CD: The Cult - Sonic Temple
From: Dramarama Date: May 3, 2024 at 0:35
As many others said before me this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Strong, emotional, dark and immediate. This album will become a part of your life and never leave.

CD: The Cult - The Cult
From: Dramarama Date: May 3, 2024 at 0:32
I've never met an album by The Cult that I didn't like. The single Coming Down is probably the best track but the entire album is quite good.

CD: D Generation - No Lunch
From: Dramarama Date: May 3, 2024 at 0:00
This is a cool album although re recording 4 of the songs from the debut with lighter production is an odd choice.

CD: D Generation - Through the Darkness
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 23:58
A little more refined than the first album but it's still a lot of fun.

CD: A New Revenge - Enemies and Lovers
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 23:56
This is a great album. Aggressive but accessible I definitely recommend it.

CD: Bachman-Turner Overdrive - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 23:34
If you only know the hits this is a great collection to ease into BTO. Since most of the tracks on here are singles they're all ready friendly and catchy.

CD: A Rebel Few - As the Crow Flies
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 23:30
Awesome album, bloozy, sleazy hard rock. If you like Black Stone Cherry definitely give these guys a listen.

CD: Led Zeppelin - Latter Days: The Best of Led Zeppelin Volume Two
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 23:25
Zeppelin

CD: Led Zeppelin - Latter Days: The Best of Led Zeppelin Volume Two
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 23:24
This is a great compilation that dives into the more psychedelic side of Led.

CD: Dan Baird - Love Songs For The Hearing Impaired
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 3:17
I Love You Period got a ton of airplay on local radio when the record was released. Basically, this is a fun Southern rock album that has a lot of clever lyrics.

CD: 1994 - 1994
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 3:09
I really like this album. Once Again is an earworm and a half even if the lyrics are a bit amateurish.

CD: Bakers Pink - Bakers Pink
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 3:04
This is one of my favorite albums. There's a huge Doors influence in the lyrics, mood presentation.

CD: Damone - Out Here All Night
From: Dramarama Date: May 2, 2024 at 3:03
I love this album. These guys should have been huge stars. The title track rips and the Maiden cover made me happy inside.

CD: Bad Marriage - Bad Marriage
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 22:32
Get album. Old School Stereo is my favorite song but if you like hard rock that grooves there's a lot to like on this one.

CD: Bang Tango - Live Injection
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 22:12
Such a great live EP. The live version of I'm A Stranger is better than the one found on The Black Roses soundtrack. Push To Shove and Watch Her Slide rock hard. The Futurama cover is fun. So many great tunes that you can't get anywhere else.

CD: King Zebra - Between The Shadows
From: 123charpenay Date: April 30, 2024 at 11:19

CD: Even Steven - Hiding Among Pygmies
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 30, 2024 at 8:46
Anybody ever heard this indie release with Brian Johnson (AC/DC) on vocals? It's like it's been scrubbed from the web, as it's not even listed on discogs.com which usually even has the most obscure bands. I only found a tiny news article on this album in Florida were Johnson has lived in the last 30 years. https://www.tampabay.com/archive/1999/01/08/local-beat/

CD: Geordie - The Best

CD: The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 3:04
Great album, in a lot of ways The Crows kept real rock alive during the 90s and this is where it all started!

CD: KISS - Hot In The Shade
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 3:01
I love this album, Forever was my song with my high school girlfriend. I feel like this album was the pinnacle of KISS as a pop metal band and I'm glad I was there for it.

CD: KISS - Destroyer
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 2:56
This is THE KISS album and it's the one that has the most recognizable songs. God of Thunder is so good it gives me chills. You wanted the best, well here it is.

CD: Led Zeppelin - In Through The Out Door
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 2:53
Sooooo good, Fool in the Rain is one of the best story songs ever written. All of my love is quite possibly the saddest song ever recorded. Overall this album should have any grown man weeping like a child before the final note.

CD: Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 2:48
This is a really emotional album. Tangerine is absolutely brilliant and of course everyone know Immigrant Song. As always Led Zeppelin delivers the goods.

CD: Bang Tango - Ain't No Jive...Live!
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 2:46
Cool live ep. Get it for the cover of 20th Century Boy, stay for the extended version of Attack of Life.

CD: Bang Tango - Psycho Cafe
From: Dramarama Date: April 30, 2024 at 2:42
My favorite band in high school. I don't know what it was about Bang Tango that made me love them so much but I did and I still do. This album is great, funky and a little bit darker and more complex than what was mainstream at the time.

CD: Jon Bon Jovi and Friends - At The Starland Ballroom - Live
From: Doug Date: April 29, 2024 at 17:41
I saw the documentary, too and agree. I was impressed on JBJ's transparency about his voice and also how his bandmates' reactions have been. Also, the series shows how these guys are old men now, thinking about their mortality. To me, just thinking out loud, it seems the door is slightly ajar to bring Richie back into the fold, in some way or another. Perhaps alongside Phil X, who seems like a really good guy.

