This was my top release of 1999 and what a release it was. Stan the man is on top form as usual, ably supported by Peter Fredette (Kim Mitchell Band). Rob is quite right in his comments, so i will say no more, apart from BUY BUY BUY

From: freddy de keyze Date: February 18, 2003 at 12:26
Great record, but with Stan (listen to his solo albums too !) and Peter, how could it be bad ? ! This is very fine AOR, a pleasure to listen too. Buy !

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: February 28, 2003 at 19:30

From: Peter Poland Date: March 11, 2003 at 19:44
Really, really good album , very well produced. Metropolis is something in TOTO vain, stan messner had done great oj on vocals. It's very melodic stuff, my favourite tracks -The Power of the Night and eyes of the love, but there is no bad song on it, everything on this cd rock from first track to last one.

From: Dani Date: May 15, 2003 at 23:32

Cracking AOR album, a must have ! Stan did it again. Hope we hear a lot more of him !

From: GlenRavine Date: March 26, 2004 at 15:36
This is magnificent. Great sound, great hooks and the vocals will rock you out. All the songs are catchy and have a wonderful flow to the melodies. Highly recommended. Stan and Peter - another great team - likes of Seventh Key. Very good. Production is fantastic.

From: Rycheage Date: March 28, 2004 at 23:40
The majority of this is superb AOR, mid-paced a majority of the time, and the hooks are incredible. Anywhere within these songs are delicious moments of sheer class, whether it be the intro's, verses, lead-ins/bridges, choruses .. whatever. Songs such as effortless 'Restless Moon', the stabbing piano/ keyboard attack of 'The Darkest Side Of The Night', and 'A Million Miles Away' keep coming back for more.

From: TIM (2) Date: June 22, 2004 at 9:03
Absolutely killer AOR. I remember hearing "Darkest Side of the Night" on one of the ten-thousand Friday 13th films, but almost every other track is as good. "Never Look Back" is my fave, but this changes regularly! A masterpiece, buy anything with Stan Meissner's name on it and you won't regret it. 10/10.

From: Geoff Date: January 7, 2005 at 18:59
"Since you've gone, I've learned to face the truth... Now I'm wild and blue!" Just to ensure my stature as a moron I had to get that out of my system. Haven't heard this for a while, but 'Wild and blue' just blows my mind. Killer tune. Elsewhere, the majority of this album is pretty damn good melodic rock. Nothing comes close to the album opener, but still a very good CD.

From: Wachen Date: March 31, 2005 at 13:04
A very good and solid album! "Wild and blue", "The darkest side of the night" and "Running after a dream" are excellent songs! A good friend of mine said that this album is his favourite album to listen to in the middle of the night.. =) The album title says it all...very nice..

From: AUGUSTO Date: November 15, 2005 at 12:39
BUENISIMO, AOR CLASICO, HAZ DE CUENTA QUE SE GRABO EN 1986, UN MEISSNER GENIAL, SE NOTA MUCHO SU LABOR COMPOSITIVA AQUI, SINCERAMENTE, NINGUN TEMA QUE SACAR , UN CD COMPLETITO, MUY AGRADABLE. SI LO PODES TENER, NI LO DUDES

From: Erik Date: November 21, 2005 at 11:04
Wild and Blue is a true gem of a song. LOVE IT ! Descent album all in all.

From: thiago Date: December 10, 2005 at 1:06
Metropolis is a great band!!! Fredette sings very well. The version of "Wild and Blue" is good (Meissner sings well too in a version of 86). "The Darkest Side of the Night" is a classic!!! It is theme from 'Friday the 13th - Jason Takes Manhattan' (1989). To me, "Never Look Back" is one of the best this CD. A great rock song!!! I wait that the Metropolis release other album soon. It has a perfect music style. Pure AOR!!!

From: Lovedrive Date: January 6, 2006 at 7:15

From: JudithXR Date: January 29, 2006 at 21:30
Wow!!! All that I can say to Stan Meissner & Peter Fredette about this Metropolis - The Power Of The Night CD is...THIS ALBUM IS REALLY TERRIFIC & WONDERFUL with alot bombastic AOR tunes!!! :-) I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! My congratulations! My rating is 1000/1000.

From: Remastered Reason Date: February 7, 2006 at 21:35
This cd has an incredible vibrant array of many memorable tunes. Each song distinctively captures the true essence of high class AOR. Nothing here is out of place. Each note & beat comprising the melodies are distinctively in place, while the vocals & harmonies are perfectly executed with conviction. Any melodic rocker or AOR fan will appreciate this tremendous gem given to the genre. Essential Listening.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 7, 2006 at 9:42

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 7, 2006 at 10:05

Restless Moon, tremenda cancion. Totalmente recomendado.

From: shooto Date: June 23, 2007 at 7:54
vaya tela el rafo jejejej a veces me sorprendes con esos comentarios la leche en fin discazo great great great

From: Carlos A. Date: August 24, 2007 at 14:02

From: z4roxx Date: November 4, 2007 at 11:03
One word:FANTASTIC!Great old style aor full of hits...it's near to 10 IMO.

