to get to the good songs. This one will go to eBay soon.

Whitecross may have exhibited superior musicianship and Wenzel may have sounded just like S. Pearcy, but that doesn't make up for the lack of good songwriting on 'In The Kingdom'. Really, the band would have benefited greatly had there been better lyrics. Perhaps they could have gotten some help--I mean A LOT of help, from outside songwriters. Besides the poorly written lyrics, Rex's playing is fantastic & the rest of the band contributed some great material as well. Hate the choir, though.

I love Whitecross music! Rex Carroll was really fantastic when was playing in Whitecross. In the Kingdom is a Rex poem. Rex is the best chistian guitar player i've ever known. But i prefer the 'High Gear' album: it's LETAL!!!!

I am a long time drummer/songwriter and have been in many bands. The bottom line is White Cross is perhaps lyrically, musically and spiritually one of the best bands ever! Any comments otherwise...Well you just do not have a good ear or heart!

From: Steve F. Date: February 8, 2003 at 22:17
The beginning of the end, in my opinion. The first two tracks are good and 'Love Is a Weapon' has a great guitar riff, even if it sounds like they raided Dokken's storehouse. But there are too many ballads and mid-tempo numbers, and 'Holy War' made me want to retch. This was really the last Whitecross album that had any value for me.

well it's really cool to see all the nice comments on my guitar playing, thank you very very much! I always did the best I could do, given the situation, and this album was technically very very good. but, everybody else had their agendas too so there's a couple songs on this I had nothing to do with, so the feeling of this not being a true whitecross album is in some sense justified. No 2nd Chances is still one of my favorite songs to play. thanks again for all the support.

Believe it or not, I am a 40 yr old mother of 5, I listened to this album for the first time maybe 7 yrs ago, and I was so moved, I have searched everywhere for the video, I did own it, but sooo many people always wanting to borrow it, and share it, I ended up losing it. You have touched many lives in my circle of friends, God Bless

Hey! Really cool to see comments from Rex [presuming that's actually him]. I found this album to perhaps be best-produced album from the group. Heavier songs were very tight [No 2nd Chances - one of the best from the band]. Wenzel's vocals were at peak - rasp came through very well and added to over-all effect. Guitar was excellent - as always. Drums and bass were very tight. [I'm a keyboard player; but listen to a lot of guitar-driven music - so I appreciate what's involved.]...Rgds,

They softened their sound a little on this one and even tried a partial rap song. Has maybe 4 good songs. Guitar work is as always kicks ass but the song writing and prodution makes me wonder if half way through recording this they were drugged and brainwashed into thinking they were supposed to sound like Richard Marx.

From: Deon Date: April 21, 2004 at 17:08
Although I love this album, I have to admit that it is only certain songs that truly stand out, and the rest I hardly EVER listen to them (perhaps once every few years to remind myself why I don't like them at all). Strangely, In the Kingdom is one of my least favourites, but it at least ranks higher than 'If he goes before me' and 'Tell me the time'. All time favourite song is Holy War... the riff in the middle of the song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Rex is awesome!

the first album I've heard from this band and I like it a lot. The lyrics are so positive living and well written. The production here is top notch. Maybe only two songs here that didn't moved me, I don't mean lyricaly but musically. These two are you will find it there and tell me the time. They do sound like ratt but these guys wrote deeper lyrics than ratt.

From: skonci Date: June 3, 2012 at 7:03
so far I've heard now about this band, this record is in my top 3 by Whitecross, others two are their debut album and Triumphant return.second Mike is as good drummer as previous Mike.Scott voice is still great here and also Rex's guitar playing.the production is again top notch for me if you compare it to their debut album.if their debut album would have this kind of production, it would be a defenitive winner for me.my favourites here: tracks 1,2,3,4,6,9 and 11.do yourself a small favour ang get this record or just give it a listen on the net.I think it will eventually grow on you if not the very first moment you will haer it.God bless you all!!!

very good release for WHITECROSS as usual with amazing guitar work by Rex and many good songs like "no second chances","love is our weapon" and "we know what s right"!the lyrics are as Christian as it can get and i believe that it was too much for the band and that it didnt help them commercially!anyway every WHITECROSS release is worth having