CD: Jon Bon Jovi and Friends - At The Starland Ballroom - Live
From: 123charpenay Date: April 29, 2024 at 17:30
i ve seen "thank you good night" this week end on disney +.it s an exceptional and very touching documentary on the bon jovi s history.the documentary is in four parts.total nearly 5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CD: Scorpions - Acoustica
From: CC Date: April 29, 2024 at 16:23
Missed in the album details, Love of my life is a cover of the Queen song

CD: Geordie - The Best
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 29, 2024 at 7:50
Hearing the words 'glam rock' and Brian Johnson (AC/DC singer) in the same sentence is a little weird. Check out the album cover, as Brian even had a lot hair without his usual cabbie hat surgically glued to his head. He's sporting a long white scarf on a Geordie gig (video link on article below), as glam in the 70's had a little different genre meaning than what it evolved to in the 80's. Geordie formed in Newcastle in 1971, and after a few hit singles the band split in 1978. Angus and Malcolm Young reached out to Brian after liking his singing with Geordie. Interesting, fairly recent article with Johnson on his hearing loss and at 76 he's getting ready to start a AC/DC European tour next month. On the 2024 tour (first in 8 years) is drummer Matt Laug (Phil Rudd back in the big house?) and Chris Chaney on bass. CD: Marvelous 3 - Hey! Album
From: Dramarama Date: April 29, 2024 at 7:43
Every Monday is one of the greatest songs ever recorded. The rest of the album is equally full of sweet, sugary hooks. There isn't a song on this album that won't get stuck in your head for days.

CD: King's X - Out of the Silent Planet
From: Dramarama Date: April 29, 2024 at 7:40
Great album but they definitely got catchier as time went on.

CD: KISS - Love Gun
From: Dramarama Date: April 29, 2024 at 7:38
My favorite KISS album. Peter Criss really shines on this album. I feel like this is the most locked in he and Gene ever were.

CD: L.A. Guns - Hollywood Vampires
From: Dramarama Date: April 29, 2024 at 7:35
Great, great album. As a teenager I really felt like the Guns could do no wrong. This one is a lot darker and more dense than their earlier stuff and I really wish that they hadn't taken 4 years in between albums because by 1995 Polydor and MTV had completely forgotten about them.

CD: L.A. Guns - Cocked and Loaded
From: Dramarama Date: April 29, 2024 at 7:28
Definitely their best album. Phil Lewis is a God tier vocalist. This album rips from start to finish. Sleazy, bluesy and catchy as hell it's everything I've always loved about hard rock.

CD: Negative - Sweet and Deceitful
From: hair metal again Date: April 28, 2024 at 5:11
pretty good release for NEGATIVE offering a goth rock sound ,something like HIM with nice melodic lines and good songs like "creeping inside","L.A. feeding fire" and "frozen to lose it all"!interesting band but nothing blowminding

CD: Brett Walker - Nevertheless
From: curemeok Date: April 27, 2024 at 9:47
R.I.P

CD: Passion - Loaded Gun
From: Dramarama Date: April 27, 2024 at 7:29
I'm listening to this album on Spotify right now and so far I really like it! Nice riffs, big choruses and the vocalist has a nice tone and impressive range. Some of the lyrics are bit cheesy but it's still been a fun listen so far.

CD: Accept - Humanoid
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 26, 2024 at 6:59
This is Accept's 17th album. Looking back I remember when I was in my late teens and went to a video dance nightclub, circa 1985-86'(alcohol 18+ grandfather's clause state). I got the VJ to play "Midnight Mover" video to clear the dance floor (except me) and a few rock soldiers. I was a fan of some of the 80's UDO releases and liked the MHR David Reece experiment 'Eat the Heat (1989)'. Wolf Hoffmann (Guitar) is the sole original member left. I haven't really been a big fan of the Mark Tornillo (T.T. Quick) 14+ years going back to 'Blood of the Nations (2010)'. Mark is going on 70 in a couple months, so I tip my hat for his longevity. With 'Humanoid' Accept steers towards more AC/DC territory, wavering from their harder 2010 metal roots. Mid tempo tracks like 'Man Up' I could definitely imagine Brian Johnson singing. The last ballad I remember on a Accept album was 'Mistreated' with David Reece so ‘Ravages of Time’ might be the second ballad unless UDO had a acoustic ballads album.

CD: A Neverending John's Dream - Coming Back To Paradise
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 26, 2024 at 2:38
'A Neverending John's Dream' first album was called 'Red-light District Rendezvous' with the opening track "probation poon-tang'(wink). Unlike the band's self description as this being a "melodic hard ‘n’ heavy album", this is average light and fluffy (by the numbers) keyboard driven AOR. According to this Barcelona band's youtube video page "The meaning of the band’s name is a bit philosophic. The creation of music has no end (Neverending), and this fact, is like a dream for Joan M. Heredia (John). The lead singer's first name is Joan, and appears to be a male. I've known women/men named Jean/Gene. Joan is a male first that I've ever heard, unless he's in John-to-Joan transition. A Neverending John's Dream - Coming Back To Paradise (Official Video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KL3RC_Nq8o

What a record. There's maybe one or two fillers but the rest is great.

CD: Taylen Storm - Taylen Storm
From: Ale Date: April 25, 2024 at 9:34
The production is poor. These are basically demos but most of the songs are very catchy. I like this one a lot!