From: juan carlos Date: January 3, 2008 at 19:14
"Restless Moon" Que Balada Impresionante! mi Súper-Favorita, "Running After a Dream" "Walk Through the Fire" "The Best Is Good Enough"(Inicio a lo Journey pero Total!), "Never Look Back"(Bruce Turgon de Foreigner..

From: juan carlos Date: January 3, 2008 at 19:26
"The Power of the Night" me recordó horrores a toad The Wet Sprocket por esa melancolía tan típica de ellos. Imperdible Discazo. 9.6/10

From: shoemaker Date: February 9, 2008 at 15:34
The titletrack is outstandig, the rest is ok.

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: April 12, 2008 at 19:46
I couldn´t find the time to comment this album, but well it´s better later than never and here we are. Great AOR, some consider this one of the best, in my opinion maybe it is not that way, but we have great songs here, beautiful keyboards, a solid album and i think the best tracks here are: "Wild & Blue"(vibrant song); "Restless Moon" and the romantic and melancholic "The Power Of The Night" which in fact rises this album up to a very high level.

From: darobinson Date: May 14, 2008 at 19:50
Superb AOR!!! Get it if you can.......

From: Photochromic Steve Date: November 24, 2008 at 13:51
Quality AOR from start to finish. It's a pity that there was no follow-up. Has Stan given up recording these days?

From: KurtmanJP Date: January 26, 2009 at 16:57
Great album from start to finish. "Wild And Blue" is a great song but "The Best Is Good Enough" gets my vote as the best song. Killer chorus! Highly recommended if you like Night Ranger!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 17, 2010 at 21:01
Solid album with great songs,an album that you can listen as many times as you want without getting bored..the ones i liked the most were "The Darkest Side Of The Night","Never Look Back","Walk Through The Fire" and "Whatever It Is"..another goodies are tracks 1,5(nice ballad)and 10...if you like the quiet side of the AOR but without being Westcoast or Lite then you can dig this.91/100

From: Axelinger Date: August 30, 2011 at 1:36
I gave this album a chance by listening to it while driving, but found myself growing ever more irritated as the trite, hokey cliches piled up song after song. These lyrics suck big time - sappy cliche upon sappy cliche. Maybe some people like bland, familiar expressions masquerading as lyrics, but this stuff was seemingly written on auto-pilot. It's so pedestrian and uninspired, it makes Keel seem like Shakespeare by comparison. If you think this tripe is anything remotely resembling thoughtful, intelligent lyrics, then you're far too easily satisfied. Peter Fredette's work with Kim Mitchell is miles above this limp, tepid nonsense. It's no wonder there wasn't a follow-up - even record exec's probably lost their lunch after sitting through such a sloppy misuse of words. No edge; no bite; no teeth - nothing. Meandering fluff, at best.

From: petermexico Date: May 26, 2012 at 11:09
This is a great record, good sound, good performance, Stan and Peter did a great job, nothing original but very well done, Wild and Blue and Restless Moon are my favorites.

From: ROBERT Date: July 31, 2012 at 13:06
Remember: Demos of 1987! SUPER MASTERPIECE!!

From: 123charpenay Date: April 19, 2013 at 10:57
super class canadian a o r project.this record is a collection of hits who hooked you quickly.very easy to listen.highly recommanded to all fans of good and smart music.the song "the power of the night " is a real bomb who could play twenty time by day on radio.one bonus track on the japan import.

From: CLOUD FORCE Date: November 10, 2013 at 7:40
absolute AOR gem.it seemed amazing back in 99 that such a masterpiece could still come out.but half songs were written from 86/91 so there is an explanation! hig tech AOR at its best!almost better than previous records from stan meissner!

From: MysticHealer Date: November 11, 2013 at 17:16
Wow, totally forgot about this. Dug it out just the other day and it's still totally amazing. If you like the lighter side of AOR and you like the work of Stan Meissner then this is just for you. I remember the first time i heard 'Restless Moon' all those years ago and it tore my heart out, WHAT A SONG. Eyes Of Love, Never Look Back are also right up there. This whole release is first class, right at the top of the tree. If you can find this then buy immediately. Almost a perfect 10.

From: Roxas Date: November 22, 2022 at 16:29
Brilliant album that hasn't lost any quality after all these years. The Darkest Side of the Night has to be in my Top 10 all time...once an enigma that was first heard on Jason Takes Manhattan back The Movie Channel, Saturday 18th January 1992.

From: hair metal again Date: December 24, 2022 at 6:49
excellent album for Stan Meissner & Peter Fredette with a massive commercial sound ,fine musicianship and great songs full of hooks and pretty melodic lines!all the songs stand out and cant find anything weak in the Metropolis project ,except that it was never performed live and actually this is not a real band

From: Mickle Metal Date: July 26, 2023 at 19:01
Definitely an AOR, melodic rock favorite and about as close to perfect as it gets for this style. Can listen to this disc from top to bottom without skipping any tracks but favs include 2,4,6,9 Great stuff
