The band with the best guitarist and with the best singer! You've to have one of these!!

From: The_Judas Date: November 19, 2001 at 13:18
One of the best Deep Purple cd's.Ian Gillan is a fantastic singer,Blackmore and Glover provide some of their best riffs. Also Jon Lord does a great job with his Emerson influenced agressive and symphonic playing and Paice really smashes his drum set!

Great songs! Too bad the production is lifeless and dry. This material would work much better on stage. Check out MADE IN JAPAN for proof!

WHY ISN'T DEEP PURPLE IN ROCK IN THE ALBUM LIST?

From: monk Date: October 13, 2002 at 11:15
this is the greated album of all time.

From: Scott Date: February 6, 2003 at 16:01
I have to agree with monk. This is one of the GREATEST albums of all time! The heavy metal revolution began here! http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/deeppurple.htm

This is one of the alltime classic heavy albums of alltime. Every aspect of this release is killer. The vocals soar and every instrument is brilliantly played. Some of the best drumming I've ever heard is on this record.

smoke on the water was the first song i ever learned how to play on guitar, so this band holds fond memories for me. the originaters of what i call driving metal, in other words music with a drive to it. also if it hadnt been for purple my favourite band iron maiden probably would not havr happened. all props to purple. UP THE IRONS MATE.

Damn good cd. An alltime classic. I just bought a 2 cd set by them Live In Copenhagen. Its a bootleg (SUPERB-FM RELEASE)The bootleg shows are when you can really hear if a band can play. UHHHH, they played damn well then.

What else needs to be said about this one? One of the greatest hard rock albums ever and one that will stand the test of time. The album that made me want to play guitar. 10/10

From: John Date: September 1, 2004 at 15:00
There are 2 kinds of people that can't name 'Smoke On The Water' from the first three chords. The deaf and those who have been in some kind of cave since the late 60's. Simply one of the greatest hard rock records ever recorded. 10/10

From: Propane Date: November 30, 2004 at 10:05

A brilliant album in every way. I only got it for the novelty value of Smoke On The Water but I must say there isn't a bad song on here. Highway Star is definitely one of my favourite songs. Love the keyboards and guitar mixture as I was always a sucker for keyboards too!

Smoke on the Water & Highway Star

From: ShadowAngel Date: March 25, 2013 at 22:25
A rather short album with a very interesting history behind it which were the basis of the best known DP song, Smoke on the Water. Highway Star is a legend, Lazy is great and Space Truckin' is a fun song. Those 3 songs were always better live back then. Highway Star was a lot more powerful on that Japan Tour, Space Truckin' was made into a 15-30 minute jam session.. It's a great album but the classic songs were done better in concert. Pictures of Home is a rarely played song that is great too.

From: hair metal again Date: November 11, 2019 at 10:37
a masterpiece and ultimate classic of the rock music ,this one is great from start to finish and still sounds fresh and true!classic songs were born like "smoke on the water" and "highway star" but the rest of the songs are great as well!essential