CD: Jon Bon Jovi and Friends - At The Starland Ballroom - Live
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 25, 2024 at 4:07
Based on the current lineup (- Richie Sambora) 'Jon Bon Jovi and Friends' should be the name of the current Bon Jovi band. Sambora joined Bon Jovi in 1983, replacing original lead guitarist Dave Sabo (Skid Row). JBJ is heavily working the talk show circuit and press with the new documentary coming out tomorrow 'Thank You Good Night, The Bon Jovi Story'(2024). Not sure if JBJ is working the "Living on a prayer' hype comeback angle, as he says his voice after vocal cord surgery might never fully recover to his standards. He's also publicizing that he and Sambora watched the documentary together, after Sambora went AWOL on a tour 11 years ago, as the 2 had been estranged for a decade. All orchestrated for a big Sambora/BJ reunion tour? Who knows. As far as my taste I didn't pay much attention to BJ after 'New Jersey (1988)', with JBJ trying to reinvent himself as the modern day Springsteen in later years. Saw BJ open for RATT in 85' and the 'New Jersey tour' with Skid Row opening in 89'.

CD: Universe III - Universe III
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 25, 2024 at 2:21
@SIOGO, you can make 1 comment up to 1,000 characters, therefore, saving you from hitting the add button 4 times. When I hear the band name "Universe" I think of the German band who released the excellent 'Bad Child (1992)'. A formation of this band Universe S/T (1985) [Michael Kling Lead Guitar] came out, but they must have lost the copyright battle with the German band by the same name. Hence, the goofy altered band names "Universe Infinity" Rock Is Alive (2018) and now 'Universe III' - S/T (2024). Andreas Eklun has lost some range with the hands of time since being the 'House of Shakira' singer. Eklund also sang on last album, but Michael Kling is MIA on guitar on this release. This album doesn't come out till May 16, 2024, so I've only heard a couple singles. The track "Casa De Los Pollos" , the Euro Sammy Hagar of Cabo Wabo. Nothing to write home about from the tracks I've heard (galloping Horse HR) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OByGseulzE8

CD: Little River Band - All-Time Greatest Hits
From: Dramarama Date: April 25, 2024 at 0:08
For me this is the LBR album to own. All 10 of their top 20 American billboard hits on one cd. It's just one banger after another!

CD: Wildlights - Wildlights
From: Dramarama Date: April 25, 2024 at 0:06
This is a really interesting release, imagine a more ballsy Perry Farrell singing for the BulletBoys and you'll have some idea what this is all about.

CD: L.A. Guns - Vicious Circle
From: Doghouse Reilly Date: April 24, 2024 at 18:26
This is another one of those grunge-era discs from hair bands that some hated in its time, and many more never heard, but people warmed up to it in the ensuing years. It's a heavier, more aggressive, groovier version of the band, with Phil's voice being the main signifier that this is indeed L.A. Guns. According to a former tour manager and friend of the band who has a YouTube channel, Vicious Circle was mainly Phil, Mick and Kelly's baby. Steve Riley had been fired, and Tracii seemed to have effectively abandoned the ship (wouldn't be the last time). He returned in time to play some guitar on the album, among many other session players. A lot of the drums were done by Myron Grombacher from Pat Benatar's band. "Long Time Dead" was the would-be single, and got some airplay in the sad, waning days of KNAC-FM in Los Angeles, and virtually nowhere else.

CD: The Zeros - Names Vol. 1
From: hair metal again Date: April 24, 2024 at 7:24
very good release for THE ZEROS offering their fun punk hard rock music in their own way !funny lyrics ,interesting melodies and a solid performance that will satisfy whoever wants something like this

CD: Whitecross - In the Kingdom
From: hair metal again Date: April 23, 2024 at 6:17
very good release for WHITECROSS as usual with amazing guitar work by Rex and many good songs like "no second chances","love is our weapon" and "we know what s right"!the lyrics are as Christian as it can get and i believe that it was too much for the band and that it didnt help them commercially!anyway every WHITECROSS release is worth having

CD: Tyketto - Reach
From: Doug Date: April 22, 2024 at 21:12
I agree that "Don't Come Easy" is a good album, I just now finished listening to it in it's entirety - "Reach" is way better, IMHO.

CD: Theory Of A Deadman - Dinosaur
From: Doug Date: April 22, 2024 at 19:04
Man, I used to really like TOAD, oh how they have dropped off. They seem to want to be Maroon 5.....

CD: HailMary - Disturbing the Peace
From: TattooPaul Date: April 22, 2024 at 17:43
However you feel about Leatherwolf, that's how you should feel about HailMary, as it is the Singer/Guitarist and BOTH Lead Guitarists from Leatherwolf. The songcraft is along the same lines, with maybe a little more care thrown to what was then radio-friendliness. I was always a fan of Leatherwolf, so I am more than happy with this.

CD: Bugzy - She's The One
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 22, 2024 at 8:53
There was supposedly 3 major record labels courting this Jersey based band in the 80's, but nothing materialized. The first album Plan B (2017) of unreleased material has a couple couple catchy tracks, leaning more hard rock/edgy AOR. When it rains it pours as 2 more albums were released almost simultaneously of more unreleased material in 2018 (56 tracks total 3 albums) is a bit overkill. Plan B (2017) is the best IMO with these 2 other (2018) releases being lighter AOR. I looked up the band's bio and a bit of their history. The origins of the founding members of BUGZY are from New Jersey go back to as far as 1977 and lasted until 1995. In 1988, the members had officially joined forces and begin performing live. Within a year, a short-lived production deal with producer Tony Bongiovi led the group to record a few tracks in NYC’s Power Station. studio. https://www.divebombrecords.com/bands/bugzy

CD: Eyes - Windows of the Soul
From: Rickherbian Date: April 22, 2024 at 7:45

CD: Moxy - Live in Toronto
From: underworld king Date: April 22, 2024 at 5:41
Nick Walsh does justice to the late, great Buzz Sherman. I was fortunate to catch this version of the band live on two ocassions.

CD: Moxy - Raw
From: underworld king Date: April 22, 2024 at 5:38
Great live album from this version of the band. Saw them live in 2002 with this line up. Unfortunately I never got to see them in their heyday of the 1970's but the San Antonio show rocked. I believe this cd was not recorded in San Antonio though. All in all a great cd.

CD: Racer X - Street Lethal
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 21, 2024 at 6:20
https://racer-x-band.fandom.com/wiki/Jeff_Martin Martin was the singer for the band Surgical Steel in Phoenix, AZ pre Racer X. They were one of the bigger HR/Metal bands in the Valley circa 83-85' also covering a few Priest songs. Rob Halford lived in the Phoenix area at that time and jammed with them on stage and did backing vocals on song the band released. Halford supposedly tried to shop the band around to several labels but no bites. Last time I saw Halford he announced he was the gay guy in the band accepting at a awards show. Of course at the time period of the early 80's that could have been a career killer. It was rumored around the clubs that the singer Jeff Martin was Halford's toy boy, hence part of the reason he was so interested in the band. You can read more about Halford's connection with the band with videos on the link below. https://metalinjection.net/editorials/back-in-the-day/how-rob-halford-turned-an-obscure-metal-band-into-the-biggest-band-in-phoenix-overnight

CD: Scott Stapp - Higher Power
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 20, 2024 at 23:52
@kawshy580, Does HH have a genre policy statement posted? There must be a boardroom command center at major record labels that coin these terms. You would think 'grunge/post grunge' was some huge monumental music shift moment in time as in B.C./A.D. Grunge was basically a blip on the screen, that lasted a few years. Wiki = Post-grunge is an offshoot of grunge that has a less abrasive tone than traditional grunge. Originally, the term was used almost pejoratively to label mid-1990s rock bands such as Bush, Candlebox, Collective Soul, Foo Fighters, that emulated the original sound of grunge. In the late 1990s, post-grunge morphed into a more clearly defined style that combined the sound and aesthetic of grunge with more commercially accessible songwriting, rising to prominence that lasted into the 2000s. Bands such as Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Creed. In the 80's Modern rock used to be known as alternative rock format. Not sure when the subgenre of 'modern hard rock' was coined.

MetallianStallion, I find it strange that this site takes a firm "no grunge" policy, yet many post-grunge bands are listed here.

CD: Alias - Alias
From: Val Date: April 20, 2024 at 15:46
Damn good sound, those drums are super! Crispy snare and bass drum, just the right level of cymbals and tight playing. Killer melodic bliss of guitarist, but yet not too long solos, and Curci's vocals are so very wide and KILLER range, just beautiful singing. Quite big hits with More Than Words Can Say and Waiting for Love (for the chicks/label execs, ey?), but my faves are Haunted Heart (can't be any better, it has got it all!), and One More Chance. The 1990 Heart album was a triple platinum, I love it too (Richie Zito also wow), but I think Alias was close to platinum, and deserved more, cause it is just as stellar of an album. And in 1990, there were many! REAL live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgtSN_ue4hs Bio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmO0LnBZPnA Eddie DeLena, George Tutko, Rick Neigher, plenty good additional talent in that studio.

Excellent AOR just like the stunning debut. Skilled musicians all of them and smooth, catchy soft rock/AOR tunes. Simply an amazing melodic rock album and all songs are good. Perfect rating to me. John Punter had the enormously hard task to create another killer sound, similar to Fraser/Rock, not easy, but he did it so very well. Amazing sound down to details, mmm CD sounds great in my sound system. Turn it up!

Well yes, with both Fraser and Rock sound is HUGE, superb in every department. Shame they did not have a better/more powerful label and manager behind them, since killer disc. Love it similarly to early FM and Strangeways, Heartland and os on.

CD: Vixen - Rev it Up

Very very good melodic rock album and the ladies play very well. This time a good focused producer that they wanted (not plenty studios like with the debut), and the mix by skilled Mike Shipley is just top notch. Debut sold gold, and this should have done too and then some, it's actually a little bit better. Consistent album throughout but the first four song opening is a perfect start! In 1990, Warrant, Winger, Slaughter, FireHouse all sold millions, and competition was very hard. Listening to them all now, I don't think Vixen was far behind. I think this album is rather genuine. Still a great listen and Jan Kuehnemund was a tasty guitarist, RIP.

The Scott Stapp Creed can be found on BrutalMetal—which is somehow even more hilarious than if they were on HH. They were the kind of band that were anathema to this site in its earliest years.

Also, comparing the attendance from 2007 and 2023 is more than a little specious. The drop in numbers has to do with many, many factors and can't be attributed to just, "Oh, well, they don't have the bands I like anymore, these modern bands can't draw." It's a little bit like those people who complained that oldies stations no longer played much music from the '50's, not realizing (or realizing all too well) that they had aged out of the money demographic for advertisers. Regardless, 15-plus years after the first Rocklahoma, it's a different world in many ways.

We all know talentqual;y doesn't always translate to commerciaal success, and we all know (or were) some of those people who would travel across the country, even to Oklahoma, to see these niche acts. The first time. The fourth or fifth? Probably not. (Personally I thought the 2008 lineup with Tora Tora, Every Mother's Nightmare, and I believe Junkyard, was aces, but again—niche bands.) Keeping it somewhat on-topic, and from a somewhat younger perspective, by the time I got into hard rock and metal in 1988-1989, nobody was talking about or playing Icon. There were all sorts of flash-in-the-pan hair bands in those last few years, but Icon were left behind in 1985, despite an attempted comeback of sorts in '89. I never even heard of them until I got online around 2000 and found older rawk dudes like you singing their praises. That's not a judgment of their merit as a band, just to say that they were quickly forgotten.

I recently got done watching Metal Evolution (2011) [12 episodes] documentary series on the different genres/subgenres of hard rock/metal. Pretty thorough analysis, starting with Sabbath/Ted Nugent/Kiss/Alice Cooper, and finishing with the last episode with Extreme Metal. I noticed Limp Bizkit, the vanilla Ice of Nu/Metal was at Rocklahoma a few years ago. To me it makes sense to divide different genres over the 3 days at Rocklahoma. I don't see a fan of Avenged Sevenfold being into Winger as a opening act. As far as C-list bands, talent doesn't always translate to mass popularity. This band ICON release Night of the Crime (1985) was voted third best album of all time by Kerrang! magazine readers in 1988. Rated fairly high on HH also. Definitely a niche audience, but I had a few friends who packed their bags from the North East part of the U.S. to Rocklahoma 2007-08 just for those obscure bands that they never got a chance to see live. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Evolution

@Doghouse, you make some valid points. The Rocklahoma 2023 attendance was reported at 60,000 so that's a 40k drop from 2007. 2007-08 was also a big recession, as after 3 years the promotors flipped (mixed) the genre script by 2010. They also changed the date of the shows from mid July 2007-09 to the end of May. In the last 3 years now it's at the end of August. A couple weeks ago a Los Angeles-based promoter acquired Rocklahoma so maybe there will be some changes in the future. As far as drawing major headliners of course even if you have new younger generations of fans the 80's bands can only tour for so long. Pulling a rabbit out of a hat like getting Triumph to come in 2008 was a draw. Of all of the bands that got a major label deal back in the day only about 3% of them made it as far as being financially successful. Speaking of the hardcore hair metal crowd. Many genres in the hard metal crowd (thrash, ect.) take great offense to hair bands(it's their Kryptonite). (CON'T)

Strange that band's like Nickelback are on this site along with Stapp's 4 solo releases. But nothing by 'Creed', a band that's sold 53+ million albums worldwide. Actually there is a Creed band from Germany and a U.S. band from the late 70's here by the same name. I remember seeing a lot of backlash towards this band at their peak of popularity. Especially towards Stapp with his hypocritical behavior, drug use, and Eddie Vedder doing dead lifts, knock-off vocal style. I remember seeing a dude wearing a T-shirt that said " Even Jesus hates Creed". I was never a fan but didn't mind some of their early stuff "My own prison". As far as this release it's a standard post grunge/ modern rock affair with over the top Stapp Christian poser lyrics. O BOY, Official band update.. Scott Stapp can't be stopped. Creed and its legendary frontman just announced they're extending their massive 2024 tour — the band's first in 10 years. — with special guests 3 Doors Down, Finger Eleven and Mammoth WVH.

If you where a dude listening to a steady diet of the Cutting Crew in the 80's chances are those were your "Virgin Years". According to the band's wiki page they fall under the genre of pop rock/new wave. I don't remember any 80's AOR/Rock radio stations touching them with a ten foot pole. Their hit's like"(I Just) Died In Your Arms" were primarily played on Adult Contemporary and Top 40 stations. This is another artist IMO that doesn't belong here.

Meant to say "while you wait for the handful of headliners. Many of these bands are part-time side-hustles now. Something else to think about: if the current formula wasn't successful from a business standpoint, the same promoters wouldn't have replicated it at countless locations around the shountry. We still have M3 in the Baltimore-DC area for the hardcore hair-metal crowd.

I can't imagine that the promoters would have stuck with the current mix of artists for over a decade if it weren't lucrative, Stallion. You gotta be objective, man. Whether or not you or I like them, all three of the bands you mentioned are bona fide headliners at this point in their careers—which have all spanned at least 20 years by now I might add. The inaugural Rocklahoma was a surprise success because of the novelty of it. I can only guess the law of diminishing returns came into play in successive years—just look at the 2009 lineup you posted. Most of those bands were C-list at best, even in their own day. And now we're all another 15 years older, with the average fan of this music now well into their 50's—the idea of spending a weekend in a field in Possum Dick, Oklahoma, is not as appealing, nor is watching 60-ish never-wuzzes like Hericane Alice sing about being wild, young and cray-zaaaay while you wait. Speaking of Rocklahoma, has anybody seen the 2024 lineup? Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed are to headline. Slipknot? Was GWAR not available? Not exactly enticing enough for me to pack my bags from out west. They sprinkle in a few of the usual suspect hair bands, but still to me it's (yawn). I can't imagine the current genre mix of bands being near as lucrative for concert promoters now, compared to 15+ years ago. There were an estimated 100,000 people (about 30,000 per day) at the first annual Rocklahoma held in(2007). (2009) Lineup: ICON, Hericane Alice, Jackyl, Keel, KIX, Lillian Axe, Lizzy Borden, Silent Rage, Baton Rouge, Bonfire, Great White, L.A. Guns, Nelson, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Britny Fox, RATT, Helix, Bang Tango, Night Ranger, Warrant, Danger Danger, Lord Tracy, Mass, Stryper, Overkill, Saxon, Metal Church, Anvil, Anthrax, Mad Max, Leather Wolf. CD: Triumph - Live At Sweden Rock Festival
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 18, 2024 at 8:05
I recently saw the documentary Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine (2021). Great flick as Gil Moore is a smart guy, starting from the early days of the band. Moore and the bass player(Levine) already had a label recording contract in their pocket before they showed it to Rik Emmet and recruited him into the band. Gil guided the trio early on having his own recording studio "Metalworks Studios' as he had some clever promotion/tour ideas early on to think BIG. Funny clip in the doc, the band pulls up in a tractor trailer(with Marshall stacks in tow)for a high school gym gig. Rik in recent interviews looks a little remorseful, as he appears to have some regrets about blowing up and leaving the band at it's 80's peak. Now he says, maybe if I would have had my (experimental) solo career on the side and I could have stayed in the band. I never saw the band live and missed my shot when Triumph was at Rocklahoma in (2008). Rik and Gil are 70 now, so doing a bigger tour is probably not in the cards.

I thought the comments section was slowing down on HH, until I clicked on the satellite site HeavensMetal.com and there is 2 year time gap between the last 2 new/old comments (blow off the dust). This band's album rating on 'HM' appears to have been hacked more times than the 2020 U.S. presidential election. As it must be pretty easy to ratings hi-jack on HM.com with no login name/password needed. Ezra in my book would be rated on the south side of heaven. This release is definitely not even in the top 50 Christian HR/Metal releases, let alone #1 with allegedly (159 ratings) on HM.com. The singer is good, sounds a bit like a poor man's David Coverdale, with thin/muddy production. After the first 2 tracks the album takes a major tailspin in quality. Nothing to get too excited about unless your a collector. This UK band indie release CD is semi-rare, going for $40 range on Ebay/Amazon.

It's a sign of the times (as Lillian Axe might put it). Traffic here was heavier 15-20 years ago, before social media made message boards and comments sections like these obsolete, and before many of us got older and busier and stopped caring as much. Incidentally, KNAC recently shut down their user comments, which had been all but dead for years anyway. I lived a little too much in that world when I was in my early 20's, and when I think back, I don't like that guy very much, and am glad he's mostly in hibernation. But like you, I like to live in the past too and drop some comments here on albums that pique my interest, for people to take or leave as they see fit.

It's called "Rough Mix" (disc 2), was mastered in 2020 by Ryuichi Tanaka at Warner Music Mastering Tokyo and sounds taken from an original master copy. This album has always been stellar, but personally I like this original ("rough") first mix the best and rough is not a suitable word; the mix is in fact very good!! First songs are probably the best, but a rather consistent album with killer vocals and guitarist Akira Takasaki in SUPER form! CD: Soundtracks - Trick or Treat
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 17, 2024 at 6:37
This has to be my favorite soundtrack from any movie. How many soundtracks have only 1 artist? Let alone all hard rock with no fillers. The movie "Into The Wild (2007)", which I loved even though Eddie Vedder did the entire movie soundtrack. This is a cohesive, well crafted album from start to finish. It perfectly portrays teen angst (me against the world rebellion). This was a B-movie for sure, with it's share of 80's cheese, but enjoyable. Gene Simmons has a small role as a DJ and Ozzy Osbourne has a cameo as preacher. I saw Fastway as kid open for Judas Priest as I recall on their "All Fired Up" tour. Fallen rock god Sammi Curr shows a ounce of image is worth a pound of performance (lip synching). As the actor who played Curr (Tony Fields) was a solid gold dancer in real life with acrobatic moves and stage presence. Something that ex-Motörhead guitarist Eddie Clarke and the other 2 band members largely lacked. Rock Candy reissued a remaster with a behind the scenes booklet in 2019.

@Deputy Doghouse, that's why I come to this site, to live in the past. I've made more comments in the last 2 months than in the last 3 years. So maybe I have too much time on my hands lately. I guess I could launch my own investigation on the boards. Based on the quantity of new comments, the traffic was much heavier on this site 15+ years ago. I find anyone who takes themselves or their opinions on music too seriously, amusing. There use to be a lot of 'flaming'🔥 in the good old days, which some did add entertainment value. I would guess there are under 50 semi-regulars posting comments now. And only a handful on the message board. I've pointed out 17 year old questions----> See 'The End Machine - The Quantum Phase (2024)'. So me throwing out a few comment inconsistencies and " Where are they Now" question is rather harmless. Auslander mentioned previously that he was on the board, that's why I directed the question his way. Anyone can feel free to answer/ignore me. Look up SA

This new album includes the 3 songs from the EP also titled “Fear No Evil” (2022) with the same singer, David Roberts. First, I'm not a fan of the current singer as his raspy voice sounds strained (worn) on the harder edged tracks. My favorite Rex Caroll band would be 'Fierce Heart' as his guitar work and singer Robert Reynolds shines on "War for the World (2020). I was a modest fan of some early Whitecross albums. It's been almost 20 years since the original singer Scott Wenzel (poor man's Steven Pearcy) sang on the band's last release, Whitecross S/T (1987) re-recording of the debut "Nineteen Eighty Seven (2005)". He did a good job with the beefed up production, but with the hands of time I guess he wasn't a option for this release. This is not bad, just nothing really grabs me on this album bouncing between rockers and an acoustic odyssey.

Another strange anomaly like the "27" club is those 3 band's that were up for the 1992 American Music Award (Firehouse ,Nirvana, Alice in Chains). The bands lead singers (CJ Snare, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain) all died on April 5th.

CD: Firehouse - Firehouse

"Love of a Lifetime", the band's highest charting hit. "Jon Bon Jovi heard it before the band released their debut album and said, 'Throw it away, it’ll ruin your career," said Snare. Not sure if Firehouse or CJ had to pay a front man finders fee, or had a financial arrangement (cut) with Bon Jovi, like Skid Row and Cinderella did. I read somewhere where Richie Sambora gave back his cut to Skid Row, as it was substantial but JBJ kept every penny. I listened to a interview (below) with original bassist Perry Richardson after he was booted from the band. He said before the band came up with the name Firehouse that the Epic label said they were going to name the band "Daddy's Girl". Talk about a JBJ career killer. A early incarnation of the band was called "White Heat" which got some local radio play. Perry said Alice in Chains tried to intimate them as they were pissed when Firehouse won 1992 American Music Awards for favorite new HM artist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeM3LIyTlEs

@Auslander, since you previously put out a comment for more regulars to chat on the HH message board. I have a question for you. Anyone who has been around this site for more than a couple years knows that it was more important than life itself for "Geoff" to crank out the comments like a printing press here. Did he have a run in with HH management or is he self banished to the message board only now? It's been 15 years since my only appearance on the boards, as I went head to head with the G-man on why I felt Cher releases didn't belong on this site. Since he has so many comments, his avalanche of inconsistencies are unavoidable. Exhibit A: "Yes, it's Cher" "One of those albums where you barely have a chance to breathe before the next killer song hits." Foreigner - 4 (1981). "Ultra light commercial AOR and not my cup of tea at all. Almost pop-like. I like at least one testicle in my music (As in half a set of balls, not a literal testical). pretty good debut for NITRO in the late 80 s ,a unique band that is probably the most over the top act of the hard rock genre !everything is in excess from fast guitar shredder Michael Batio till the the high octane Jim Gillette s vocals and their extreme hair looks!oh man this is quite strange but is somehow a cult release!"double trouble","nasty reputation" and "long way from home" are the highlights!

One of the great pop-metal voices for sure, and by all accounts a super-nice guy. I saw Firehouse in 2005 in a small theater in Salisbury, Maryland (what the touring industry would kindly describe as a tertiary market), at the bottom of a bill that also featuring Quiet Riot, Ratt and Cinderella. They were a decade past their heyday, but still put on a good show and Mr. Snare was in fine voice and good spirits. (By contrast, Jizzy Pearl, collecting a paycheck with Ratt, appeared utterly bored.) I still rate Firehouse's debut very highly—summery, carefree fun.

R.I.P. CJ Snare (64 years old). One of the HH greats, as he will be missed. According to his wiki page In September 2020, he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. In September 2023, he took a hiatus from Firehouse to undergo abdominal surgery last October. Andrew Freeman (Last in Line) was filling in for CJ on lead vocals for some of the band's live dates. Just a week ago, Snare hinted that he would soon return to the stage on social media. Firehouse sold 7+ million albums worldwide since their debut. The band had seven singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100,Love of a Lifetime,(#5) in 1991, and When I Look Into Your Eyes, (#8) in 1992. Don’t Treat Me Bad (#19), All She Wrote #58 Reach For The Sky (#83), Sleeping With You (#78) and I Live My Life For You (26).

Not worth ordering any Japanese releases of Frontiers albums anymore my dude. Every single one only has some alternate version of a song already on the album. I think the last Jap version of one of their releases I bought was LA Guns The devil you know back in 2019 because of this. No more actual proper bonus tracks.

R.I.P. Myles Goodwyn (June 23, 1948 – December 3, 2023). I was a fan of some the band's 80's material and got a chance to see them live in the mid 90's. I would consider "The Nature of the Beast (1981) to be the band's best release. The track 'Sign of the Gypsy Queen" never gets old. I recently saw a comprehensive documentary on April Wine and Goodwyn's life. It pointed out that the album 'The Whole World's Goin' Crazy'(1976) made April Wine the first Canadian band to achieve Platinum advance sales status on a indie label. Over the band’s 50-plus-year career, April Wine has sold 10+ million records in Canada U.S. and the U.K., and released 22 studio and live albums. In March of 2009, April Wine was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame. - April Wine Myles Goodwyn Story (2023) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrcadzfew1U

CD: Station - And Time Goes On
From: MetalllianStallion Date: April 7, 2024 at 4:39
This younger band was born a generation (or 2) too late, as I think they could have gotten a major label deal back in the 80's. They have been together 10+ years with 6 albums. You always know what you are gonna get with a 'Station' CD with at least 3-4 good MHR hook driven songs per album. So since the band hasn't made one, I had to make my own "best of" release of 6 CD's to save my FF fingers on road trips, and data on my mp3 flash drives. 01 - I Don't Want to Know Your Name, 02 - Everything 03 - Dressed to Kill, 04 - Are You Sleeping Alone, 05 - Don't Take Heaven Away From Me, 06 - With Me Tonight, 07 - Never Say Never, 08 - I Won't Break Your Heart, 09 - More Than the Moon, 10 - I Can't Find My Way,11 - See the Light, 12 - Do You Really Want to Fall in Love Again, 13 - Believe, 14 - Over & Over, 15 - Close My Eyes, 16 - Locked Away, 17 - Around The Sound,18 - Never Enough,18 - Never Enough, 19 - All You Need Is a Heartbeat, 20 - If You Want Love, 21 - If You Want Me Too

CD: Lipz - Changing the Melody
From: 123charpenay Date: April 5, 2024 at 15:40
i m not fan of glam rock, cause musically it s very average and the guys looks like to some transexuals.the guys of lipz have a totally ridiculous look,but.....they deliver a very good melodic hard rock record.their music is a mix between reckless love and summers.two great references.tracks 3 and 7 are not extraordinary but the other songs are catchy, with some very great choruses.the production is perfect.the singer is not the best singer of the planet but he make a good job.this cd is not a masterpiece but stay a very enjoyable record wich give pleasure and fun.ok they have pumped at right and at left some music and some choruses, they invinted nothing but they are talented.the japan import have absoluty no interest cause the japan bonus track is an horrible acoutic version of "stop talking about nothing".it s a nightmare.

CD: Circle of Friends - Cherokee Moon
From: 123charpenay Date: April 5, 2024 at 15:26
second excellent effort from circle of friends.their first record was the cd of the year in 2022.here we are not at the same level,it s impossible.but this record is a top class hard fm record even if "the robe" is a very very long and very average song.the other songs are ultra catchy, varied with some very talented guys and women.i recommand the japan import cause the japan bonus track "a candle in the window" is avery good song singing by jeff scot soto.

CD: Urgent - Cast The First Stone
From: hair metal again Date: April 3, 2024 at 15:27
very good debut for URGENT in the mid 80s capturing the spirit and the sound of that era with big keys and catchy choruses !Cast The First Stone is an album that flows fine but i cant find any big songs that could push things further for the band!"so this is paradise" and "say goodbye " are the highlights

This is the only Motley Crue album that own. John Corabi is a special singer and if the fans had been more open minded this could have worked out the same way that Van Halen did with Sammy Hagar.

11 smash winners, killer performances and bloody good production, fat lovely drums and lots of guitars with Mr Dalone in great shape, this is a total full-scorer to me. I even think it's HEAT's best ever album, cause I can only find killer after killer song. Force Majeure close 2nd. I also happen to like all the other HEAT albums so this means a lot, they're ALL excellent. 29 by MetalllianStallion, now that means he hates this album, how can anybody do that. Each to his own of course. One of the BEST ever melodic rock albums outta Scandinavia, for sure. Turn it up!

... overplayed) for me at this point—I don't ever need to hear it again. I don't care for Bret as a singer, and think he's even more of a doofus as a person, so that's always going to be an issue. C.C. DeVille, for his part, plays some surprisingly tasteful solos along with the occasional nasty, grinding riffs already mentioned. I mean, the solo in the even more done-to-death "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"—that's a good solo, in the "song within a song" style. You can hum it, sing it, whistle it, whatever. Ditto his recurring melody line in "Fallen Angel." Homer Simpson would describe Rikki Rockett's drumming "adequate," and Bobby Dall is mostly all but unheard except for a tasty lick near the end of "Every Rose." The deluxe reissue includes one bonus track whose title has already left my mind, but which is no better or worse than the other songs, plus a qen-minute "interview," much of which is taken up with clips from the songs you've just heard, plus bits of commentary from the band from

I've been vocal about my non-fandom of this band, and still feel their first compilation is all the Poison anyone needs. But if you have to own an actual album, this is probably the one to go for. A step up over their amateurish debut in both songwriting and production, but not as bloated as Flesh And Blood. There's nothing as stupid or childish as "Talk Dirty To Me" or "Let Me Go To The Show" (or "Unskinny Bop" for that matter) and the worst offender in that regard is a cover. Tom Werman is known for his belief that the most important thing is a good rhythm guitar sound, and we certainly get that right from the beginning, C.C.'s opening riff on "Love On The Rocks" jumping out of the speakers with a rude and raunchy tone that carries through much of the record. That song is a good deep cut, and "Back To The Rocking Horse" and "Look But You Can't Touch" are somewhat overlooked as well. "Nothin' But A Good Time" conjures up the summertime vibes, but is just too chipper (and too overplaye

CD: L.A. Guns - Shrinking Violet
From: Doghouse Reilly Date: April 2, 2024 at 14:40
1999 was a tough time to be a second-tier hair band, even one of the best in their class. L.A. Guns have never done themselves any favors either—these guys just can't get out of their own way. I remember Shrinking Violet being slagged pretty hard at the time. But at least it's a return to their core sound after the unsuccessful digression of American Hardcore. Jizzy keeps the spirit of the band alive without Phil's trademark British accent, and "I'll Be There" is one of their best post-heyday songs. The production is not good, and there are some weak tunes, like the lumbering blues of "Bad Whiskey." It's still among their more forgettable releases, but not the worst.
